I honestly think Tyrande shouldn’t survive, because her dying to avenge her people is actually fairly poetic storywise.
Hear me out.
War of Thorns: Tyrande, in order to save her and her husbands skin, flee the fight, leaving Teldrassil and countless Kaldorei to their fate, with only the word of one Horde general to trust. This results in countless deaths that she could quite easily have helped reduce or even stop entirely, if only she had cared for her people more than she did her husband (which is weird because she did the opposite thing in legion, choosing the temple over Malfurion but I digress).
Therefore, her finally getting revenge on Sylvanas and saving the Kaldorei souls from the Maw, before eventually succumbing and falling to the powers of the Night Warrior is a direct parallel to the War of Thorns, where she damned her people for her and her loves safety, she should now damn herself to save her people.
On top of this, it is established the Night Warrior is a one way thing, you’re basically destined to perish once you commit to the ritual, basically saying “lolnope u can live forever still” would completely take any weight and drama off of the ritual.
(oh and her dying would mean we’d get more Malfurion content AND whenever Illidan returns his reaction to Tyrande’s death would be harrowing too)
Just my personal wish for the story though, it would really be a poetic story structure AND open up more space for Night Elf characters to take Tyrande’s spotlight.
God I hope so…
just make it one of the “infinite truths” of the void or whatever
I would be okay with Tyrande and Malfurion peacing out together to give room for more/hew characters(Maybe Shandris as I like her).
But then I do want them to completly destroy Sylvanas and Nathanos in the process. Give them a clear victory with no sneaky tricks. Just let them have a win and let it be that.
Even though I’m a Sylvanas fan who has unironically gotten to the point where I’ve written analysis of her facial expressions in cinematics and how they betray how she acts, I would be willing to have Sylvanas die if it meant Tyrande got that poetic ending I mentioned.
I cant believe I trusted you
(Im joking)
He’ll sulk with Uther in the reverse daddy issues club, brooding over lost sons.
Seriously though, if they do nothing with Genn, I’m going to be the sulky one. The way I see it now, he’ll take Sylvanas’ arrow intended for Anduin in a repeat of losing Liam, finding some closure in that even if he never did find him in the shadowlands. At least he saved… one… son…gack
Thus we close the book on the whole reclaiming gilneas thing, preventing another stupid war for the north, letting the forsaken reform peacefully under Calia’s wise rule and the gilneans are placated by the upcoming royal wedding to Tess.
I’m not saying I like it but it’s likely.
If this ever happens, I will seriously weep. I may harp on Genn a lot offline or towards people who ask me about a summary of who he is (also offline), but I do love elements of him. But the fact that he would be able to sacrifice himself, to save one son at least (as you stated), it will be all worth it.
you had me until here
She has no business leading the forsaken
She doesn’t but these are my expectations for the writing.
Arthas is rescued from the Maw & finally gets some screen-time again. He reflects over the deeds he committed while soulless and working under the Scourge and he does regret them.
Seeing the power-vaccum left in the Forsaken ranks & leadership, Arthas returns to Azeroth to become the new Forsaken Leader, as he considers it his own duty due to him being responsible for their existence in the first place.
if that is your expectations, you more of an optimist than I thought.
It’s so awful that you might be right. “The rightful king returns” in full swing. His true, redeemed self, worthy of the throne by blood (which isn’t creepy!) and we all forget pre-lich king Arthas was in fact an egotistical, entitled jerk who gave off serious abuser red flags with his Jaina fling.
Blizzard has never been shy that they really fully buy into that leadership/ruling is a “right” pre-determined by either blood or destiny.
Not the case in the out-of-game novella Elegy though, and as we all know all the True Lore™ is hidden out of game…
no
if blizzard had made any, before, sure
in reality this would mean undead delaryn returning to the night elves with maiev’s help, so that she can teach malfurion about the light
I mean tbh Delaryn was a really cool new Night Elf in the pre-patch, seeing her come back would be really nice, I love her.
She was great in Elegy
Then she was raised, immediately decided that she wants to do a genocide before running off to hug Calia to teach her her ways… no hope for anything tied to that
that was Sira tbh
Delaryn was unironically abandoned by Tyrande, so her anger is much more understandable.
By which time every kaldorei raised to undeath apparently makes a choice to come back in such a state, which isn’t too weird if your final moments are entirely defined by “WHY, ELUNE?!” and then you stare down the Maw, no starlit paradise in sight.
Not a valid word when talking about most of the War of Thorns/Undead Nelves/Forsaken abandonment ‘plot’ points, in my opinion… >_>
