I love playing SoD and I love how blizzard has been more active listening to community. Now lets keep this post alive as a community! Blizzard, remove the bots and hackers please! Your silence in this matter is beyond my comprehension.
Do something!!!
They ban the bots in waves. For more info about why the problem is not so simple:
Why do you think it will cost the botter money?
Just to showcase an example of 500 bots under command by 1 goldseller and the ability to make more in mere seconds.

Something similar was attempted in Runescape where you must do a minigame succesfully or get penalised in various forms. This never succeeded though.
You did not read the first link that they infact, have a team then?
If your think your suggestions are revolutionary you could always give them directly to Blizzard but it’s not likely they’re new or feasible to be implemented:
Magical Suggestion Box
The answers on blizzards part are weak, if you ban in waves and the waves take to long it will make botting a proffit if the bans are fast it will cost the botter money its that simple.
Im no gm but is it possible to flag people that are only for over 18 hours a day.
Flag people for having over x amount of gold and flag people for exemple rogues doing pick pocket farms.
Or make it that people that get reported get a bot test and got 1 minute to solve it if people fail to complete also flag them.
Or get a team of ingame admins to fix it, im even pretty sure the community would to ot fulluntairly for some in game rewards.
And if you ban too quickly you will end up with mountains of scripts to deciper and ban, which leads to a backlog and a slow down over time. As the codes will recreate too fast.
There are more people running botting companies generating scripts snd programs then there employees handling this.
Its taken blizzard to launch the token on every client of WoW to significantly reduce the issue. Bots wont give up for aslong as players buy, and thats the real issue the quantity of people who are willing to fork out cash
GKDP has generated a demand of gold that has never existed in WoW before. And along with that the surge of companies profitting off of it pour in
Granted tho, there has to be a middle ground to minimise the issue atleast alot more then the current circumstance
They could limit how much people can put on the AH like they do in FF14. Works wonders but Blizzard enjoys the inflated numbers and subscriptions. Thus they will sit on it and do token gestures. The only thing that will make them do something is a concerted effort of players to walk out. I mean, look at the impact that Balders Gate 3 and Starfield had. When gamers have had enough and are prepared to act. Things happen! So far the WoW community have actively shown that they are upset but unwilling to act and still pay their subscriptions. So Blizzard are under no pressure to act until the community does. Businesses don’t want to make you happy, they just want to scratch your back enough to open your wallet! Sad but true.
If a account costs $10 a month sub and the bot breaks even in 5 days and gets banned 25 days later it has made like 5+ times the cost sub and really only lost 5 days of profit before it would have had to resub anyway. Problem is that the break even margin is so low because all you need is a sub that you only need 5 days before generating profit. That’s why ban waves are useless they almost never really work.
5 days? Try 5 hours.
Give me 10 gold and I can turn it into 200 in a matter of 2 days just flipping AH.
And unlike me they know far more tricks and optimization.
Its all just excuses. In any normal business where customers actually demand anything from you this wouldn’t fly at all.
Until Blizzard comes up with a working automated solution, they should apply a manual solution. “You can’t just ban all the bots” in case of SoD is total smoke and mirrors.
You could ban like 99% of them. There aren’t that many servers. A single gamemaster could manually check SFK and ban every single lvl 16 rogue that has been solo farming there for days. This would take like 1 hour per server max, and I am being generous to Blizz here.
Then the same guy could check hunters in barrens. Hmm this one has been online for 48 hours and killed 3000 thunderlizards → ban. Now one person could do both of these steps daily, for every SoD server, and it’d take what? 2 hours of his work time? 4 more effective hours to do more.
But Blizzard is too big a corporation, and it is obvious nobody actually has any power to take this kind of actual drastic actions. I will repeat this just for clarity: Until an automated and good solution is in effect, there is no excuse not to use manual and less effective solution, as long as it works. I know there is more to it, I know it is more complicated than this, but there really is no excuse why they can’t get same bots banned before they farm same spots for weeks.
The banwave thing is simply lazy and incompetent approach, since getting banned after 30 days with 30 day subs is absolutely meaningless to botters.
Instead of banning them in waves after they’ve already farmed the gold they need to sustain their business, I feel like they need to strike them down before they even leave the starting zone.
Soooo many of these bots are running around for days if not weeks. Farming enough to generate profits that make them go “Ah well. We go again …” When they eventually get banned.
this is exactly what is pissing off the community. Seeing the same 50 lvl 16 rogues in shadowfang keep 24/7 for far too long.
Constantly having at least 4 rendered mages and hunters farming in the open world no matter where we go.
It just feels like absolute BS for Blizzard to not ban instantly. We can all spot em easily. Why can’t Blizzard ?
Yeah that would involve some kind of input and setup required by the bots though to actively monitor buying/selling. They can effectively just set up and new account and have the bot running a script farming low lvl herbs or grinding certain mobs with minimal effort. Sure they won’t be making the equivalent to what a person could actively make doing certain things, but it doesn’t really matter when you have literally hundreds of bots making 4-5 x the cost of a sub before getting banned (if they even all do get banned). It’s such a no brainer for them because the break even margin is so low. Add in people using VPNs or running from regions that have much lower sub costs and those profits will be even bigger.
I’m sure by this stage everyone has seen the video of the bot setup that is running like 500 odd accounts all being monitored on like 8 huge displays. That is basically what you’re dealing with it’s insane.
Absolutely, the point is that they break even in a matter of hours already.
So, I sure as hell hope hope that Blizzard has dropped their ban waves nonsense, because if they can’t detect and ban bots in a matter of hours - they might as well just give up and into WoW token into SoD tomorrow.
Blizzard can’t get rid of bots because that would get rid of their automated customer support system.
well said : D
sure it wont complety get rid of bots/hackers
but with GDKP running rampent over at classic era/wotlk and starting in SoD
this problem gonna be worse over time becuase the demand on gold buying from GDKP runners
why i made this thread: https://eu.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/suggest-no-gdkps-in-sod-please-do-anything-to-make-gdkps-not-worth-it-to-form-legit-anything-please/485833
and if banning GDKP or something to combat GDKP
the less demand for people who need to buy gold
and the less people botting/hacking : ofc not 100% complety get rid of it
BUT gonna make less of this so it can be easier for blizzard to take care of the rest
Bruh, you must be new round these parts, because gold selling existed in WoW from the beginning long before GDKP was a thing.
i know that i have being at wow since vanilla to wotlk and then dipped on and off until wod
and returned 2 months ago
but the GDKP concept is getting mainstream inbetween the time i have not played
and that sure made this issue alot worse than it already was back when before people was doing GDKPs
It does not work what they’re doing so just stop it u can see bots every single night in Westfall and duskwood from 00:00-05:00
I don’t care, hire a GM and get rid of them, you have enough money, take it out of Bobby Kotick’s pocket.
They have to be careful, since they stopped paying humans for customer support they wanna avoid banning regular players accidentally. They’re good guys, actually.
this issue with botters is so bad now
that botters has started to mass report a normal human player: for theirs name if they are taking theirs farm
and becuase of automated systems over at blizzard it works sadly
so the botters is legit winning the ban war
to fuel GDKP runs
also if calling out GDKP: same case here
and yes it is infact GDKP that makes the demand for the botting problem is this big compare to pre-GDKP days when vanilla/TBC to early wotlk was retail
its legit some kind of mafia
