They have to once again go over the Jailer’s part in the story because there’s otherwise nothing noteworthy about him.
damn I can’t believe that the Jailer is actually Anduin’s father
and also he did the path of glory
and also he corrupted sargeras
and also he tried to blow up northrend using the eye of sargeras
and also he kicked my dog
You know. You know what could have been interesting? Tying LK’s of other worlds to him.
Like literally. Arthas/Ner’zhul was his whatever attempt at a LK(which was lame to begin with, but the Jailer in general is lame and leeching from the story like Tred’ova is leeching from Akali). Double down at it. Let his failed-before-Lich-Kings be a fight in his raid or dungeon or whatever. Show us that not only the Night-Warrior is a interplanet thing, but the LK is aswel.
Double. Down. On. It.
But before that. SHOW. DON’T. TELL.
In this case, they failed on every front. Akin on how they failed to show the Jailer as a proper villain on every front because they had to insert him into storylines going all the way back to War3. Which is just sad and literally anyone writer who needs to do that… Failed miserable and as a Human being for leeching on other peoples mediocre’s stories.
(Hell they could’ve retro-actively explained Arthas/LK’s failure on Azeroth due to him getting control over the Scourge from multiple different planets, instead of just one. Also does the fact there were multiple LK’s over the cosmos mean we get alien DK’s aswell?)
Datamined. Garbage ending. Fitting conclusion for the character.
I wonder if we’ll get yet another cinematic with:
Question or statement
music swells with a pregnant pause, as the camera zooms in on character’s face
one-liner that reuses a word from question or statement
hard-cut to black synced to a drum beat
Excuse you, we’re still copying FFXIV/MCU here, so we’ll get a post black screen with “X will return.”
I will probably reach the endwalker ending tomorrow so by then I’ll be able to tell you all the specifics of how 9.2 will end.
Maybe it wasn’t the pinnacle of writing back then either, but atleast it was far less grand and atleast somewhat consistent with each other…
Please don’t compare Endwalker to this travesty.
Must there always be (thunder rumble) a jailer?
Honestly? I would have been fine with the plague being a thing stolen from the Shadowlands by the Burning Legion. It’s quite on brand for Sargeras to assimilate whatever dangerous stuff he can find into his burning crusade.
What I don’t like is how the Jailor was tacked on to the Frozen Throne and most of its characters/events. It served absolutely no other purpose than to cement Danuser’s creation in a far superior narrative.
Only seen screenshots posted on bird app, but seems like the new Zekhan/Kalimdor book is full of Yikes after Yikes… what a surprise
‘Jungle troll needs civilised Elf to teach him to read and write’ and ‘Why are the Night Elves throwing away their now-limited lives when the Horde has been attacking them for decades’ are certainly… Interesting.
Just like the EK one; hot garbage.
Just like the EK one, gonna read it and complain about it the whole time.
This troll is up to something and has the funds to hire a teacher.
Unfortunate Goblin stereotypes and Night Elves being depicted as unreasonable for not being happy about being genocided, sounds like classic WoW content to me tbh!
Galaxybrain Zekhan truly out here wondering why the Night Elves are fighting because there’s so few of them, really wonder why there’s so few of them you wacky zappy chunkerino!!!
illiterate jungle savages in need of educating by enlightened men, night elf angst and trauma p*rn, and shockingly large goblin noses, just another warcraft day really
…They really are digging themselves deeper with every move, aren’t they.
Tempted to buy the book just to see how they butchered Kalimdor lore (and night elf lore in particular), but I’m really loathe to give Blizzard even a cent more than I already did.
my favorite line I’ve seen so far is Zekhan being really confused and weirded out by the fact that while he understands the nelves feel like they’ve not had justice done, they’d react with violence towards said injustice, some real in-depth, bigbrain societal critique there
Is this referring to Zekhan? 'cos he was an ambassador in Shadow’s Rising and explicitly sent notes+messages back to Orgrimmar. Seems odd if he were illiterate. They could explain it away, potentially, with him having other people write the messages for him but for an Ambassador/Spy in a tense political situation that seems…kinda unlikely?
don’t the night elves know you’re meant to petition your congressperson to table a motion to allow a commission to explore the validity of their accusations?
