What is this, Avengers Endgame?

Fyrakk’s right behind me, isn’t he?

Axe hits Fyrakk’s.

WELL THAT JUST HAPPENED!

oh no, fyrakk got infected by the CUBE

Also like I know this is repeating the same complaints since the start of the expansion but why did Alex and Fyrakk turn into their visage forms
they’re dragons
they’re not humanoids
If they’re in danger, their first instinct should be to be the giant lizard that breathes fire and can crush puny humans with a single swipe of their claws.

Also yeah the faction leaders showing up is entirely unearned and frankly a misstep. At least Baine and Mayla were already on the island for other reasons, but Velen? Moira? Gelbin? Oh they could show up to this but not the Shadowlands?? I see how it is.

Fyrakk clearly didn’t take lessons from Patrick Bateman with that axe.
Unfortunately he instead took dojo lessons from Steve Danuser.

Exactly!

Why does Alexstrasza being injured in her dragon form turn her into her visage form? It makes it look like the visage form is the baseline and the dragon form is a powerup or something.

They’re frigging DRAGONS, make them act accordingly!

Cubemourne strikes again!

I miss Alexstrasza who went 1v1 on Deathwing himself and only -barely- lost :frowning:

Yeah, I know that I haven’t played Dragonflight at all so it’s entirely possible I just missed something, but…

… what are they all doing there lol+lmao? This just kinda feels random and out of the blue, especially for Fyrakk who continues to feel like a mid-expansion boss to me.

Because it is.

I have a feeling he was meant to be, and we were supposed to get 10.3 with Iridikron and maybe Galakrond, but the plans changed.

My Champion of Azeroth’s reaction to Fyrakk would be “I stomp on wannabe villains like you on my way to real problems”.

Hyping up a villain gathering power and means to tear a portal into the dream for two patches only for them to write the entire main cast using arcane magic to mass-teleport into the Emerald Dream within a few quests of the supposed final confrontation’s patch.

It really does feel like the writing team is turning the gas on and lighting a few candles on their way out, doesn’t it?

It definitely drops Fyrakk’s danger level if suddenly it’s not just the dragons and whatever ‘champions’ the expedition has on hand but instead the full martialled mass teleported might of the Alliance and Horde, all eager to stand shoulder to shoulder as they deploy their strongest warriors.

May as well send the raiders home. Jaina’s got this  Just have her pull her stupid flying ship out again or something.

I can’t believe these writers actually opened the biggest warning-signed can of worms in any sort of storytelling.

Showing these characters doing things is good yes, but these are world leaders and on average, generally very powerful people. If they were always just on Alexstrasza’s hotline like this then like. . .why haven’t we been making use of the Horde and Alliance armies and their leaders this entire time? Why didn’t we just call in everybody against Razsageth and save ourselves from this entire expansion and the consequences it will now have?

Why haven’t we been using these two factions who have militaries and resources ALL OVER AZEROTH to simultaneously hunt down Iridikron and follow him from afar? This is the oldest can of worms in storytelling, it has 1000 warning signs all over it and yet they just walked right into it like a neon glowing brick wall. I-

The kicker is if you wanted this moment of “not standing alone” you could’ve had it.

Baine, Mayla, and the Centaur.
Kalec, Khadgar, and the Tuskarr.
The red dragon majordomo vulpera and the drakonid ‘rebels’.
Wrathion, the Blacktalons, and the dracthyr.
Sabellian, Ebyssian, and the black dragonflight.
Chromie, the Timewalkers, and that one Infinite I forget the name of.

I assume the exclusion of the Greens and NElves from the cinematic was deliberate because they’re elsewhere or whatever, but they could be there too.
Ditto for Vyranoth and a proto True Dragon or three as well.

If you wanted to, and you shouldn’t, you could even have the Niffen show up.

You can have your Avengers Assemble moment for this expansion just from characters actually involved with it. It might even be kinda cathartic payoff to do so.

Nevermind, I guess.

The entire Greens and Night Elf army and Wild Gods are all present as well, theyre just off-camera/in the background blurry but you can see them all fighting after the cinematic as well. Including Malorne.

“So, what are your ideas to make the story better?”

Chris Metzen: I think we need to make a three-expansion long saga with unified storytelling to set things in the right path and settle a few loose ends, as well as tell an interesting story that doesn’t end as fast as it began.

…oh.

Yeah give Jaina a centre stage focus shot for magic casting and not Tyrande or Merithra or Ysera.

Blizzard, please

That’s something I’ll be pointing out in the Warcraft Retrospective, too. When you bend the world to make the story happen, in the name of all that is holy, don’t draw attention to the bending.

It would be like Batman putting the Joker, the Penguin, the Riddler and all of Gotham’s other criminal masterminds behind bars all by himself, through blood and sweat and tears and ingenious plans, and then in the next story arc, suddenly the entire Justice League, with Superman and Green Lantern and company, flies to Gotham from all over Earth to help Batman against some lame third-rate Joker knockoff.

Old Fyrakk was flyin’ around,
Amirdrassil like a big playground.
When suddenly Lilian Voss burst from the shade,
and hit Fyrakk with a blight grenade.
Fyrakk got pissed and began to attack,
but didn’t expect to be blocked by Lor’themar,
who proceeded to open a can of Quel-fu,
when Khadgar came out of the blue,
and he started beating up Lor’themar Theron,
then they both got flattened by the Jainamobile,
but before she could make it back to Boralus,
Baine Bloodhoof popped out of his grave,
and took his totem from under his hat,
and blew Jaina away with a clack-clack-clack,
but he ran out of strength and ran away,
because Gelbin Mekkatorque came to save the day.

This is the ultimate showdown, of the Emerald Dream!
Good guys, bad characters and explosions, as far as the eye can see!
And only one will survive, I wonder who it will be?
This is the ultimate showdown, of hopefully a former writing team.
