another anuser moment

Without memeing, wasn’t Scourging everyone to have an unstoppable force against the Burning Legion the ultimate goal of the Lich King?

So ultimately this is just another “OLD LORE. BUT BIGGER” Danuser moment.

Even if it’s not and I’m just misremembering, it’s another case of WHOA THERE’S SOMETHING WAAAAY BIGGER BEHIND ME COSMIC LOOOOORE.

And The Dwarves (the book but I think it had a really mediocre game) had this felt less out of left field.

It’s the place where the Jailer went to reboot reality either in preparation for “what is to come” or to prevent “what is to come.” In order to preserve the current universe, he had to be stopped. Also, when all is said and done, a new Arbiter gets crowned and they are able to restore the natural order and ensure that only the worst of the worst get put in the Maw. So that thread does technically get resolved.

With that out of the way…

If he did all of this out of an earnest desire to either prepare for or prevent “what is to come,” as a sympathetic sort of motivation, then they could have conveyed that sooner if they wanted their audience to feel anything about the Jailer. It would have even made sense in the narrative; he would have had a fair easier time winning people over if he actually told them that it was to prepare for or prevent a greater evil.

Also, it completely destroys the ridiculous narrative that the Jailer “just got lucky.” If his ultimate goal was to prepare for or prevent some great calamity that even he is scared of, he would have acted with urgency and actively attempted to enact this plan. He wouldn’t have just sat back and go “hey, that was lucky” when things happened to go his way. The Jailer has been shown to actually care about something and be driven to do something, so the idea that he just took advantage of an opportunity for world domination that fell into his lap is absurd.

So, all that is left is to determine whether the Jailer was preparing for this great evil or trying to prevent it from ever coming to pass.
If he was trying to prepare the universe for it, then the threat is something external to reality - so it can’t be any of the six cosmic forces, such as the Void or the Light. It has to be something completely new and outside of traditional Warcraft cosmology, like the First Ones.
If he was trying to prevent it from ever existing by resetting the universe, then there’s a chance that the story might stay grounded in the Warcraft setting as we know it and he could just be trying to prevent the supremacy of the Light or the Void or some other aspect of the traditional setting.

The best outcome is if they completely ignore the Shadowlands and forget it existed in the next expansion, but that would make this big show of “I only tried to remake the universe in my own image to stop what is to come” seem even more stupid than it already is. There’s just no way of handling this that doesn’t feel dumb, in my eyes.

Can your mortal minds even fathom

It was a pseudo-retcon to add that motivation, but yes, kind of.

Can’t believe they really did the “anime villain flashbacks before death” thing lmao.

The fact Bolvar, Sylvanas, Tyrande or the other Eternal Ones (I know there’s a bulls*** rule that keeps them out of Zereth Mortis but why make such a stupid rule in the first place?) weren’t present in the fight is just beyond pathetic.

Why have compelling interaction between the characters involved in Zovaal’s ‘story’ when we can have flashy action, one-liners and mystery boxes, I guess?

We better prepare to fight the Beyond Ones that he warned us about four expansions from now, where Zovaal will be resurrected and redeemed.

At least the sky’s closed. Now we definitely don’t have to bother about this in our rp anymore.

Don’t jinx it. There’s more Zereths, and they could come to your RP next expansion.

So I got this new anime plot:

There’s this guy called Arthas, and he’s a badguy.

BUT, he’s secretly being manipulated by the BIG badguy Ner’zhul, who’s under the thumb of the even BIGGER badguys of the Burning Legion - who’ve been manipulated all along by the BIGGEST badguy of all, the Jailer!

What happens next?

A transfer student comes in from across the cosmos who’s quite frankly THE MOST MONSTROUS BADGUY OF ALL TIME LITERALLY THE MOST TITANIC VILLAINOUS ENTITY YOU’VE EVER SEEN

STOP POSTING ABOUT SHADOWLANDS

I’M TIRED OF SEEING IT!

Danuser, I know your mantra is; “always a bigger fish”

But we’ve hit the whale shark already.

Stop!

The server consensus is usually that lore events happen IC with the coming of the last LFR wing, so might want to wait for that.

Though considering how eager people might be to put Shadowlands behind them, I won’t blame them for going ahead and RPing the sky as already repaired.

Verrrryyyyy skeptical about 10.0 lore now after these last few cinematics if we don’t find out the story has been outsourced.

At this point, the Chinaman might be more original in the creation of the Wow narrative than their Western counterparts.

MY FRIENDS ON DISCORD SEND ME “NOTHING ESCAPES THE MAW.” MY FRIENDS ON TIKTOK SEND ME “INTERESTING…” I was in a server, right? And all of the channels were just “foolish mortals.” I showed Handsome Squidward to my girlfriend and I-I-I flipped it and I said HEY MORTAL. “DEATH COMES FOR THE SOUL OF YOUR WORLD.”

Also because we all love WoD comparison. Races/classes added by expac:

TBC: Belf+draenei (+made shaman/paladin crossfaction I guess)
Wrath: DK
Cata: Worgen/Goblin
MoP: Pandaren, Monk
WoD: NOTHING. Race visual revamp I guess.
Legion: DH. Allied races (x4) that were palette swaps of existing races.
BfA: Allied races (x4) that were either palette swaps or new models (Zanda/KT).
Shadowlands: Nothing at all.

They did add new customisations I suppose, I’ll give them that much. Maybe I’m a little salty because I didn’t use any on Elly.

I dread of a new class being added after the abomination we know as Demon Hunter.

I am still of the firm opinion that even if you’d delete them now you’d do more good for the game in the long run than damage it in the short tun.
