Keep in mind, “being evil to fight a greater evil” doesn’t eliminate the possibility of “was the unwitting pawn of an even greater evil,” as we’ve seen with both Sargeras and the Lich King. There’s a chance that the Jailer could have only acted this way due to the machinations of another specific minion, who wanted him to perceive something else as the greatest evil of all.
Worst case scenario, 9.2.5 or perhaps even the new expansion will have content dedicated to fleshing out the Jailer’s motivations and making us look like fools for daring to stop him, for clearing the way for the “true” villains to carry out their master plan. After all, that’s another thing that Blizzard loves - refusing to grant us any agency and then calling us fools for going down the path they’ve laid out for us.
I wish Blizzard made it easier for their audience to have faith in them.
Don’t do that. Don’t give them ideas. It’s been done enough, almost as much as x character actually being corrupted to they don’t have to face consequences.

honestly the trope of ‘big bad turns out to have an objectively good goal’ is a bad and cheap trope anyway, especially when it’s revealed right after the big bad is defeated and has no lead-up to it
it doesn’t make the big bad sympathetic, it makes the story devs look incompetent.

show from day 1 and seeing the end cinematic just made me go through several stages of “This can’t be f’ing real gotta be a joke” before realising that it is infact very real and what they’ve done to my previously favorite game.
Good grief, retcon everything post WoD or MoP idgaf which at this point and fire Danuser.

It just pisses me because they couldn’t even stop right there. Zovaal bad, case closed. I suspect him being continuously referenced in the future cosmic plots and them retroactively (again) try to give him a point when really, he deserved none.
Oh wow… Another big bad controlling the Jailer’s action now… How many Puppermasters will there be now?

we’d get a compelling girlboss villain who is actually a grounded character, a complete retcon of the story and a chance to do it all over again (but right this time, surely we’ll do it well now!!), a chance to update the old zones etc

like at least when Wrathion was doing it they were already at war and he was just like “one side needs to win, let’s do that quickly instead of slowly” instead of “let’s deliberately make them fight each other”.
Trying to imagine the alt timeline where Sylvanas gets this info from the Jailer and immediately just tells everyone in like…Cataclysm. “I know this sounds crazy, but, okay, let’s start off with the Shadowlands and the Four Covenants, this is gonna take a while…”
Garrosh is sat on the Warchief throne like “??? can we kill some alliance please” and Sylv banshee screams “NO Garrosh, you need to unite with the Alliance so we can stop reality from suffering entropy!”

Well…
I won’t even say “my expectations were low”, I can’t say I had expectations. And yet, somehow, it still succeeded in disappointing me. No answer, no substance, nothing. There’s just nothing in this.
If someone’s looking for me, I’ll be on GW2 or something.
