Please can we split battlegrounds by language?

It’s bad enough having to play premade vs pug, but when you further screw us by forcing us to play with people who can’t even speak the same language its ridiculous.

Blizzard didn’t care about bgs in classic since release, not sure why you expect that to change near the end.

This whole let it die mentality makes zero sense.

There are no plans to shut down the servers, phase 6 doesn’t have an end date and people playing the game are in their full rights to provide feedback.

With that said I think it is better to keep them mixed for shorter queues overall.

Is not like there is a lot of successful communication in pug bgs

I do get occasional very successful communication in Pugs, and i feel i would experience those moments far more if we all spoke the same language.

Earlier today in AB, we were winning, but then went down to 2 bases for quite a while with farm/bs capped, but very weird un-coordinated small attacks all over the place on other bases. I told everyone it wasn’t working, we should do a big push on 1 base, and asked where we should push. Some guy said LM, i said Okay all attacks push LM, 7 of us went LM capped it, and we then held LM, BS, and Farm for the rest of the game with good defense calls.

If i got bad luck with half the raid not understanding English that becomes way harder. It’s way worse in Warsong gulch when your flag carrier doesn’t understand English. The reason i wrote this post was me, and our FC were sitting on roof in WSG. i saw 5 alliance pushing up the Banana, and knew we had to retreat. I messaged him run to graveyard, he replied to me with some i think German gibberish that i didn’t understand at all. He then died, and alliance capped. It was just so tilting, as after further attempts at communication, it was clear this druid did not speak a word of English. Which makes doing things like dropping flag for him, or telling him to get ready for cap, or any basic things just impossible. Since i don’t speak a word of German either.

I disagree. First, languages that don’t have many players will get fewer battlegrounds, or even none at all. And second, basic orders (such as “cap”) are understood by 99.9% of those players. If you whisper a player “cap” and he does not respond, consider he may be ignoring you deliberately.

why should normal people suffer because of others inability to understand the lingua franca? They already have their own servers they should be quarantined to, should take it a step further.

Also shouldn’t match Russians with Europeans as long as their names are in cyrillic, might aswell be playing against chinese/korean.

Either language does impact gameplay, or it doesn’t. There’s no reason to limit the alphabets if it doesn’t, or if it does then there’s no reason to mix the languages.

If a language group is too small to ever be able to mix effective communication with battlegrounds actually happening, those language groups should be merged together. Then you can put like 6 French players, with 4 Spanish players in WSG (2 of them can speak basic English), and let them deal with that crap show. Without impacting language groups that are clearly large enough to host there own bgs, and get there games ruined.

I mean if you look at videos on American servers, you can see the communication tends to be a lot better, as almost everyone speaks good respectable English.

And people need to understand things beyond cap. You need to be able to tell your flag carrier, run to graveyard. Or your healer protect FC/ come help kill EFC please etc

So how do you see it. Make you do a language test when signing in the queue?

Or would you just give every single country their own separate BG’s?

Or would you decide on a whole country that none of it’s citizens speak your preferred language entirely?

Maybe just create a UK queue and one for the rest of EU?

… You do know the servers are separated by languages, right? There’s English (main one for most of EU), German, French, Spanish and Russian realm groups, for the realms hosted in EU.

Yes I know. Still don’t see why that is a reason to isolate them in their own tiny BG groups.

And I am Dutch, I don’t have a Dutch realm, as is the same for most countries. What if I could not speak English, that would not solve the OP’s problem he has with people not speaking his language.

The battlegroups were isolated for years before they merged them in later expansions. And they were all separated by languages of the servers. So it’s not like there’s no precedent, and those servers were much smaller population-wise than the Classic servers as well.

Season 14 was the first season when they had completely removed all battlegroups iirc. That was at the end of the MoP expansion. (It was the second-to-last season of that expac.)

Thing is, something which you don’t realise, is that people deliberately chose not to play on the English realms. Intentionally. Yet Blizzard is disrespecting that choice by shoving everyone together into a mismatch of a matchmaking, completely disregarding that deliberate choice to not play on English servers.
I’d argue it’s not fair to anyone to force them to still be expected to communicate in English, despite having chosen against it when creating their characters.

And it certainly doesn’t make any sense whatsoever, considering the huge variety of multilinguals in Europe, to limit the alphabets to only the Roman alphabet group, or cyrillic on Russian realms, when they clearly don’t care about separating people based on chosen languages & alphabets.

Why can’t people use the Greek alphabet in names for example? Makes no sense whatsoever. The language support sucks in this game.

As far as i’m aware most dutch people play on English realms, using the English client, which means to even be able to reach level 60 they have to understand basic English. If you’re on an English realm, you probably understand very basic English.

If you’re on a Russian or french realm it’s possible you understand no English. I would also add that why is Russia the only county separated off? What makes Russian worse for communication?
I mean sure people using the latin alphabet can’t type there name out, but lets be real that doesn’t matter. If a German guy can’t speak a single word of English being able to type an approximation of his name doesn’t help.

I’ve “spoken” with people from the UK with such thick accents I could not understand a word of it. And with French and German people who spoke the Queens English.

You can not say: Your from a German realm so your not allowed within our BG’s because you do not speak English! You don’t know if they do or do not. And its Europe, majority of people are not native English speaking, it is quite rude IMO to want to separate people from a part of “your” game just because they do not speak your language on EU realms.

If you really can not stand being in an international “team” go premade?

You do all speak the same language - VICTORY is that language. Stop talking and get on with it perhaps ? If you have time to talk your not a very good player.

I’m not saying no French/German people can speak English. Plenty can, but plenty cannot as well. Peoples accents don’t really matter in typed chat.

I’m not saying French people can’t play battlegrounds, they just play as a team of players from a French realm, where they can all communicate in french. A language i’m sure 99% of the people who play on a French realm can communicate in to some degree.

Then on English realm we’ll still have loads of Dutch, and Scandinavian guys, but if they’re playing on an English realm, they probably speak basic English, so won’t cause a problem.
