So I played in Vanilla and achieved rank 10 but back then servers were smaller and less people were ranking. I was also on a medium population PvE realm which I feel made it easier since there was less people who were pvp inclined.
I remember I jumped 2 ranks in 1 week back then during school break and barely slept for the week and hit standing 1 on the server severely pissing off all the R12-14s. I’m sure I could have achieved it with less effort back then as what I did was pretty much overkill.
So my question is this: How much time do you need to devote nowadays to get rank 10?
Im thinking of going for it again but obviously I’m now older and have work commitments but still find time to play in the evening till early morning and on my days off.
I know it will differ based on realm size but is it possible to get rank 10 without no lifing? (12+ hours per day)
What do you feel is the average time you’ll have to play per week to achieve it?

It heavily depends on the server you’re trying to do it.
Some got very low ‘agreed on caps’, others not so much.
Good luck to you. On a lesser competitive realm you probably won’t need to do 12+ hours for R10 but past that… Probably even on those kinda realms.

I imagine I’ll be able to achieve it I’ll just keep steadily ranking and if I make it to rank 8/9 I can always take a week or two off work to achieve it. I’d rather not and just be able to do it with the time I have now but if needs must…
On my server i am estimating you need atleast 200k honor per week to get even close to rank 10, which will take quite a few weeks. To get there in a more reasonable time i would say 300k each week is more what to aim for. Probably these values are rather low for alliance tbh, maybe add 50% due to instant que. I would recommend geting the addon honor spy to see more info about your standing compared to others and then feel it our what you probably need. If you are sub standing 300 consistantly you should be set to reach rank 10 sooner or later
It is possible, will just take longer. On gehennas right now I farm 400k a week and after getting rank 6 it take 2 weeks to rank up. I’m guessing 3 weeks from rank 9 to 10 with 400k/week

Thanks for the reply matey that’s music to my ears. I was doing around 200k a week when AV first came out without putting too much time in and still running dungeons etc so 400k shouldn’t be a problem if I focus solely on PvP.
Alternatively you could just wait a couple of months - chances are the initial PvP “rush” will drop off, and ranking will be easier (server dependant)

Thats not needed, rank 10 is verry easy obtainable, it only takes longer when u in top 100 instead top 10 
Some of MY guildies and i even ranking only in wsg as horde 
just wait a couple of months until all the tryhards are done ranking

My RP PVE server seems to require about 100k a day to rank up consistently and be in the top 20 standing or so.
Is it possible? Yes
is it worth it? No
if you care that much! you could make a char on each server, use spy honor to check the top tier Honor gain needed. and based on your hours played per day, you should be able to know in which bracket you will be placed.
note that you can get rank 10 in 5xweeks if you’re scoring first on server every week, However that will not happen unless you account share or bot lol…But above average players should hit rank 10 in 10xweeks with 8xhours played per day if queue is not long, more hours if queue is bad, and casuals might hit rank10 in 7months with casual constant play.
It’s reassuring to hear that I don’t have to bother with ranking, as the only reason would be the blue set. I’ll try to keep at rank 3 so I can get cheaper riding/mount.
Rank 10 is possible even if you play casually, as long as you pvp when youre online all the time
It depends on the server. I pvp for about 20 hours a week right now and i am hardly increasing in rank. Rank 6 right now and i am increasing by about 20% each week with that amount of playtime. Sadly it is not maintainable for me for a long period of time to reach rank 8… i am pretty sure that botters destroy the brackets. In order to get to rank 8 in a decent amount of time i would need to pvp 30-40 hours per week which i simply cant do.
I have done calculation for a friend. He’s Rank 8, 0%. He want Rank 10.
He’s on competitive server with lot of people that try to achieve ranks with a pool size of 4k players, Horde side.
Depends on your timeplay :
He’ll need 5 week with bracket 11 every week, it require 16h/day without World PvP between queue, so you can afk a bit.
He’ll need 4 week with bracket 12 every week, it require 18h/day with World PvP between queue, so you can’t afk.
Bracket 13 and 14 are unrealistic, since bracket 13 is 20h/day with World PvP, and bracket 14h 22h/day with World PvP. Basicly, you can damage yourself if you do that.
12h/day is probably not enough to get bracket 11, unless you play a non-competitive realm.
And we talk about R8 to R10, I don’t talk about R1 to R10.
This is much harder than Vanilla, because there’s a lot of share-account and cheater who use bot AFK in Alterac Valley entrance cave, and lot of tryharder.
If you have a normal life, forget that instantly.

Forget it.
If you’re not botting 24/7 there’s no way to get rank 10 at the moment.

I reached r10 today with a fulltime 5/7 job. My last week honor gained was 700k and put me to bracket 12 on my server.
Just play casually until r8/9 then try to nolife a week or 2 for the last part. Shouldn’t be that much of a hassle.
It’s a whole different story if you have no acces to premade discords though.
If you solo queue with pugs i’d say you have no chance at rank 10 with a job.
On megaservers like Firemaw, rank 10 is very nolify at the moment.
You’d need about 600k honor, so about 40-50 hours of AV in a mid-tier premade. For months.
Even rank 8 (that was supposed to be almost free) requires 15+ hours to commit weekly.
It’s of course very different on “dead” servers with 800k honor cap.
