Nah, we should make as much noise about it as possible right now so Blizzard gets the idea and doesn’t even entertain the thought of putting anything like this in the game again.

Tier sets and gear has been working without any issues between vanilla to WoD and now DF.

I think you forget Wrath when a lot of items had gems on them.
Those new gems are embellishment level of power from the text, I don’t see how it’s such a problem unless it’s some dumb rng system to get them.

If they are easily obtainable and deterministic, then everyone will have it, meaning everyones individual power shifts up by the same amount, effectively nullifying the need for borrowed power.

You could say that for everything that gives you power in the game, the gems are just added flavor.

he borrowed power is probably, ironically a response to the needlessly complex talent systems.

I don´t think there has ever been a bigger DPS gap when it comes to play skill in the history of WoW.

So now Blizzard probably feel like they ´´need´´ to add some kind of passive DPS to make up for the skill gap.

If this just serves as some kind of .7 catchup to help guilds finally clear heroic / push in M+ and get AoTC then honestly, this is a very good system. We will see though. I also think ppl need to remember that almost EVERYTHING is borrowed power. There is not an inherent problem with borrowed power (like ilvl increase). The problem has always been the implementation.

Also I know everyone will hate me for this, but I don´t mind the passive effects. Gearing in WoW is simply too boring at the moment, and anything Blizzard does to try and spice things up should be applauded. People think I am some kind of negative Nancy here, but Blizzard MIGHT be onto something good here (depending on implementation of course).

There is not an inherent problem with borrowed power (like ilvl increase). The problem has always been the implementation.

For a 0.7 Patch? When the sort of player who would feel the need to have such an item would be fully geared anyway. So giving them something new to work towards at the end of the Season.

Gear in general is borrowed power, tier sets are borrowed power and somehow they’re fine but those gems aren’t?

With the revival catalyst you can create a tier set doing content you normally do. I just made my last piece and it took under an hour to complete the quest. You can also play just fine without a tier set.
Borrowed power generally takes weeks/months of grinding and is necessary for character progression.
I don’t know how this thing works so I won’t speculate at the moment.

I have my concerns about it. How will you able to acquire them? Will it be account wide, or character locked?

Also knowing that every game is competitive focused, it would become part of the core builds in a very short time, even if it’s random or costly to get. And with that you can imagine how the distance will grow between tryhards and casuals even further, the latter trying to keep up, but in the end loosing the damned ‘rio’ race they didn’t want to partake in the first place. Not to mention alts.
