PTR Spoiler/Discussion Thread (Part 1)

Well, that one’s easy at least. Bwonsamdi is a death god, it’s his job description to deal with the afterlife. Elune, as far as we know, as never been shown to be particularly powerful/present, and might not even be able to touch the Afterlife when she doesn’t have a vessel (Tyrande) in.

For the Renewal/Vengeance thing, I want to believe (and it’s probably not what Blizzard meant but I am optimistic sometimes) that it meant “Tyrande went through the ritual and it must go to its end, and there’s only enough power/lifeforce/whatever left to do either Vengeance or Renewal as the Night Warrior. (but she can keep doing the justice thing once she is back to not Night Warrior)”

Telling a story of how vengeance isn’t justice for the night elves would take a whole expansion and nobody’s going to do that.

same tbh

Can’t wait for people to then ask ‘well, what’s gna happen to night elves now??’ and for the devs to just reply with ‘well, this cinematic was the finale of the night elven story, are you not happy???’

it’s all we’re gna get yooo

Honestly, the most bizarre part of it all to me is that to Elune, consciously allowing the genocide of the night elves and leaving her “favoured children” to burn and die en masse is not the part in which she “condemned” them, but only in the knowledge that their souls went to the wrong place are they considered to be “condemned” to her

Err … OK I guess … so it only became a problem when your people’s souls didn’t serve the purpose you wanted them to

just like with the initial proposal, why not both!!

what would it be called? cothe? seepe? copeethe?

The only good part about any of this is that once again nelves get owned.

(i havent even seen the cinematic)

The “fist pump moment” for the Alliance.

Were that Dark Troll tribe who got mutated by the Well… actually we don’t know that was Her plan all along or not - only the Nelvs tells the story that way - Elune led those Trolls to the Well and teached them to write and read Titanic (kaldorei IS a titanic word) and how to use those artifacts they found around the Well (wich itself was a sort of titanic facility, they built that gapping wound around to contain it)
Maybe she wanted those Trolls to be the Zandalari 2.0 but they ended up something… eh… okay. I suspect it was in the end, okay you could worship me, I will give you powers, but don’t call us, we call you - relationship.
Never trust a deity that have a one night stand with a stag spirit whose antlers got tangled in the tapestry of the night sky while he was running from hunters (Tauren I think) and couldn’t resist or escape from that love…
[Tho I think they kinda retconed that story where Elune basically rap… you know what she done with that poor trapped stag…]

A corpse should be left well alone. Oh I know, how the secrets beckon so sweetly. Only an honest death will cure you now. Free you from your wild curiosity.

“You can’t kill hope.”
“Can’t I?”

realising that Blizzard isn’t writing the story for roleplayers or long-standing fans of the lore, but for PVE paypigs that faun over aesthetics and the rule of cool.

fr i’ve basically ascended to the wow rp equivalent of CHIM, reality is what i make of it now, the story as written by blizzard was never meant to bind roleplayers

I’m genuinely kind of scared of the ever increasing possibility that the writers actually do not know what death means.

Actually an incredibly solid take

When I watched it the first time, my feelings were churning and I felt a sense of betrayal regarding Elune’s character

After rewatching it a few times though, I feel it’s important to pay particular attention to the words, “In the wake of (tragedy)”
