Well, it’s like this buddy: I don’t think you would like it if you were to go to a restaurant, order something and then have to pay extra because the staff didn’t bother to cook it properly the first time, would you?
Normal behavior: you notify the staff that the meal is not ok and they should fix the problem, no extra cost, it’s their mess.
I’m on flamelash also. Didn’t think as many ppl and guilds would move so I stayed. I have one of each class on there and bank alt. Characters range from 12 to 47. Lots in high 30s so I’ve invested a lot of time. No way I’m paying to transfer all as it would be too expensive. All I really want is the auction house to be cross realm but guess it’s nothing they would ever do.
Here’s my story. I started this character on Flamelash. He is the guild master and I also have a priest at level 36. Honestly in hindsight I should’ve stayed away from PVP server but rose tinted goggles and all that. Nevertheless, it became my home. I knew people, built relationships both good and bad, and made a lot of friends. Then I started hitting the contested zones.
Now I’m no pro pvper, I can usually hold my own in s 1v1 against someone of a close level for a while, but to be constantly ganked by players 30 levels higher than you, in groups, who then constantly camp your corpse forcing you to log an alt so you can at least play for a bit is no fun, make no mistake. This was even before P2 hit. It was griefing, plain and simple.
I eventually left everything behind and rerolled on Nethergarde Keep, having learned to stay away from PVP servers. I still have these two guys on Flamelash and I like to check in now and then, but last night I did a head count and counted 75 players on Alliance side. At 8pm. This is prime time, when Nethergarde Keep is at over 2k alliance players (yes, I counted those too for comparison). Seventy. Five. On a whole server.
Tonight I logged on to my priest and headed to Arathi to farm the fire elementals. It was me and me alone in Arathi for Alliance, but at least 7 Horde that I was aware of. Many of them were quite surprised to see me and were hugging amd dancing with me, until a mage turned up, 24 levels higher than me, and reminded me very swiftly why that server died.
It’s not Blizzard’s fault. It’s the community’s. If the community hadn’t been so crap then there wouldn’t have been a mass exodus when the transfers opened. Obviously the transfers only msde it worse, but this was an effect rather than the course.
I’ve mailed everything to my warrior and will transfer him tomorrow. Good luck to the horde on their one sided dead PVE server. It’s a shame that a minority had to ruin it for the rest.
Dude, it is Blizzards fault, they should have taken measures to prevent this kind of crap, wishing for nice behaving customers is naive at best, especially when it comes to games and competitions. Imagine how this would go if someone would skip the line at the store and instead of asking that person to respect the queue or leave the staff would be like “it’s the community’s fault, we can’t do anything about it”. I’m not saying Blizzard should ask players to leave, I’m saying they should take proper measures to handle this sort of situations.
On the top of my head the following solutions come to mind:
free realm transfer (to balance out pops)
free faction movement (to balance out factions)
more realms to reduce the density of players
Yes, eventually horde people will transfer to Alliance when there is nothing to do.
