To continue the Japanese allegories, Danuser right now must be like me ten minutes into playing as Tokugawa in a game of AoE 3 - that is, racing my single remaining villager around the map in a delusional belief that I’m doing absolutely fine even as the enemy AI curbstomps my town in the background .

Suffice to say I am not very good at AoE 3.

Well let me tell you about Danuser’s response to positive vs. negative feedback… (click the tweet for the pictures)

Oh so it’s like Harry Potter.
There are no bad systems, just bad actors inside those systems.

What I expect from this utter and complete dissapointment of a narrative is persistent voices advocating for the changing of the narrative team. Youtuber making lore their business writing massive video essays explaining how Shadowlands failed, why it failed and why/how they can avoid this in the future.

It’ll the ultimate test for listening to the community. A customer that still complains is worth twice or thrice a positive comment, they can still be convinced to return and they’re usually those most likely to praise you to heavens if they get what they want… Or not, the only thing they did with this :poop: is just cutting a patch, the direction is still the bloody same.

The difference is that you’re actually writing for the players in your campaign, it’s clear that the dev team are writing for themselves which is why they’ve been so disrespectful towards the old of the game. They don’t care about the established setting, they don’t care about the old lore, they don’t seem to even really care about many of the fan favourite characters just so long as they can push their own narrative. Just look at the way they treated Tyrande, Elune and how they handled the final farewell to Arthas. What should have been a poignant moment was instead Sylvanas once again stealing the spotlight to make it all about her because she’s Danusers pet character.

The man self inserts as Nathanos, he openly posts his lurid fantasies about cuckoldry and he ignores all valid criticism. I’m convinced he’s a narcissist. I don’t think anyone here is ‘going on’ about this, most of us here (I’m assuming) have roleplayed for many years so we quite rightly are criticizing what is supposed to be the end of the WC3 narrative. Even during the content drought of WoD I feel like there was more people engaged with the game, we’re at a state where a community that creates their own content has been hurt because the writing of Shadowlands (if not the premise alone based on what I see people saying) has been so bad.

Clearly you don’t understand. We just need to wait and see, like he asks of us so frequently. In time, we will not think so poorly of Shadowland’s conclusion.

Murozond yells: You know not what you have done. Aman’Thul… What I… have… seen…

it’s great how the Jailer died exactly the same way Murozond did
I don’t know what that means
but they certainly did die in exactly the same way

And AFAIK Murozond is technically still yet to happen in the current time-line? Maybe we’ll get to see what drove him so mad.

Don’t diss my big pet lizard Nozzy by comparing his evil version to the Jailer.

You know what? Just stop comparing the jailer to any dungeon/raid/WQ boss before him, you only end up dissing them by draaiing comparison💀

I’m pretty sure it was a combination of:

  • Being able to see his death coming and being unable to stop it (though why that matters when you just go to a cool afterlife idk)
  • Whispers of the Old Gods (but they’re all dead now so I guess not really a problem anymore)

I feel worse than Vader in his armor or in the fluid water whenever he needed repairs.

Maaaann killing N’zoth before he could corrupt Murozond is actually a big deal now that I think of it. Another bit of wasted potential which could have filled out a whole patch by working with the Bronze flight vs Infinites during the dragon expac.

It’s okay, AU N’zoth from another timeline can just corrupt him. Problem solved

N’zoth creating Murozond could’ve been an awesome patch to add the Dragon Isles had they made BFA a proper South Sea’s expansion: could’ve added the Naga as an upcoming threat for a future expansion aswell.

So much wasted potential, it just hurts😔

I quick dip into the Wow Reddit shows how overwhelmingly detested this expansion storyline is.

If I were to compare the reaction of players, it would be that of seeing the current team as those vampiric eels, deeply rooting their teeth into the old but somewhat healthy fish that is Wow. There are two kind of those eels though. Ones that cling onto the fish and drain the blood slowly (BfA) and those who in a frenzy devour their prey to the point of breaking flesh tissues and bones (Shadowlands).
