I was quite convinced Ve’nari was going to be a major player in the endgame of the Shadowlands; whether that was being the true 300 IQ 4D chess player, using the predictable nature of the Jailer for her own ends to escape, or break the Maw in its entirety. Her strangely encyclopedic knowledge, and being lowkey powerful enough to routinely dupe the man, seemed like she was more than met the eye.

They set up either a new big bad using us for her own ends or a trickster evil all along. Making sure she’s neither, just vanishing until next time is clever writing that subverts our expectaarghl…

It’s REALLY jarring seeing, on the one hand, EW being reacted to with (joyous) shock, happiness and overall satisfaction with the narrative. And I don’t even play FF at all, so just spectating.
And then there’s WoW, and everything related to it, where everyone is, justifiably mark you, going “What the actual, ever-loving F is this…?”
Funny how there’s utter silence from the narrative devs.
