PTR Spoiler/Discussion Thread (Part 2)

If they can keep this level of breathing life back into the World going… I might even re-sub

Day of the Dragon and Netherwing ownage are two different things. The second event happens in a comic that´s taking place after TBC. Tyrygosa brings some Nether drakes from Outland because she thinks they could help Malygos. Something something happens, he drains them of their magic and regains his sanity somehow (never read the comic tbh). Then he takes one good look at the mortals and their use of Arcane and chooses violence.

What the hell. I’m actually positively surprised.

I guess our own kosh’harg events can be treated as small gatherings of traditionalists rather than this big formal revival.

So this won’t be available for Mag’har Orcs. Cool!!

So apparently the Tauren Totem weapon is available for Highmountain and Kalimdor Tauren.

Which is a nice addition

Night elves: “Wait, you could do that?”

Seriously though, sounds great!

in addition to this as well as familiar NPC’s appearing, the Trial of the Ancestor’s calls on the spirits of various Orc’s from the main universe rather than any from the alternate. Though how that bleeds together in the Shadowlands is any guess…

The main notables though are: Varok Saurfang, Durotan, Draka (Yes in her Maldraxxi drip), Grommash Hellscream, Broxigar the Red and Orgrim Doomhammer. With each one having their own piece to say regarding some topic or another.

Saurfang has messages he wishes passed on to various individuals present such as Thrall and Eitrigg as well as a feeling of relief for what the horde may yet become.

Durotan taking pride in his son and feeling honoured at finally seeing the land named after him.

Grommash having mixed feelings about how often his name was invoked in the Orc’s acts of heroism, though achknowledging each orc must seek their glory in their own way. As well as lamenting the path Garrosh took and hoping it would serve as a warning to the more ambitious.

Draka seemingly just glad her son’s found his place.

Broxigar seeing kinship with the actions of the Player Character’s.

And Orgrim seeming glad that Thrall is wearing his armour once again, knowing his difficulty at balancing the warrior and the shaman within himself but hoping he finally can now.

I like that the quest has you venerate the ancestors not through combat, but through preparing a meal. Sounds like a nice change of pace.

I imagine ghost Grommash just making a disappointed scrunched up kermit the frog face the entire time. After a lifetime of frelling up he corrected his mistakes.

Then the horde just kept repeating his mistakes.

The ancient defenders of Kalimdor never truly knew the land they claimed to watch over. It took the humble, down to earth sensibilities of the orcs to show the elves how to truly heal the continent.

My only complaint about the orc heritage quest is the inclusion of Saurfang talking about honour.

For better or worse he abandoned the concept by the end of BfA. Had a whole cinematic about how it was fake. They coulda had him talk about something else, if they wanted to show him again.

Him showing up does mean that Sylvanas already freed him from the Maw though. Bet that was a fun conversation.

nah she had his soul in her pocket. its why one of her drops was “Soul of the old Soldier” or something. just a little pocket soul she released

Clearly they were just deforesting Ashenvale because the trees were interfering with their attempts at communicating with the Elements.

It does give me hope for NElf/Forsaken, Troll/Draenei heritage questline’s, though.

A small hope they keep this level of writing up.

I thought I was being insane for thinking that as well but there’s clearly more efforts, time and polish place onto those compared to a lot of previous HA Quests.

Vulpera :handshake: humans

having race-specific quests about workers being abandoned and mistreated by their faction and then doing nothing with that.

Completed the human heritage questline now.

Highlights:

  • Anduin spent his reign cracking down on the corruption in the House of Nobles like Varian before him.
  • Varian’s death took some of the fight out of Defias, because they felt the greatest source of their ire was dead, and they weren’t sure yet how Anduin would turn out as a king.
  • Anduin made reparations to the Stonemasons, offering pardons, and ensured funding was set aside to help rebuild Westfall.
  • Anduin’s policy made most of the idealists in the Defias accept the pardon and hang up the red handkerchiefs. This left only those who joined Defias as an excuse to be bandits for banditry’s sake.
  • Count Clessington was one of Onyxia’s sycophants whose house prospered under Onyxia’s corruption. Anduin cracking down on the corruption in the House of Nobles meant House Clessington’s influence waned.
  • Count Clessington stole Onyxia’s Drakefire Amulet and used it to subdue the remaining Defias to his cause: take down Stormwind. The amulet doesn’t directly mind control as much as it wears down your inhibitions and makes you open for suggestion and violence.
  • Clessington and the Defias marched on Northshire and used the Drakefire Amulet to make the abbey descend into chaos. Clessington recruits prospective Adventurers to his cause, but you beat them into submission.
  • Clessington is slain and Vanessa VanCleef tries to steal the amulet to use it against Stormwind as Onyxia’s whispers get to her.
  • The amulet is destroyed and the shade of Onyxia is purged, ending her influence in Stormwind’s politics once and for all.
  • Vanessa decides to ditch her father’s name because the Defias is done. Those who stood for its ideals were satisfied with Anduin’s policies, and the remnants are just bandits wearing the name as an excuse to be brutal.
  • Vanessa takes on the name of Hope Saldean and returns to Westfall to defend and feed the poor. Count Clessington’s daughter joins her, giving up her own father’s legacy in unison with Vanessa.
  • Player Character joins the Lionguard. The Lionguard is an order of the realm’s greatest heroes and personal honour guard of the King. Being anointed a Lionguard grants you the title of ‘the Lion of Stormwind’ in lore after Anduin Lothar, though the OOC title is just ‘Lionguard’.

So the most important part is that Anduin inherited Varian’s hatred of the House of Nobles, and he pushed through policy cracking down on their influence and curbing their corruption. He made reparations and granted pardons to the Stonemasons and made sure that Westfall receives the funding to rebuild, satisfying the grudge of the Stonemasons Guild after all these years. Defias is officially disbanded by Vanessa, but there are always remnants who wear the red bandana as an excuse to be bandits for the sake of being bandits.

Gnome was okayish. Decently fun to play but the story was nothing new/just retreading Thermaplugg and Gnomeregan.

The armour was cool, but it was a crime that the gnomish airplane was wasted on a flight-whistle upgrade(THAT IS NOT ACCOUNT-WIDE/UNLOCKED) and only has use in Legion and BfA, and only if you use whistles instead of normal flying.
