Reading all this threads about no-lifing AV, raging about afk players…makes me wonder what is the big deal about Rank 14.
Is there some uber leet gear, title or both? Exclusivity obsession?

Lustyhoro, you do know that this is not an answer. Or at least no a useable answer. I too am a proud holder of no rank ans solely checked this question to get an answer to the question of what it was all about.
I was never into PvP - not 15 years ago, not today, so I never found oyt what the big deal was.
Can this question be answered in such a way that a naive PvE’er can understand it?
I mean what the big deal of being ahead of the curve holder, or best pve guild in the world? Answer that and you most likely can apply that to the pvp questions aswell.

It was a reasonable answer. People have psyched themselves up into thinking it’s the most important thing to show off what rank you are. It’s pretty meaningless.
I think the reality hasn’t quite hit people yet of how much effort is required to remain in your rank.
You get some decent rewards + you get title.
I’m rank 1, sounds way more impressive than rank 14!

Grand marshal/high warlord and weapons equivalent (slightly better than) to AQ40 weapons.

I can’t answer those questions either. I think it stems from my not being able to understand WoW as a competitive game.
I understand a rank - might be fun, something like world first max herbalist or such.
Are the weapon, you get from rank 14 better overall, better for PvP only or what?
@ Arbet, well, if he had said. Yes, you get some shiny weapons and bragging rights I would have been totally happy. It was not so much what he said, but the way he said it.
This is a sideways way of telling me I should have known that you got some epic weapon out if it.
Also I see many people running around with titles. How many different do you get - you can have only one or how many can carry the same rank at the same time?
Amazing gear that you will keep for a long time. Assuming Blizzard doesn’t release everything all at once.

Well i can’t mylsef fathom the mindset where people would not assume by default that you will be getting gear and rewards for doing pvp (even if you are only pve’r) so kinda felt pointless to point out you get shiny epics for doing ranks… all this info can be easily found by 5 seconds of google too instead of waiting on forums longer for same information.
You can only have one rank, and you won’t get to keep it if your honor degrades enough in week, you’ll be dropped to previous rank. You get to keep your items tho.
If this came out as snarky or hostile, i apologize… long years have made me elitist to a certain point.

Thanks much more clear. Of course you’ll get soemthing from it, I think my question was more in the line of … is it really worth it? How much better is it? Is it only better for PvP? What about the looks? I can of course look every item up at Wowhead, find the best possible gear not from Ranks and compare, but phew … that’s a lot of work, and somebody got to know because they tried it or want to try it.
I am also sometimes impatient with people not understanding what I see as logical and obvious 
I know nothing about ranks. And I find that all the places I try and look seems to assume that you have tried your hand at it - which I have not (15 years of WoW and never PvP’ed or held a rank 
I think my old main had around 300 honoralble kiss to his name - all from the achievement where you go int a BG dressed throught the Wintervolt machine) - and this makes it hard to find heads and tails to it. There’s always some base concepts missing.
One more questions, I have seen many ditfferent ranks. Are there one player only in each rank, or can there be several Grunts and High Marshals at once?
Like someone already told i think, best weapons til aq40+ or so.
If it’s worth it… err. Depends on a person… i would never see them worth it due how insanely long road it is to no-life literally all your free time spamming bg’s.
And no, they are just as good for pve too but still, not worth the horrible effort it takes imo.
Also it’s basically impossible to attain as solo player too.
Only one high marshal / warlord, but lower ranks there can be found multiple people. It’s very confusing system if you are not familiar with it… at least i don’t posess enough skills to explain it better than what wowwiki and similar sites do.

fight against mages, you will understand this is pvp game, but not for mages 
There is both gear and title, however gear will become obsolete with Naxx except for very few items maybe, and title will not be shown above one’s head anymore once the character has de-ranked.
If it’s worth the time is up to anyone to decide. I have known people whose grinding to the rank 13/14 was so demanding and tedious, that they barely PvP’d after gaining it because exhausted. Most people do it for the usual show-off anyway.
I think R14 especially with all the bots pushing up requirements to get there because of 24/7 botfarming AV, by the time anyone actually gets to R14 without botting and cheating, probably gonna be so burnt out of WoW that there’s no way he will keep playing after that.
So I really don’t think it worths to even try right now, maybe if bots were all banned, maybe then.

Thank you. I feel a bit wiser now. I’d like to make it to rank 3 for cheaper repair and vendor prizes. But I do not think I’ll ever do it. Certainly not if I have to PvP each week to keep the rank.
I’m not going to change my ways now … do you keep the gear even if down-ranked, or is it like “requires rank 12 or better” like some Engineering items?
For gear you are only required to have certain rank to buy them, after you do they are yours to keep and equip even without rank (but think you can’t rebuy new ones until you have that rank again, so don’t lose em). Can’t remember if you get to keep cheaper repair if you lose the rank tho.
