World of Warcraft is completely unique in the sea of MMORPGs.
In PvP specifically, this game has an incredible amount of depth, an endless learning curve that allows you to constantly improve and get better. Watching yourself grow and starting to outplay other players is an extremely satisfying feeling, that few other games can replicate.
I would like you to watch literally 3 seconds of this clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N65LuZsxcjo&t=185s
In 3 seconds, here’s what happens:
Priest fears DK
Priest expects DK to break Fear with Lichborne, so he pre-casts Shackle Undead because Lichborne gives players the “Undead” status for its duration
DK does use Lichborne to break out of fear
DK notices that the Priest is casting Shackle Undead, and manually removes Lichborne from himself
This is an extremely niche interaction, and yet both players made great decision making with impressive reaction time in such a small window of time. Similar situations can occur with Druids and Hunters’ “Scare beast”.
No other game provides this kind of depth. In every encounter, there is always something you could have done differently, something you could have done better, to exploit the full potential of your vast toolkit.
Later in the duel, this happens: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N65LuZsxcjo&t=222s
Thanks to pure instinct and experience, this Priests anticipate the DK’s grip and uses Greater fade at the exact same time, completely negating the Grip. The timing is perfect, and so is this outplay.
PvP in World of Warcraft is amazing and unique. And yet, it’s not that popular with the playerbase.
Which is why I’m asking you: why don’t you play PvP?
Well, People do PvE, Pet Battles, Mog Collecting etc…
it all goes down to what they prefer. Some like PvP, such as yourself, but others do not share the same opinion. i myself play PVP from time to time as i prefer PvE, but i do have some fun when i do a BG or Arena
Balance is irrelevant. As long as there are multiple classes and archetypes, perfect balance can never be reached, in any game.
Even in StarCraft II after all this time, there are still balance complaints.
What’s the issue with arena? It’s the best game mode.
Diminishing returns exist, trinkets exist, and most classes have tools to use while stunned.
As a Hunter, you have Roar of Sacrifice, and you can pre-wall.
But in any case, they’re nerfing all CC by 1-2 seconds each in the next patch, so this issue is being addressed by Blizzard.
Nice transmog by the way.
I partake in pvp just to get some transmogs and toys, mounts, pets. I don’t particulary enjoy it. It’s kind of how when you have to go to the dentist you just want to get it done and over with.
I can get behind this logic but that doesn’t change the fact that you have more accumulated honor and achievements than I do, when I’m literally just spamming arenas 24/7 whenever I log in.
This is a casual chore for you, whereas this is my main activity, and yet you’ve still participated more in PvP than I did.
Either you have a lot of free time, or…Could it be possibly be that…You actually enjoy PvP?
FPS games are supremely uninteresting to me because, no matter how good you are, if some guy just spots you first and gets a headshot, there’s literally nothing you can do.
I mean, I would never play Fortnite, but it does look more appealing since you can survive multiple shots and therefore react to agression and eventually come out on top.
You are talking about deathmatch/free for all/battle royal type modes. CS:GO is a tactical shooter where positional awareness is a fundamental pillar of the game, and poor positional play is a big indicator of a novice player.
Why do you think we are still here, I have 20 different reasons to hate this company unfortunately there is no better pvp in other games.
Smooth interactions between abilities some macros to provide even more control. For example people try to cast when I start Bladestorm but I have cancel macro, I can just stop it right away to Pummel. In other games I don’t think there is such an option.
Also alot of people play PvP. It is just different areas.
World PvP enjoyers
Random BG enjoyers
Rated BG enjoyers
Skirmish Enjoyers
Rated 2v2 and 3v3 Enjoyers
Soloshuffle Enjoyers
Twink Enjoyers
It also requires knowledge about all other classes, for example I was random bg player until BfA, I was a good player but with world quest items. I stepped into arena, could reach 1800 as Fury Void Elf Warrior. I realized I wasn’t as good as I thought, buy race change to Human for min-max, install addons for better awareness etc etc. as a result I am able to compete against awc players.
I am happy with my progress and glad that I’m a PvP player despite being good at PvE as well I have zero interest in dungeons and raids. Our community also feels like more fun compared to PvE community.
That guy said it during 2009 or something because they were not able to seperately tune classes as they can right now.
Mortal Strike will deal 33% less damage (PvP Only, does not apply to PvE)
This is how they tune now, so that they can balance a class seperately for 2 different areas.
If it weren’t for that mistake there would be far less players in this game currently. I wouldn’t be here for sure and many others.
its not. There’s no gear progression. All time invested characters feels fresh lvl 70 because bis gear can be farmed in less than 1 day with no rating/challenges/tasks required.
Of course people dont play pvp anymore. There’s no point in farming that honor or hitting that rating. Achievments are not enough to make people play.
but this is a mmorpg game. Not counter-strike. So your point is invalid. Gear progression should better as long as they marketing the game as a mmoRPG game.
nobody cares about that. Can’t you see people dont pvp anymore? why do you think is that?
All my PvP guild mates and friends quit between Legion because of the dumbing down of class design caused by the ability pruning.
The few who endured quit in BFA, myself included, precisely because it required us to grind gear before we could compete in arena.
Meanwhile, I and countless others returned in Dragonflight because it reintroduced WoD’s approach to PvP gearing. Coupled with solo shuffle to skip the LFG horror, PvP is actually in the best state it’s been in years.
Your opinion on PvP gearing is also unpopular, as demonstrated by the fact that this forum contributor got ratio’d by the first guy to reply:
