Random ban?

The issue is that we cant appeal as according to the ticketing our accounts arent banned. Think a wave was sent out but it’s gone a bit wrong!

seems like it

You can write an e-mail. And my advice is to be relatively formal, and polite and very spot on and add a lot of details - so they know it is you for doing equiery and you request to find out what is the basis.

Instant ban indicates they presume you used bot software. If you have not used any and are 100% sure you have not i.e. not forgotten CheatEngine or other tools run while running warcraft , then also make sure your virus protection has not given false positive (there’s incident from past, where Blizzards AI mistook some virus softwares update as danger, and for example ESET protection and Blizzard apps do not get along at all; least on certain systems).

If many people contact them about false positives, they might revise their findings. They have also in past done mistakes, so it wouldn’t be 1st and not all would be lost. But … yeah… time to e-mail.

people shouldn’t eat ‘wrong ban’ in silence. If this is the case. Definitely contact.

Also when you got hacked in some point - actions of hackers can get you banned permanently too. Has happened to me, where system banned me middle of talking to GM. That was funny one. But GM unbanned me as he knew what was going on actually.

Have you tried to log in to game? Just wondering if it’s some email bug thing.

I have the same issue. Never botted, never cheated or anything. Spoke to live chat who said I have to wait a week at max and “if” it can be overturned they will sort something. Which is terrifying because Ive never cheated!

this is the most info ive seen on this so far to be honest

Hum. ‘if’ ? What they mean ‘if’ ? If you never cheated, there shouldn’t be ‘if’.

I have a friend who just informed me they have been banned for 6 months too. He doesn’t bot, he never cheated, played since vanilla, mainly playing classic lately too. This is insane, Blizzard better have a good explanation for this and react fast too.

Sounds like they auto banned then need time to look into it further.

I do hope it gets resolved fairly for the honest players. I dislike bots and cheaters as much as next guy, but most definitely we should keep making noise if proper players got caught in crossfire.

It would be company policy at this point to keep all options open.

Though mine own experience with live chat has matched that of Galataya’s (thanks to whom have helped), no real detail, take a while to investigate, nothing really mentioned as to why, just a case of waiting I guess.

yeah, they might have just had a major fault with the ban wave. but anyhow, happy new year and good luck!

The timing of this wave of bans troubles me. Even more so if it isn’t justified. Considering most customer people wouldn’t be working 100% during this time of the year, couldn’t that have waited until after the 2nd of January?

Yeah, happy new year to all who have been banned with no warning and no explanations. Not sure my merry wishes do anything for them.

 :tada: :sparkles: :rage: :rage: :rage:

So, since I’ve seen a few complaints about this…
To make sure:
You haven’t done any changes to alternate models in game?
Haven’t been afk’ing in AV?
No addons you can think of that might be giving you too much of an advantage or are a bit dodgy?

That being said, there can be false positives on automated ban waves so appeal if you feel that is the case.

Bit weird they would do an automated ban wave during the holidays though.

I both you and your mate got banned at the same time there’s something you’re running, perhaps you dont realise it.

Personally, sharing it with a relative in the same house I would be fine with. Blizzard on the other hand. i doubt it’s something they’d ban you for.

Besides, it sounds like another issue if his mate got a ban at the same time.

6 months is a rather harsh ban, even for Blizzard, so it’s third party programs or botting. I’d guess.

Email about that too. They can’t ban you and continue to charge you. Cancel the sub for the moment and ask for a refund.

What a skillful time to apply account suspensions, seemingly automatically generated.
Just some cynical musing, but I could imagine they figured out that during this time of year cheaters speculate on low customer support activity and that made Blizzard apply some harsh autoban system.

Most stuff like that is automated. The only human intervention is when you make a ticket to ‘appeal’ it.

Here is something, it could have been up to a year ago that they caught you doing something, maybe using t-morph.

Not sure this is up to date info, as I’ve logged through at least 3 providers (home net, phone net, proxy server in another country whilst at work). The only thing I remember is that I had to write the account password for the first time while logging through proxy. On 2nd login it went through like I play from home.

I think it’s if it’s another country within minutes. Some proxies can look like you are in another country and, if you read the Ts & Cs it says proxies are against the rules, the redirecting data traffic thing.
