PTR Spoiler/Discussion Thread (Part 1)

It’s more of a praise here on what he did despite the backlash he got in return. I didn’t read that as a cheap shot at blizzard.

‘‘leave alone the multimillion dollar company!!!’’

I didn’t really get that vibe from reading his post but whatever. Regardless, it is true, Asmon for years and years has been ignored and, at times, called out by Blizzard in everything but positivity. Especially in more recent times. Certain people from the WoW community hate him so much for some weird reason. It’s sad. I hope someday they will see he’s an actual good guy who has been taking care of his mother for years and would, without question, do the same for his father.

I felt terrible yesterday and I cannot imagine how horrendous it must feel. When I grew up, I was probably around 10-11 years old and the mother of my best friend died. She was a 2nd mother to me and it felt horrible, something I’ve still not 100% recovered from.

Zack always soldiered on despite Blizzard ignoring him, despite being the biggest WoW streamer, despite Asmon knowing an insane amount of the game and despite receiving flak from players and even certain WoW content creators. Many people considered him the boogeyman of the WoW community yet it is the exact opposite.

I hope he recovers well and it gladdens me that thousands of people across the world support him.

Do you seriously not know why people might dislike him or are you doing a bit?

Yes, it’s sad his mum is gone, but acting like he’s* not a toxic individual himself, and encourages his toxic fanbase? Come on. And when he is, as you noted, the “biggest WoW streamer” well suddenly that’s making your preferred MMO not look particularly great, if he’s the ‘consumer face’ of it. It’s not that hard to figure out why people might not be a fan.

*or the character he plays on twitch it honestly does not matter, what’s “in his heart”.

You can feel sympathy/empathy for his loss without suddenly whitewashing his entire history+online persona.

How is Asmongold toxic?

don’t sealion, it’s not even a question about whether asmongold is toxic lol

just weird for you to use his mum’s death to also jab at blizzard, it feels both disingenuous and disrespectful.

I’m not. I just pointed out the truth that the company has by far and large treated him like a toxic person, whilst at the same time being the people who groped their co-workers and lead to one of their co-workers death.

Meanwhile Zack, who occasionally (often) calls Blizzard for their BS and points out the very obvious problems with their culture + game that others refused to admit, is called toxic, despite the man dedicating his latest years to nursing his sick mom.

As I told when this whole debacle happened, I am once again telling how hypocritical the people that blame him for toxicity are (and in the wrong), when he is none of the things that he is blamed for, save for being obtuse, blunt, and angry. Those don’t make someone a toxic person.

But, again: How is he a toxic person? Just because he disagrees with you (or me, we disagree on a lot of things) doesn’t make him toxic.

This yeah. For years employers from Blizzard and some die-hard fans of Blizzard berated him for “living in his moms basement”, having a fake girlfriend or w/e, and being an angry loser of a gamer, despite the guy breaking his back taking care of his mom, openly talking about his feelings and insecurities and being kind to people/offering them a chance to speak. He also does charity on the regular.

Zack’s the complete opposite of a toxic male yet is called one- Hence, I wanted to call out the hypocrisy and lies.

Anyone else got that mail from Blizzard speaking of updates?

"Notice of Change of Contracting Entity

If you do not wish to accept this change, you may cancel your service by visiting https://eu.battle.net/support before December 31, 2021."
(Translation with DeepL because I’m lazy.)

That’s normal. Blizzard’s French entity got sacked and those customers who were legally using their services are getting migrated to the UK one.

Had it too a couple of days ago.

Yeah I got that. Didn’t make a lick of sense to me, legal documents and rules are too thick for me to go through.

I think I saw this in the launcher after the last update, in English.

Oh wow, he finally got out of his cave or basement to talk.

Well, at least he acknowledges the players desire for returning to grounded stories, and it seems the team also feel that way somewhat. If we get a return to Azeroth and cross-faction play, that’ll be pretty redeeming after Shadowlands.

Dodged the question about whether we’re getting 9.2.5 or 9.3 though, typical Ion.

They should abolish the factions, or at least make them able to do content together. The Alliance is basically dead, and tweaking racials isn’t going to do much, because people generally just go where they can easier find people to play with.

I don’t want a 9.3. I think this trainwreck of an expansion should be abandoned like WoD was, so we can get a good one, like Legion.
