I have been waiting for this for a very, very long time.
I can’t adequately describe how glad I am for most of this being the case. Draenei and mag’har warlocks though?
My suspension of disbelief can only go so far.
YAAASSSSSSSSS nelf warlocks!!!
They really should just give all classes to all races and some surface level lore to go with it, like what they did with the Lok’osh.
Dracthyr and Warlocks eating well tonight
We had those since WoD.
The entire point of warlocks is that they are usually from society’s dregs and outcasts, with the potential exception of Belves and Forsaken, meaning whatever norm you have in a culture doesn’t matter as warlocks are outliers, as well as the fact player characters are not representative of the populace, rather they are exceptions. A tauren warlock would and should have the exact same stigma as an orc, dwarf or human warlock as none of them are pro-demon magic.
Now with that said I maintain the position that Lightforged Draenei are farfetched and are in the same domain as LF Shadow Priests and Night Elf Dark Rangers being Alliance. If we get some NPC or ingame lore blurb of some hooded LF Draenei lurking in the new questline then I’ll concede that it can exist in canon lore.
Lastly this isn’t probably some new cultural shift that Fel is treated less of a corrupting, devious and destructive source of power. I see it more as an evolution of the principal idea I described in the first paragraph: Being a warlock is not a cornerstone of any culture of the playable factions, they are primarily the outcasts and potentially the antithesis of the religion or views of their origin race. You can have Tauren, Draenei, Pandaren, Zandalari and Kul Tiran warlocks and they are essentially the same as the races that currently have the class available.
Either way, bring it! Let’s have those Red Eredar options for Draenei and the metric ton of Demon appearances that are already in-game so we can customize our pets to the same extent Hunters can.
why are they giving warlocks so much candy to eat, wasn’t green fire enough
since they’re making nelf warlocks a thing, let’s make nelf paladins a thing as well and keeping it in vein with how warlocks are being treated, let’s give paladins a customization on how their light looks like
so we can finally get some elune paladins thanks bye
Both can be shadow priests already, both have been shown to wield shadow / void in the lore. Warlocks are not fel alone, shadow / void is a big part of it.
There, suspension of disbelief restored.
And Lightforged reaction for fel and shadow alike can only be described as burning it in holy fire. At least as long as it’s not high exarch’s wife that does it.
Which I consider almost just as ridiculous where the LF are concerned.
I consider Zandalari warlocks an overdue win, I’ll give Blizzard that.
makes me happy!
I hope they’ll get Undead pet customisations, tho… And that it will extend to Hunters, Frost Mages and (Unholy) Death Knights eventually!
Really should be added for all Warlocks, including NElf. But NElf Warlocks could be explained with the Shen’dralar using to have Warlocks in their ranks + they sucked from Immol’thar and become Fel-addicted at some point, so NElf’s having Warlocks isn’t that farfetched(and if you want another explaination; there used to be a Highborne Warlock in a Tower in Darkshore aswell). But still I think they should get little lore blurbs akin to Orc Priests, Draenei Rogues, etc! (also counts for Alliance Dark Rangers)
Also… Zandalari Demoniacs, finally!
I hope we’ll get them aswell!
I wouldn’t mind undead pet options.
Always wanted to play a necrognome.
But as close second, those small gan’arg engineers from TBC that got entirelly replaced by wyrmkin in Legion would be sweet af.
Fel tech + gnome tech = superior tech.
No it wasn’t, what they should do is give more classes more candy to eat, not not give warlocks less candy.
Game mechanics, we’ll have to settle for that until Blizzard decides do something about it between tomorrow and the end of time.
Everyone being Warlock including LFD is silly.
At this point make everyone every class Blizzard why stop there? The diluation is already on present no point with half measures.
While I get that people do not like it, but I am assuming Blizzard is working to all classes for all races, but they might just change how they’re going to approach it;
Adding only Warlocks this patch will give them the time to add little lore blurbs, that will make sense sort of, to them all.
Just to make sure something like Brother Lighttusk etc will not happen again!
(I hope so)
Lol u hater XD dont u know watering down class restrictions is good for lore???
Sarcasm aside, 3rd spec won’t change anything. Abomination race and class.
It used to be a bigger event when classes were being extended. Now it’s just a two paragraph on “Oh yeah we can now do this and that. Hey you one of my class hehe, you go on your way now.”
It’s the most extreme form of gameplay first. I ain’t against it but work for it please. Warlocks aren’t even the more lore demanding class to justify as anyone can be one but not everyone should like the Lightforged alongside being antithetical to their Crusade against the Legion.
As I mentioned also in that same post the majority of warlocks don’t come to be because some institution was made official and they could start training and gathering recruits. You get warlocks from exiles and outcasts doing their thing or relatively secretive covens operating on the fringes of society.
As a result a night elf, KT, Tauren, Draenei, Mag’har and Zandalari warlock don’t even need a precedent necessarily. We have instances of almost every race getting their members Fel-corrupted and every single race have their layer of outcasts that warlocks can originate from.
I think it’s now safe to conclude that Lightforged doesn’t really exist as a playable class. They’re just draenei with some extra jewelry.
