Basically, nail on the head as it’s a plot point in the Garrosh leader story how he sees the mighty orgrimmar, something his people in nagrand couldn’t dream of, then he meets a poor orc struggling (bad water?) despite all this and wants something better for the Horde.

It sets him up as fighting for a better future for the orcs and as warchief he gets his chance. He proceeds to ignore advice and goes on a war of conquest to secure resources and land in ashenvale and gilneas. So far, all good. It’s what he would do.

Then he’s lumped in blizzard’s attempt at profoundness in pandaria where he and Varian fight for control and Varian rejects his warlike self while Garroah succumbs to it. Where Varian sees a threat in Y’shaarj, Garrosh sees a weapon and eventually is turned into the crude dictator we dethrone.

Later, he goes to draenor ostensibly to have a Horde free of demonic corruption and manipulation but manipulates his own father and murders a shaman to cover up his own lies just to have an army with which to take revenge on us. This is an interesting arc that goes nowhere as he’s never called out on being a reverse gul’dan who misled his people and gave them power (iron star tech etc) to conquer for his ambitions.

I keep continuously forgetting he was even a big part of that.
in-game he’s just kind of chilling in that 1 zone doing his thing with the Warsongs, not really doing anything of any note, waiting for Thrall to show up to kill him in a cinematic.

It’s even more accurate because Garrosh is very vocal about how he despises Gul’dan, the fel, and demons in general. And then he turns into the exact beast he tried to prevent, in all but flesh. Even his “corruption” with Y’shaarj was very ironic in the sense because Gul’dan equally claimed that he was always in control of the Fel, and not the other way around.

Honestly as was said earlier, I think Garrosh’s story was, compared to a whole lot of other characters in the game, very good. That’s not to say that his story couldn’t have been done better and more justice to (that goes for most other characters too, in fairness), but even his end in the Maw managed to stay true to his character. Unapologetic, set in his ways, and no regrets. He told that to Thrall, he told that in the Trial, and he told that in the afterlife.

If only all this lore was available extensively to the people who pay a monthly subscription to play the game…

Blizzard loves to not set up any villains beforehand so there could be moments of ‘whoa??? new villain!!! so mysterious!!! who is jailer and what are his motives??’

because it’s just so easy to not care about any of those questions until the last patch where you write the simplest answer and think you’ve done something

in fact blizzard doesn’t like showing nor telling tbh, just get in ur anima cagey and do your world quests raids invasions torghast korthia stuff

He wanted to remake reality and so he did.

He is now a catgirl in Limsa Lominsa, his character’s name is Z’ophie Jaylor.

We kinda know who but the hows and whys are still weirdly vauge. Aside from presumably looking to reset the afterlife to his own specification.

It’s also really weird how big a deal the covenant seals were when they could just “reassert their purpose” and sneeze out new ones.

They were going to have us go into the alternate timeline afterlife to get some spares but then they remembered they made all timelines go into one afterlife so they weren’t able to steal the time heist idea from Avengers, despite their best efforts.

I just want a pointing spiderman moment between the two dead gul’dans.

Unfortunately everyone in the shadowlands gets turned into rope so they stole us of that possibility.

Which is really creepy if you’re a draenor mag’har whose main timeline counterpart is already dead.

Orgrimmar in Un’goro would have been awesome.

The whole transcending all timelines & realities both with the legion and shadowlands is still the worst idea anyone has ever had & the person who thought up this should not be allowed near anything related to writing ever again.

They actually are gonna fix that in 9.1.5 by adding town dwellers :+1::+1::+1:

Well Afrasiabi was the one who mentioned the Legion crosses all timelines
And Danuser was the one who discussed Shadowlands crossing all timelines

So…
