PTR Spoiler/Discussion Thread (Part 1)

I just know my butthole is gonna boil over when Tyrande inevitably either dies or goes “You were right all along Anduin! Vengeance is NOT the way.”

that’s something people overlook.

The Kaldorei had their leaders abandon them, watched their entire home burn… and what do they see? The promised paradise of Elune? No, they see abject and utter hell, beyond all measures hell, the very same hell that made Sylvanas turn traitor in the first place…

Would you blame them for being like “no, I’m dipping out of this literal hell hole, elune you’re a liar”?
I wouldn’t.

If any of this ‘totally planned from the start’ story was actually planned, then someone with even a dash of sense should have realised this was a perfect place for some hints and/or foreshadowing that all was not right with death/passing on, rather than it being a massive ‘what a twist’ sprung on us blind.

Even some key lines like “There was nothing… just hungering darkness” or, I dunno, anything.

Yeah that’s a good point. If the choice was the maw or coming back to serve Sylvanas …

A teary, war weary Tyrande realises all her faults and all seems to be well, the darkness fading from her eyes, cue dramatic Nightsong™ moment as she embraces Malfurion… only to crumble into dust Thanos style from the Night Warrior curse.

Not according to Elegy, wherein Tyrande staying in Stormwind is very much for the exact purpose of showing the refugees that their leaders are still with them!

“I’m dipping out, elune you’re a liar, I’m sending everyone else that was once like me to superhell now, victory for the person that sent me to superhell and killed all my loved ones!”*

I actually got the taste of vomit in my mouth from reading this.

You’re welcome.

to be fair, preach lost all credibility for me back in MoP when he raged at the expansion and it’s still wildly considered to be one of the best :woman_shrugging:

to be fair, it’d make sense with maw being torturous and whatnot, to also have torturous systems in place; but only if the skin coming off is also visualised, otherwise bad >:(

I think that’s the main reason why Tyrande and Malfurion can’t die. They haven’t made any characters for Night Elves to rally behind, Jarod became a random bozo for Mage Tower and doesn’t sound like a leader/general at all, Shandris became almost infantilized with ‘mummy!!!’ dialogue, Maiev is idk what.

We started getting characters through Sira and Delaryn ((especially Delaryn!!!)) and yet…they butchered them and gave them to the Forsaken who also need characters. I guess the plot is to not have characters, or you’ll get terrible ones. Gnomes better watch out!

It’s not what we overlook, but it’s what we didn’t know. Throughout all of BfA, the undead nelves were just like ‘raagh elune abandoned us now i commit everyone else to the same fate!!’

Like, no one thought to make a mention of ‘wait there’s no actual afterlife let’s all rethink our religion!’. No, they just decided to instead commit every other night elf to the same afterlife they dejected. Not buying it, Blizzard better do better.

(augh i didn’t read the last few posts why must you think my thoughts…)

I’m not even mad about all this because “Muh Night Elves”, I’m just mad on a “You have literally had the keys to the AAA Kingdom handed to you on a silver plate, with a devoted and creative player base, how are you hamfisting all of this SO badly and making it SO awful on a creative and objective level?!

Danuser needs a slap…

… Wait a minute.

If this all turns out that Sylvanas being redeemed, leaves the Horde, and for Arthas to return only for Jania to be at his side again, and then Tyrande dies due to being the Night Warrior only to be replaced by Malfurion. Is this seriously a message of why “Women can’t be leaders”?

don’t forget her also fawning over the living rambo meme in nazmir. shandris is dead to me

Delaryn was a great introduction for a new character, kind of filling the Jarod role again as a reluctant nobody stepping up to command when there was no one else. It worked and resonated really well in the short story.

Honestly wish they had just left her dead.

he’s also called Jared which is a big no-no imo

Together with the people that killed Delaryn’s beloved druid, to whom some of her very last loving thoughts go to!

It’s a recurring theme at this point but at the same time Blizzard’s writing team doesn’t really put in enough thought into their stuff to call it a theme or message

Money printer goes brr with the bare minimum of effort. The joy of creation and pursuing art for art’s sake is not a factor in this system.

Kind of impossible after the warbringer made her a literal Sylvanas expy to demonstrate how beyond saving Sylvanas is in becoming Arthas whom she hated.

Then they can safely ignore undeadlaryn calling Sylvanas out forevermore.

Are humans working in the development team at Blizzard? At this point I doubt it severely.

I said it once, I will said it again: roguelikes are one of the easiest features (or even games) to develop.

You have several floors, you give the player some crazy / wacky stuff they can use and that’s it, have fun.

Look at Risk of Rain or the binding of isaac. Start fairly weak, find items, defeat bosses, get stronger. No drawbacks.

Give people double jump, give fire, give explosions, let people turn into a giant dragon that kills everything… Just… any fun, please?

I enjoyed it at first, now I’d rather sit in broken glass. Forget doing any of this across alts beyond unlocking the covenant stuff.

Obviously? Thanks to a deal with Mark Zuckerberg, Blizzard has been provided with the finest, 100% certified human workers.
