Don’t be deceived by this relatively minor data pool.
The very same poll was made in 2019 and it was similar to this. The reality is warriors, rogues and hunters and mages will be the most populated classes (for good reason).
Followed by priest/pally/shaman and finally lock/druid.
Most of the warlock polls here are influenced by the illusion of being 1v1 gods ( soul link) but in reality you won’t be playing that spec in bgs/raids or even open world farming.
Plus locks are horrible in raids, dps is too low and threat is too high plus you’re mostly there to apply your respective curse so raid spots are not as open as people make it seem ( as someone who did 99s and some 100s i believe i know this best).
If you’re ranking in a premade you’ll probably be playing destro, there are some arguments to be made about soul link defending bases on AB but there are better options (rogue/druid/hunter) and wsg/av you’re basically leeching.
So if your goal is to play a dot caster in pvp then go shadow priest. If you wanna rank as shadow i suggest you roll alliance due to the way faction comps work ( horde priest need to heal/def dispel coz shammies are playing ele/offense dispel ,whereas alliance pala can dispel defensively and only priest can fill the offensive dispel slot since no shammies, that opens up a slot for shadow on alliance premades).

I agree with everything you wrote. I’ve never been satisfied with being a warlock in Classic. I hate that Soul Link is the best for 1v1 while another spec is better for battlegrounds. SM Ruin or Deep Destro is nowhere near as good as a Sub Rogue or Frost Mage in 1v1, while those specs can also perform well in battlegrounds. It’s really unfair.
I’m thinking of just going dagger Rogue. At least combat daggers (PvE) can still be decent in PvP when being in a PvE spec
Just can’t decide between orc or ud rogue. Both have valuable racials for pvp
As someone who played orc for years, the stun resist is too rng imo.
It will never proc when you want it to most of the time, i know a lot of people cry about it coz they only experience it from the other end but from the orc’s perspective 9 out 10 times the kidney/hoj/nade etc will land. Making it quite bothersome.
I’ve generally opted for more consistency even if i have to deal with the stuns ( dealing with them anyway most of the time), so i recommend playing what u like most visually ( for me its going to be undead this time for sure).
Ye, but resisting a stun (many of those around) is really huge for a rogue, cause there is no way to get out unless using an expensive pot.
I still don’t really know on what to play, but I’m leaning towards the rogue now. I really like orc warlock, but cba this time around (always been jealous of mages with their mobility and escapes) and in pve they were always more wanted
What are you going to play?
I played an orc warlock primarily the last round and although i did everything from r14 to naxx clears it was a struggle.
Lock will never beat the prime classes on dps ( no matter how much u min/max) and bgs you’re practically an inferior version of ele shaman. The only saving grace is curse of tongues which is the main reason to take a lock in premades.
Leveling and open world content was enjoyable though and i do love the 1vx skirmishes on a lock but i’m sure now i will not be doing the same thing.
Mage has it way easier in almost every scenario as a caster. And as a melee you scale better due to how weapon damage works.
It’s basically down to warrior, mage or rogue for me ( dps wise), we’ll see though.
Yes, indeed, I agree. I have also played a lot of warlock. It can be strong, but once a rogue has stunlocked you with a reflector and cooldowns, it’s basically over if you’re not SL specced. It’s also very annoying when a geared warrior charges you while something else is hitting you from the side.
At least a mage can block, wait it out for teammates to come and help, or use nova/blink, etc. Even when playing with a succubus, I felt inferior to the mage. I also hate that you don’t always have the right pet ready for the right occasion. Warlock is clearly an unfinished class in vanilla, with the developers having no insight on what to do with it.
How do you see rogues doing (Horde) in premades?
Exactly the same as 2019.
I’ll definitely have a Druid again, especially if the servers stay at TBC and don’t go WotLK. But I will also want an Orc Shaman, I think.
Dwarf Hunter
Night Elf Priest
Tauren Druid
Orc Shaman
