PvP Rewards and Item Levels

will never happen. IMO they give us same ilvl gear as raiders buuuut its timegated behind stu pi d cap of 550 per week…
If they rise the cap, i think theyll nerf the gear. They don’t care for PvP’rs it seems. Once again they prove a point that has been made over and over and over again the last 4 years.

Can you please confirm there is no bonus to Conquest cap for players with higher rating?
Does it truly take 4 months to get full conguest gear?

yes 10 chaars

htt_ps://www.wowhead.com/news=319737/5-000-conquest-requirement-to-buy-pvp-weapons-will-be-removed

At least weapons are gonna be addressed, that’s something.

I think the conquest cap could be a little bit higher like 650-750 but considering pvp is the only one of the 3 endgame gearing sources with non rng upgrades. I can see why they wouldnt want it to be any higher.

Raiders on average get about 1.4, 226/233 ilvl pieces per raid because of the sl gear nerfs which could be a piece they dont even need.
M+ players only get 210 out of end of dungeon rewards.

Cant bg players still gear through RBGs?

Oh wow… it’s going to take 10 weeks to unlock conquest weapons.

That’s rediculous.

This taps into the idea of why I want the 2 modes’ gearing to not be conjoined in the manner that they are and why I’d like resilience or something like that.

Because they are fundamentally different, and the inequity of an RNG system is poison to a PvP game, imo.

A lot of them, from my experience, like the “pick up and play” kinda thing, and rated PvP can also be pretty gatekeep-y.

But like, I think success in rated should have rewards linked to it. More conquest per win (would also offset the higher ques at higher ratings), next week’s cap dictated by highest rating obtained, cosmetic stuff.
I just think it’s a little more restrictive than it has to be.

skill > gear anyway

I don’t think a cap increased by rating would be helpful.

If you start early and get to a higher rating, then players of equal skill who started lated will not only have to bridge the gap in ilvl of current gear, but they will also have a harder time increasing their gap and gearing up to challenge the ones at high ratings.

However, with some paper towel math, it takes 3 weeks to get 2 items from pvp, on average, excluding the weekly chest.

In raids, there’s 3 pieces of loot per boss per 20 players. 10 bosses, 30 pieces total for 20 players, so around 1.5 pieces per week. 4.5 pieces in two weeks, on average, which is over twice the rate for PvP, again excluding the great vault,

This is before you factor in that there are 2 difficulty levels that matter, even 3 if you count normal 207 gear, each with their own chance.

The gap grows larger when you consider the price of the PvP weapons as well.

True, in raids you can get duplicates, but so can your fellow raidmates, so the gear is not necessarily lost.

I do believe there should be parity in the rate of acquisition, preferably by lowering the price of the PvP pieces. The cap is likely fine, but we don’t have the point rewards confirmed yet, so it may be that it is too high or too low depending on how much actual playtime / week it takes to get there.

Sum total of the change:

Getting full conquest via rated PVP is going to take ~8-10 weeks. The complaints about needing 21 weeks of 550 conquest each are misleading - that’s only half of your gear, the other half comes from the vault, and yes, getting upgrades from 3 item choices is quite reliable even if you already filled most of the slots (do the math).

Gearing via M+ will still be noticeably faster than 8-10 weeks, however. Getting to M+14 will perhaps be more difficult than before, but that’s just time + gear, you will still be getting upgrades from end of dungeon gear (at least 1 drop, 1 additional drop if you timed).

Initial / mid-level gearing will absolutely be better in M+, much easier and much faster, no question about it. With conquest catch up rolling on, you are perhaps better off even ignoring PVP until week 4-6, then you can climb ratings and quickly fill remaining pieces with conquest + honor upgrades, then concentrate on replacing PVE pieces with PVP.

In general, I don’t think I like what I am seeing. Having M+ be the obvious choice for PVP gearing is quite bad. They did improve PVP gearing a lot for rated PVP (screwed it up for unrated PVP making it worse than even in BFA, but that’s a different story), but for all the improvements, PVP gearing still simply loses to M+ point blank.

I think the only real solution would be to add a boost to all PVP gear in PVP scenarios, similarly to WoD. Eg, boost honor gear in battlegrounds / arenas to 220, boost conquest gear to 226. I guess we will have to wait until season 2 to see anything like that though.

This is decent. I believe it’s not exactly how I WANT IT but it’s probably better for the long term. We also have the item in vault so that’s a good thing. It really feels like 1 step forward 2 steps backwards but it’s probably for the better.

10 chars … …

So… you pretty much time gated PVP until mid season, and it will be dominated by PvE gear again?

@symex

how about stop spewing cr ap for a change? honor gear is so cr appy (plus it’s renown capped) is irrelevant, might as well start pvping in 5s/m0 gear instead, basic conquest ilvl is 200, normal has 10 bosses so 10 chances at il 200 (207 last 2 bossess) each week, hc means another 10 chances for il213 (220 last bosses) and i haven’t even started talking about SPAMMABLE m+ that gives a guaranteed second 210 item each week to pveers. Whereas pvp gets what, a il200 ring? 2 weeks for a belt? Weapon at 9th week? Or they want us to just pray to the rng gods each wednesday? They even have the nerve to make us spend 1 week’s worth of conquest for 2 damn conduits, and people like you still try to defend them. To put it mildly, have you seen your therapist lately? Because this pvp “system” isn’t defensible in any way shape or form, it belongs to the dumpster

Get through your thick skull that pve is so much faster at giving great gear than pvp it’s unreal, they lowered the rating for conquest BUT and that’s a HUGE BUT they timegated conq items so hard it doesn’t even matter how much you play arena, we may as well not play arena at all till we are full 213+ from pve. Meet the new boss, same as the last one. The new pvp gearing system is all smokes and mirrors, they didn’t show the caps on the beta and they waited until 1 DAMN DAY before season starts to announce them, that says it all about how this company treats a large portoin of their clients.

If anyone at blizzard with a clear mind reads forums, pls consider what many, MANY pvpers have asked for the last 6 years and consider bringing back mop gearing system since every pvp gearing change you made since has been disastrous

Oh and not to forget, about 75% of raiding gear has versa on it, so there goes the “pvp” stat advantage pvp gear “has”

I guess 4 years of tears from pvp players finally brought smth
Tbh I don’t care about pvp ilvl compared to pve, as long as gearing process takes similar amount of time. Plus 220 is from the weekly box, so it will take you at least 14 weeks to fully gear up with that gear. Early on doing hc raids will still be good for pvp players.

kek… gear shouldn’t be a factor, so genetics shouldn’t be in olympics and let’s have 4ft nba players then… get serious

Hold on - 2100 is now 226, equivalent to Mythic raid loot?

Great choice! I requested this like 15 times last expansion, glad to see it happening.

Killer PvP expansion incoming. Just a few tuning issues left. You’re on the right path!
