Quel’dorei High Elves as an Alliance allied race (Part 1)

High elves are the most requested race in whole WoW for 15 years they asked for them

There are more people then only you know? And it’s not a waste of race But you can have your opinion. And in my Opinion Void elves were a waste of race slot they needed to be high elves in the first place

Its tricky, I can think about just almost everything else for High Elves to be playable, but I can’t picture what a High Elf Heritage armour set should look like.
This could be the heritage armor https://twitter.com/RamavataramaArt/status/1254874872607641601/photo/1

but a lot of people want them ? so why ignore massive amount of playerbase?

And highelves are already in the alliance, plenty of them.

High elves do have every opportunity to get playable. They have a strong and continued lore ingame. Appearing at the Suramar campaigne, helping out in Zul’Aman, in Mist of Pandaria, Legion, Wrath of the Lich king. They have their own mount, own flag/tabard, own voice emotes different than the belves, arguably their own leader (Vereesa windrunner). And can have their own city too (Allerian Stronghold would be fantastic)

However, with the introduction of the Void elves it’s pretty clear that’s not going to happen.

So, instead of asking for them, let’s take the opportunity of the new skin colors and eye colors For Void elves, to simply ask for a few more normal hair colors… and congrats, you have alliance looking high elves.

All that’s missing really is a few normal hair colors, if they added Allerian blonde and black hair, I can see it being a popular race choice for High elf fans.

i dont mind more customization for void elves, but nothing will change thirst FOR highelves but HIGHEVLES.

Void elves are blood elves are high elves.
The Alliance already has High elves as an allied race :man_shrugging:

This is the most reasonable response here.

The best you can hope for now is enough customisation options to essentially make a high elf “in all but name”.

It is unlikely (not impossible) that blizz may offer options for stuff like nametags or racial thematics, but I personally think it is unlikely because it will open a huge can of worms (“Where are my highborne night elf racials?” “Where are my sand troll racials?” “Where are my wildhammer racials?”). The current stances seems to be it is up to the player to fill out the space regarding blizz’s communicated stance over playing a wildhammer dwarf and whether the starting expo would change for you. They stated no, but if a player wants to imagine that’s what their char is, they have the freedom and customisation tools to do it. This is what Exile’s Reach is about, creating a neutral starting experience that doesn’t assume racial identity to allow your headcanon bits to roam free.

What is extremely unlikely (close to impossible) is redefining velf as helf. It doesn’t matter if only one player likes velf, you cannot introduce a race in a game, have players accustom to it, and then change that race, and the racials, and everything about it. The only way this would be fine is if 100% of WoW players agreed with it. If so much as one person prefers Velf “as they are” you cannot do it.

Imagine if blizz said “on balance, we think the DH class doesn’t add anything meaningful, and because a lot of players complain, we’re going to remove the class.” what about the DH players? You give them a new class? which? Anyone can see a developer cannot bait and switch like this.

To be frank getting an AR with such a huge variety of appearence options (as Velf will be, I predict “normal” colours will be added in due course) that allow them to look identical to a race on the other faction is a shockingly good deal. Particularly because there is no real petition hordeside (to the same degree) to get a clone of an alliance race, so this is very much the devs paying attention to alliance feedback for once.

It’s a win. It might not be exactly the win people had in mind, but there you go. Trying to paint it as a loss is beyond belief. The most comparable Horde AR feedback is NB, and so far blizzard have offered…new earrings and blind eyes. Two things those talking about NB changes have not brought up even once. Whereas alliance has got high elves in pretty much every respect sans a few things, and it is very likely a couple of those (hair colour) will be revealed to be included as well.

That’s not going to happen. We have to be logical here.

The best thing (High elf fans) can do now, is to ask for a few more hair colors for the Void elves. And you will get the High elves you seek, with a Slightly different name.

Even the anti-High elf people don’t want to see customization added to void elves, even if it’s something basic as two new hair colors. Because the hatred they have towards the High elves and alliance is very big.

so this is something you should focus on. Instead of a race that’s probably never Going to be added in wow.

