Player Harassment

It’s no secret that the playerbase of WoW has become more and more toxic over the years.
But I think today I’ve seen the lowest form of toxicity in World of Warcraft and since we all had to agree to the Social Contract to be decent human beings, Blizzard should be starting to re-think a few things when it comes to Player Harassment.

I’ve been running dungeons on an alt all day today, the usual, nobody talks, some leave afterwards, some queue up again all fine. Until I am in a group who kick me out during the last bossfight denying me of the loot satchel and the bonus EXP.
And the best part is you cannot report players for behaving in this manner because it works as intended for Blizzard.

I quote: “Groups are empowered to manage their own members through the vote-kick system. If the majority of the group feels a player should be removed, they can initiate a vote-kick to remove them. The system is entirely under the control of our players. Players may choose to remove any other player from the group for any reason, provided the vote to kick passes.”

So even if the intention is harassing a player by kicking them and wasting their time for not getting what they earned as in EXP and loot, Blizzard doesn’t see an issue with it. All you have to do is find two dirt bags queue up for dungeons and kick people out of the group whenever you want, just going around harassing people.

So I encourage everyone, down below talk about a situation you found yourself in feeling harassed but had no chance of reporting it because it didn’t fit in any of Blizzard’s neat report sub-menu’s so hopefully Blizzard can do something to serve their community better.

Just a correction, a majority is required to kick someone in a LFG so they had to have another player agree (3 out of 5) to remove you even if they were a duo premade.

Yeah you have to have 3/5, so you and two others who want to be nasty is all you need.

Some will just click yes to get the message off their screen without even thinking about it. Doesn’t make it any better mind you
I used to see some crazy random vote kicks going through before I could even click no

Blizzard are very good at affirming how important it is for everyone to behave without making sure anyone actually follows those rules.

They are like a government with no police force.

Blizzard will check if any rules are broken if player reports are sent in, they don’t have a GM looking over everyone’s shoulder.

I smell a hidden background story here. I bet there was something else going on in the dungeon

I wonder how many reports they received about the absolutely rampant botting problems in Classic?

They claim over 200,000 accounts are banned every month. I don’t believe them. Like I actually think they are straight up lying.

If you’ve feedback about that you can react to their recent actions thread here:

Personally, I don’t think its a lie its just that they return like a cat-mouse game.

The most toxic is when you have 3 or 4 friends in the same group then you have no chance in hell if you are going to get kicked sad but true. They should remove that dungeon de buff you get if you get kicked that is just a kick in the teeth from blizzard imo

I have, many times. Obviously they don’t respond.

PS: Well not that particular one, but past ones like it.

PPS: The reason I don’t believe them is that there have been many interviews and other private conversations with botters who keep their characters alive for months, saying they don’t get that many bans anymore. Regardless of how many they are banning, players are clearly managing to get through a 250 hour levelling process, hacking the whole way there I might add, and start farming for thousands of hours.

I had a player said he’s going to report me when I kicked them, saying I’m impacting their gameplay… when I kicked them out of a time rift raid group while they were leeching atop the central pillars doing nothing.

I assure you, there was nothing going on, it was a dungeon like every other, no talking, no whipe, just wailing caverns.
That is why I was so confused, like I’d understand it if someone didn’t get all quests done and was mad and blamed me or anything but nobody said anything.

Lmao, few years ago i was also kicked from wailing caverns for doing low dps. I mean i had two buttons at disposal and i did made sure to use both, but whatever.

Then i received whisper: are you crying?

I was guilty of this 3-4 years ago, was doing dungeons with 3 other friends when we got put into random que stratholme. The moment we started the pug was abusive, calling the tank slow, calling the healer bad and ninja pulling to make the thing go faster. 2 friends said “let just kick him” and i said “no no, lets wait”. We cleared the dungeon all the way up to rivendare and just before the boss room opened i said “ok, now we remove him” he was swiftly removed from group and instantly starting w/ my tank friend just lines and lines of slurs so we all reported. we waited until a extra dps was found just so the new guy would get random dungeon XP for the whole dungeon just from killing 1 boss, mount dropped for a friend as well which none of us needed so new guy also got a new mount. 2 days later we all got ingame mail saying action has been taken due to our report. I still look back at that moment of karma to this day.

And you genuinely believe that?

I know several players that have gone unpunished after displaying despicable behaviour, tried and tested it with friends too, apart from some clear cut (which i assume are automatically detected) „ban words“ they don’t seem to check anything.

I barely had any toxic interaction with players within the last year. And I did play quite a lot of Mythic+ this season and the last one.

Maybe you are just getting unlucky? Or I am just lucky?

If you want to get rid of the message off your screen only the option to vote NO is immediately available. You actually have to wait to vote Yes.

I’ve been kicked for no reason a couple times when levelling countless alts.
I remember how infuriating it made me feel. I can totally understand your anger.

It’s hard to prove an unjust action without video evidence. It’s your word against theirs.

If something was said during the dungeon, sure blizzard can look at chat logs and take it from there. I’m betting nothing was said directly to you before they kicked you though?

The best thing to do is not waste your time dwelling on it.

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience.

Just remember, don’t let a few bad players ruin something in which you’ve rarely had issues with before.

Is that new? genuinely had no idea, though when I’m fighting or listening to music I’m zoned to fudge :joy:
Takes me 3-5 working days to even realise lol

Side note, most ridiculous reason I was kicked was in storm brewery MoP timewalking dungeon. Told the DH tank to hide behind pillar to group the little peppers and got kicked… haha
