She has this modern troubled teenager look. Almost makes me feel she was redesigned this way to cater to that group.
Also, the fact we get neutral Dwarves feels like a cop-out reason for Blizzard to say ‘Hey, we do have a Horde storyline/content!’ but then just really mean the things revolving Dwarves.
Earthen should’ve been (Dark Iron) Dwarf skin options anyways.
Give (Zandalari) Trolls the Dark Troll-skin option and add them as the subterreanian race for the Horde.
2 “new” races(A: Half-Elf & Earthen H: Half-Elf & Dark Trolls) added per faction and different storylines depending on your faction, which would culminate in the Arathi, Earthen and Dark Trolls banding together to defeat the Nerubians and having peace return to their lands.
It very much gives off a vibe of someone’s 13-year old edgy Tumblr OC. Ravenia the Raveness, Black Countess of Slaughtersville type vibe. Really wish they would’ve just kept Alleria to her bog standard High Elven Ranger roots instead of morphing her into a completely different character for the sake of expectation subversions but here we are.
Introducing a cool leader character with an intriguing backstory and immediately killing them off is just how nu-Blizzard writers operate. Something something subverting expectations, from people who thought GoT season 8 was brilliant writing.
We saw it with AU Velen in WoD, Xe’ra in Legion, Rastakhan in BfA, and Krexus in Shadowlands.
As a nice bonus, it saves the writers the tedium of actually fleshing out the characters.
I can’t wait for us to ally with the Nerubian queen as she has second thoughts about this whole void thing and sides with us against Xalathath. Or maybe they both do, who knows, the one thing wow can still consistently surprise me with is how far the writers will go to redeem a character.
Eh, not entirely. Uther as a character wasn’t fleshed out until warcraft 3 and promptly died in the next campaign we met him. We briefly saw him again in Slands but that was it.
Illidan similarly didn’t overstay his welcome I feel. We saw him in WC 3 and Frozen Throne and finally TBC, then Legion one more time, and now its unlikely we’ll see him again very soon.
Jaina, Anduin and Thrall in the meantime, two of those have been around since WC3 aswell, and the other one since Vanilla, though its mostly been from BfA that we’ve been constantly seeing them in every adventure.
Holly does give me more confidence that WoW is in a better place than it was.
I realise that’s not a high bar to set, however having someone talk so… human-ly about stuff?
Positive, imo.
On one hand, she’s the person who decides which direction the game should go in. War Within is going to be the first expansion that she will have overseen from start of development to the finishing line, so the buck will stop with her.
Ion and Metzen and the others might manage their own areas of expertise but ultimately, she’s the decision maker and I think that the game’s gone in the right direction since she got the executive producer position, what with all of the road maps and the eight-week patch cycle and Season of Discovery and the Plunderstorm/Remix experiments and the Worldsoul Saga too.
It’s an exploratory and honestly kind of chaotic time for WoW, which I find refreshing, especially since 2016-2022 was such an iterative period (outside of Classic) and we’ve got Longdale to thank for that.