The best option is to put that effort into the Void elves, otherwise you will lose this fight against the Anti-High elf people.

except highelves what we asking are not blood elves nor void elves?

i have played classic pretty much exclusivly for the last 2 months or so, and the amount of high elves i’ve seen around azeroth… there are far more than i thought as i only remembered them in the house near the portal to Ghostlands.

can understand why so many people want them.

You can still find plenty of Helves across Azeroth as well, it’s not just Classic.

That’s why I made this threat High elves and blood elf Customization's to make both races happy.

The only elven race i would ever want to play is the Fal’dorei give me that everything else is just too mundane and has been seen already 1000 times

I want to play as spider people.

Everyone has their own opinion.

I think that might be the problem.

People are confused as to what they are asking for, on other sides of the Atlantic.

Some are actually asking for Blood Elves to be forcibly transferred to the Alliance faction (Which obviously is absolute insanity and makes no lore sense)
Some are asking for Void Elves to be Deleted and High Elves to be the new race (Which again is absolute insanity and makes no sense)
Some are asking for The Void Elf race to be renamed ‘High Elf’ (Which absolutely makes no sense and sets a very odd precedent)
Some are asking that, no, sorry, some are -demanding- that Silvermoon be given to the Void Elves after they have been renamed as High Elves, simply because Void Whispers tell Alleria she has a claim to the throne.

This one is delicious, The very reason that Alleria is hearing whispers in here ear telling her lies (She’s a Windrunner, not a Sunstrider, she has no claim to the throne) is that she is a -Void- Elf, but people want her to have those whispers in her ear, whilst deleting the Void Elf race and renaming them as High Elves, so that she can rule Silvermoon.

Sorry, did I miss anything in that cavalcade of absolute imbecility?

Some people want black and white hair colours for Void Elves so that they can look like HIgh Elves. (Thats actually a totally reasonable request)

Some people want -all- the Blood Elf hair colours and styles for Void/High Elves (Jog on mate, that is -not- a reasonable request)

Key fact a lot of people miss here.

High Elves belong in the Horde.

They are the cruel, mercurial selfish monsters that Elves have always been in World of Warcraft.

They don’t automatically belong in the Alliance, and the game setting shows us that they belong in the Horde.

-Some- However, betrayed their birthright, and serve the Alliance.

These should totally be playable.

Demanding that they replace the Void Elves however is an absolutely foolhardy move that will almost certainly guarantee that they never happen in game. Take the customisations. Ask for more, surely I think hair colours and some hairstyles are not unreasonable. But not everything Blood Elves have. After all, even High Elves are not the -proper- branch of the species that exists anymore, just tattered remnants that have proven to be rather too fond of humans, to still be truly regarded as Elvenkind anymore.

Whilst I usually agree with you, Brigante, and find the vast majority of your points and argument well thought out and well worded, I have to completely disagree with you here. Not nescesarily the part about High Elves belonging on the horde, but the fact that your reasoning for them belonging on the horde is that they are “cruel, mercurial, selfish monsters.”
None of these are iconic or even important traits within the Horde as a whole which regularly tends to favor traits like “honorable, respectful, survivalist.”

As for the actual topic, I have to sadly agree that High Elves being made an allied race at this point is incredibly beyond hope. The only conditions I could see it happening under is if WoW was genuinely on the verge of death and Blizzard did it as a last resort to try and boost sales. But, considering all the announcements made so far regarding Void Elves in Shadowlands, I’m incredibly confident that they will add more normal hair options, and I think it is rightfully deserved.

Is that assuming that all Alliance races are good golden boys who can’t be monstrous?

Amusing that people here assume High Elves shouldn’t be Paladins because there were none of those before TBC, but for some odd reason they’re okay with High Elf Monks.

I must have surely missed those hundreds of High Elf Monks running around during Vanilla.
