This weekend, we’re going to run a second test with a few modifications. Feedback indicated that the damage reduction was a little too strong, and was a little too strong.
Starting tomorrow, May 3 at 19:00 CEST, we’ll enable an aura that does the following in PvP combat between players (and player-controlled pets and other units):
20% damage reduction from all Physical damage done by players or player pets.
30% damage reduction from all Magical damage done by players or player pets.
For 10 seconds after being damaged by another player or player’s pet, the damaged player receives 20% less healing.
This would be multiplicatively cumulative with Mortal Strike, meaning a character with both effects would take 60% reduced healing (0.5*0.8=0.4=40% healing received or 60% prevented).
We’re also fixing some interaction issues with self-damage effects (Seal of Martyrdom, Hellfire, Shadow Word: Death), and Chaos Bolt will again lose its benefit where Fire spells ignore absorb effects.
Again, we’ll enable the aura on all Season of Discovery realms on Friday, May 3 at approximately 19:00 CEST, and it will be disabled four days later, during scheduled weekly maintenance in each region.
We are literally part of an extended version of Classic WoW with lots of experiments for a future version of Classic. I wholeheartedly welcome this PvP testing! Thank you, Blizzard! The full damage we are taking right now in “PvP” is brutal and leaves one more likely to hide in a capital city than go into the world to farm XYZ item(s) due to the damage difference between classes farming the same thing : )
That timed heal, when we know the SP problem, will benefit them even more if you have to wait 10s AFTER the last tick of your dots to regen efficiently, ofc if they are not refreshed in between
Once again we pay for a game that hardly worth playing.
PVP for alliance is a joke - its clear the decs do not give a S*** about their loyal players and cba to spend some time balancing things so it feels like you can actually win if you commit yourself rather than join the Horde who are OP in PVP and can win without gear they are so broken.
Im sure plenty of horde will hop on and say no but easy to say when you know you are guaranteed a 95% win rate in any pvp.

Oh boy not again. time to go to cata rather than play a game that gets blanket nerfs over class specific fixes, which WILL change the meta rather than just repeating what happened pre-damage nerfs and last damage nerfs.
This pile of s… isn’t gonna change how bad the balance is:
Rogues gonna take a dump on people and do toomuch damage while having CC/Mobility on DEMAND.
SP, 2 dots, Dispersion and SWD enough to clown on most people.
Shamans, how is this overtuned garbage not nerfed into oblivion yet.
Balance druids, good self heal, good damage, Blizz???
Mages selfhealing for more than half their HP per cast is unironically bad.
Locks foolery with SLSL, FG, Haunt, Meta needs to be readjusted.
Even cockroaches would do a better job at balancing than whatever this is.
i have another idea blizzard. Nerf base rune damage/healing by 75% and add more scaling on those abilities.
You guys are playing with a great and popular game your parents/aunties created while ago, at least respect the classic essence. This is pure garbage of a bunch of neckbeards and girls with undefined gender testing with 0 clue of wtf they’re changing. This is like giving the power to retail game balance designer on a classic server

omg, people will be running away to lose debuffs/gain debuffs e.t.c it will be a mess and create too much algorithm tangling in a pvp scenario, absolute insanity
Stop this nonsense with these tests, you are wasting our time. Complicated systems likes these does not fit in wow classic. You will make the game even more problematic and some playstyles will became again broken.
The vast majority of pvpers enjoy fast paced combat with fast reactions, most of us will stop playing pvp for these weekend and then when the test is finished not all of us will come back
Those who find and abuse the broken specs from this complicated system this weekend, will stop playing and start complaining when you remove it.
Stop digging your own grave, remove every hidden buff or nerf and do some real class balancing.

is that what you call pvp ? don’t bs me about classic pvp, i played p1 to p6 got HWL and ended up on 132k hk’s, those op runes weren’t in classic and we weren’t 1 shotting each other (until maybe naxx phase where mages played pom pyro)
so these changes are actually welcomed and once again, if you think that pvp is all about who presses 3 buttons faster then go play some wild west fastest drawer in the west FPS game, heard lucky luke is a great one
Give us at least a week notice before we test stuff like that. I know you want people to cheat pvp ranks in STV but you have players who actually like BGs and classic pvp. We want to rank in BG with a given frame. Not premades one shooting / aoe each others at rez points in the jungle for coins.
The level of amateurism is astonishing.
There is way too many: “hey guys your class / the game is X. Tomorrow it’s Y. Cheers”. Give at least 1 or 2 weeks notice next time you want us to test something so drastic.
Gotta settle for a flat reduction that works, this just makes things so janky. Locks for instance if you use drain life 1 second too early you snapshot a -20% healing reduction
And in general you have a fight the warrior might thing wow this is going great but 10 secs later the enemy all of a sudden doesn’t die anymore…. Which is usually the time they finally have some rage
Some classes could also trick the system by forcing the timer asap with range/pets etc. Like any thorns effect actually needs to be turned off……
And the ressing on AB flags, the ressing team opens with -20 heal reduction bit the attackers don’t?
This is simply a bad idea I don’t see this working hidden timers just makes for very unexplainable situations and experience

Yeah mages have no blinks and iceblock, they just staying in frontline and waiting for chimera to hit, and looks like you have only 1.5k hp which is not true I suppose.
The global damage reductions and healing reductions does not help you, because if you will not be magically oneshotted by chimera, you gonna be killed by 2 chimeras, and in the same time you gonna need more damage in return to kill this hunter or somebody else. So how’s it helps you? If you are too slow to react on battlefield and you playing with a retаrded team so you need more time to make same damage - it’s not our problem. Some classes have bursts, some classes have even damage, some classes can heal themselves, some are not, some have defensives, some are not, the global damage/heal manipulation ruins the balance between different classes, because if you can’t burst anymore - you are useless and this is your class mechanic, if rogue can’t kill from stealth - why would we need rogues? if hunter can’t kill - why do we need hunters? to feed the pets? the same percentage of reduction does not mean the same output for class.
Can someone explain something to me. Instead of applying a dmg reduction and a strange healing reduction. Why not just give us more health? Mathemathically that would be exactly the same thing.
One issue is that anything they do is % based. Classes that already have high stamina get boosted way more than the classes that struggle to even break 2k hp.
For that reason they should also revert the HP boost in pvp, it doesn’t even apply in world PVP anyway while this pvp reduction does. Can’t do proper testing if this HP boost bandaid is still in place.
