Isnt the LOTR elves major plotline, That they have huge resentment towards humans cause of their actions and still helping em at the end too?
Do they also have a magical addiction and have to use meditation to not succumb to corruption?
If they do, then Blood Elves are also Tolkien Elves. 
No, Elven problems in lotr and the full blown lore is different. No magic addiction, their issue is more like that they think theyre high and mighty even in the past the issue was prevevalent. So yea can’t really say blood elves are similiar in that vein

High Elves are boring.
They are so intertwined with Humans
They dedicate themselves to Humans > Quel’Thalas
And that’s why I want them.
I’ve got the best of both worlds and through RP, I’ve managed to create a family of two Quel’dorei (father - Mage/Arcanist and daughter - Hunter/Ranger - as velfs) and two Sin’dorei (mother - Warlock and son - Paladin/Blood Knight) who have two different perspectives on what happened after the Third War and why they are all correct.
That’s the beauty of Sin’dorei and Quel’dorei that no other race can truly compare to, in creative writing.
Classic alliance extremism
It’s not extremism when it’s a fact. Vanilla Horde was ugly and monstrous. Blood Elves are your welfare system to remain afloat in the game.

I didn’t get anything. The Horde were given Belfs because the faction was dying. Yeah and it turned out it saved the Horde and the game. But for some reason you think you deserved them more on the Alliance cause, well, cause you are just that wonderful. Forget everything else. So don’t talk to me about entitlement. Brat.

Nobody asked for them? Really? Bogus. The vocal helfers asked for the belf model and requested they be called something else. Blizzard gave you velfs. What you think the NB elves were better? They didn’t even bother to make them look like the NPCs. Just starved some nelfs and slapped some tattoos on them. The velfs were given to the Alliance as a compromise to the Helfs. The NB were given to the Horde so they’d have a matching race. Nobody asked for them. And some Alliancebois here are still crying that the NB went Horde.
Maybe all the Helfs went velf. I don’t know. Fact is, Velfs swallowing the Helfs was inevitable. Blizzard isn’t gonna clone Belfs even more, they aren’t gonna make them neutral or whatever nonsense you people come up with. There are not gonna be any Helfs left because you people keep using them as some sort of baseless hype only to start weeping once reality hits you, that your helf fantasy it’s not happening the way you want it to. So go turn your velf blonde or roll a belf and stop the nonsense already.
Nightborne going Horde is 100% down to us…the High Elf supporters.
Night Elf fans can deny it until the cows come home, but I’ve got eyes and I can remember the demands for playable High Elves on the Alliance side. I know because I was there and I was one of them.
We didn’t get what we wanted, but Blizzard knew of these demands and so the Nightborne going Horde only made sense.
For me, being a supporter of playable High Elves, I don’t understand the need for Horde stuff. Why do these “Alliance fans” want Horde stuff so much? It makes no sense to me…surely, having our OWN stuff is far better.
High Elves “sharing” with Blood Elves isn’t good at all. All that is, is more Blood Elves living in Silvermoon until they change their name at Level 10 and go Alliance.
