So i guess everyone on reddit or the millions of people who watch videos about it and support the ideas we are talking about are the entitled minority of high and raiders… interesting. It’s also good to know that i’m a high end raider, life is full of surprises.
blizzard putting bad designs into the game will not cause the playerbase or at least the pug world change their opinions, the only way to make it change is to refuse the ability to change at all. if you have the ability to change then people will expect you to do that, because the pug world expects people to outright change classes to other stuff because of them being better
there is also a massive different between being able to swap between abilities that are tied to your class that you should have access to, and comparing that to someone just wanting to use an ability that there is no reason for them to be able to use. its not like that warrior you used as an example had the choice between picking blizzard and mortal strike and then choose to take mortal strike and then got locked out of blizzard.
it would be closer to them making the choice to take anger management as a talent and then never being able to use ravager again, as they are actual options, not some inane pointless comparison that could never possibly happen
I will create my own group and do just fine doing +15 with nonoptimal group while having lot of fun playing my own way.
Gl finding optimal players with right covenant for your mythic+. Enyoj your 3 hours of creating group.
What player identitly? Im a Warlock casting come thing as a Holy Azerite beam, or casting something that is a Void skill called twitlight devastation.
What are you talking about?
thats what people are asking for, we dont want to swap between covenants we want the class abilities to be seperate from the covenants so that we can swap, that way the covenants can still be a choice that means something while not locking away player power
Explain how it would ruin it for the rest? How does my gameplay got anything to do with others?
Where in lore is writen classes cant use different type of magic?
It would make picking covenant less impactfull and eberybody would be forced to play meta just like everybody is forced to fly even when you can still use ground mounts.
That’s because you are a NEW PLAYER and don’t know how most of the players who ACTUALLY PLAY this game suffer from it.
Thanks for wishing us good luck, we will need thanks to Blizzard and people who want singleplayer fantasy in a game where the only relevant contents are instanced.
there are people that already claim that they just pick what ever talents they want to and dont conform to the meta, its not always neccesary, if you want to you should have that choice
How do most of the players play the game and where did you find that knowledge? You have access to Blizzards data?
It says it in the class description.
Warlock
-Role: Ranged Damage
-Summon powerful demon servants to do your bidding.
-Curse, Drain, and afflict your targets with corruption.
-Burn your enemies with fire and shadow ranged magic.
How is every1 not going to be forced into the meta for their content anyhow? One covenant is gonna be better for X conent and thus will be meta. Aslong as something is the best for X content there will always be a meta.
Where is it written in the lore that paladins always ran around using unholy magic, or warlocks using holy magic? Literally nowhere because they don’t do that.
It’s actually starting to get impressive how you defy common sense for the sake of your argument.
Entire wow content is relevant.
Relevant for farming mounts/achies for days without end.
Good to know, now i’m immediately going to do a world quest for a 410 trinket and show my guild the incredible progress i made today with this relevant content.
If there is no rule what forbides warlock use holy magic then he can in fact use holy magic.
Player identity and agency is created every time they make a choice. Even if that choice is to change to something else.
The identity is that of the class, not of the covenant.
I don’t become a Necrolord when i join the Necrolord covenant, i’m still a Paladin, a Retribution Paladin. I’m just working with them for a common goal. I don’t become a death knight for sure.
The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
There is no identity to be had here.
And if you want to go the full RPG route.
I’m befriending all the covenants, it’s not logical how once they show me how to use their power i suddenly forget when i say, i’ll work with “you” guys for now.
I would not forget those powers and the others would not take it away from me.
Why? you ask.
Because they want me to be successful so i can kill their enemy, our enemy, our common enemy.
The factions aren’t even at war, so it makes even less sense that i forget.
You see? This is where RPG takes a backseat to gameplay, why? because gameplay is as important as RPG elements. Imagine how OP i’d be gameplay wise if i could use all 8 powers at once.
So don’t hide behind RPG does this, RPG does that…, meaningful choices and other bullcrap it’s not possible to go full RPG. This new “RPG” element is a sham, i’m calling it, a metrics sham.
They’re not trying to resolve some meta problem. And this definitely won’t resolve any issue except limit player choices.
