PTR Spoiler/Discussion Thread (Part 1)

I didn’t really expect the cinematic to wrap up the expansion, since there’s a whole other patch for that to come. As far as the Jailer’s motivations go… We’ve seen it before with Wrathion. He wants to unify the cosmos to fight something larger, presumably some extra-universal threat, which to me just seems like too much escalation when that’s not really what we need right now.

When your story is only upping the stakes, eventually you’re gonna run out of places to go. I mean, when they eventually get to this super duper multiversal threat, what then? There’s only so far you can go, so you need to go back to ‘normal’, and not in a “wink wink faction war but actually Old Gods wink wink” way.

From the YT comments: “How does Steve still have his job?”. I’d rarely advocate for someone to lose their job but how many more times does the story lead have to fail before leadership pulls that stick out of their behind?!

We did not know the Scourge basicly had Azerite for the taking and did nothing with it…

Wth. This is getting ridiculous :pensive:

Apparently nobody in the Scourge was smart enough to find out how powerfull Azerite apparently is… And we needed to wait 5 more expansions, several world ending threats, a Legion invasion and what not to find out the Scourge have had Azerite for the taking since Wrath, and nobody bothered to take/use it, not even smarter Scourge members like Arthas, Ner’Zhul, Kel’thuzad, Anub’arak, etc etc (Also if the Forge of Woons was deep enough to get to Azerite, I assume the Nerubians should have a stach of it somewhere else aswell???)

Allwell, guess I’m just happy this expansion is finally over and I can pretend it never happened. Now what’ll bring to the table next month will decide if I resub or not…

Oh no, you see,

Can somebody tell me what ZM has to do with the Shadowlands? I’m really stumped by it?

How do the souls of those who died impact on ZM or are we done with the whole “souls feeding into the Maw” with the ZM storyline?

We were done with that when Korthia dropped afaik.

What? Souls impact on Zereth Mortis?

I haven’t been playing the story since like, the first 2 quests or something of Korthia, whats happening?

I do not think they did. As the Jailer points out, Azeroth is currently wounded and vulnerable. Chances are the soul forges (engines?) only worked this way because of current circumstances.

Well the whole point at the start was that souls were being fed into the Maw.

I don’t get how that intro and ZM relate to each other. Every single expansion, including WoD - we could see where the end was going, one way or another, but this…I just don’t understand it.

So 9.1 was when the souls stopped going to the Maw or did Danuser and his band of fools just forego that story angle?

Don’t take this as 100% fact as I quit for a year after pre-9.1 Maw endgame content crushed my WoW spirit… HOWEVER pretty sure the whole souls going into the Maw thing ended when we beat Denathrius in Nathria? Since he did the whole big show of sending an influx of anima into the Maw?

No, souls kept going into the Maw until we got Pelarbiter.

Its rather telling when I’ve still no f’in clue how events turned out in SL even now in the lead-up to 10.0 announcement.

I might be stupid, but how are our mortal heroes going to get back to Azeroth, now that the veil is closed?

Or are Tyrande, Shandris, the Ebon Blade, Anduin, Sylvanas, Mograine, Baine, Thrall, Jaina, Bolvar, Taelia, Ol’ Emma now forever stuck in Shadowlands(please say yes, please say yes, please say yes)

Clearly they can just take one of the Ebon Blade portals in Oribos. Or one of the Pantheon of Death like Pelarbiter can send them back after thanking them.

That’s…that’s it? Boo, there’s another super secret ultraboss we’ve never heard of to the extent we have no idea wtf he’s talking about, who’s even bigger and scarier than the Jailer who has apparently orchestrated literally everything we’ve faced until now?

I’m so utterly disappointed. I wasn’t expecting much, but I would’ve liked…something. Anything. An answer. Reality is flawed because the cosmos is divided. Okay, that means nothing. Drinking Azeroth’s milkshake solved that how. Why Azeroth and not Argus, or any of the other titans you had under your super epic plan control.

God this cosmos stuff is so stupid. What a waste of an expansion. Screw this, seriously.

Also, the Jailer closing the break between realities is dumb. Like that doesn’t actually make sense. The way was opened by the Helm of Domination breaking. Jailerbot dying fixing it isn’t connected to that in any way.

Ebon Blade gonna deathgate you out.

We’ll charge you for it, but we’ll get you where you need to go.

I’ll pay you two loaves of mouldy bread and a bunch of tasty toadstools to leave Jaina, Thrall, Sylvanas and Baine in Maldraxxus.
