It doesn’t help that the AH market is full of dumb people. Selling items for less than what a vendor will buy them for… I see it all the time, it’s mind bogging.
That’s not the biggest problem, What I hate the most about wow, especially after turning into the everyday casual.
I hate maintaining my character, I hate nothing more about this game than trying to figure out what to enchant whats the best enchant embelishements, how many do I need, manage my gem slots.
and when you do this every season it gets really annoying, that hours of my limited playtime goes towards these things.
for me, its the barrier to entry
the cost put up this artificial wall,
new players that would love to play, simple cant afford too
and then you have like you mentioned the time investment involved and including the time needed to wait for queue popps

i was 100% against the pvp templates in the past, but now i see them as a possible solution to making everything equal and fair
if i could vote on it, id probably vote for pvp templates to return and to include enchants / gems as part of the template
Then just take advantage of these people, that’s the point. Even in this very thread there is a guy who tips 20k for a crafted piece and then complains that gearing is too expensive and he would rather take over time flipping burgers to buy a token than use brain for two minutes and make gold in the game.
Pro tip - if you don’t care for quality (which doesn’t affect pvp gear) you can set up orders for 500-1000 gold and it will be filled anyway, because without concentration crafts are free and someone will snatch it).
I always gave 200gold on multiple different realm and I always get it done, 2k is insane but this guy giving 15k is absolutely stupid imo haha.

Why do you leave a 10 to 15k tip for the crafter? I leave 1k at most and the order is finished instantly anyway. Same with the mats, you just buy the cheapest ones since the gear is going to scale to same iLVL anyway. I didn’t spend more than 10k for a piece of crafted gear.
Why? Because his arguments are weak af so be needs to exaggerate to try a d prove his point… Or is just completely clueless…

9 sockets on your gear
- 7k a bloodstone / 3 bloodstone per socket,
27 bloodstones in total = 189k gold
thats just the sockets simple math really
lets move onto now the crafted gear
algari ring costs currently 21k in raw materials for the ring ( if you buy the cheapest quality )
you require 2 crafted rings for bis Stats
= 42k
now lets enchant these rings
thats 15k per enchant on my server
=30k
2 rings + enchants = 102k gold
grand total for 2 crafted items and enchant on rings and 9 sockets for gear = £291k
- gems
ok so now lets get juicy and put gems in those sockets
7k each gem for varstalie onyx ( mastery - vers gem )
7 x 9 sockets
= 63k gold
we are now at 354k gold
and we havent even touched Crafted embelishments yet
so now
weapon embelishments and crafted weapon
Algari 2h sword with nerubian
41k gold in materials
2h enchant Radiant = 20k on AH currently
61k for the crafted 2h
so lets add up what we have so far
- 354k + 61k = 415k gold spent on 1 character
thats me being conservative with materials and ranks
415k gold spent with no fee charges
ps. i dont flip burgers , have a guess what i do for a living

its 12500 on my realm and that includes 7k for bloodstone which you could theoretically buy with honor
which isnt even true. Id even say conquest ring is better because versa is the best stat in season 1 with not hitting DR.

Dont get me wrong i think stuff is way to expensive too and especially embellishments are just boring and only cost gold but you are exaggerting on purpose which completely devalues anything you say.

for a teenager playing 10 hours a day… that might be ok
but for your average player that can get in couple hours a week, how on earth are they going to fund the bloodstones without that time investment? ( the answer is… they dont )
and if we want to argue over pennys and pounds here, yes you may pay slightly less than me but it wont be far off my mark of 415k being conservative

No item costs 40k to craft and if you are tipping anything more than 750 gold then that’s just a stupid thing to do. 10-15k is so beyond fried.

Professions are only truly profittable if you are ahead of the curve and in the “know”.
This only happens at the very start of an expansion, usually the first few days, as those who play this game to make gold spend countless hours on beta testing all the methods and then rush the first few days getting ahead.
Those that do this end up with millions , even billions the first few weeks of an expansion . And that’s when most of the gold is made. Leveling profs after that point will only end up being a gold sink with at best average returns outside of some hidden technique which gold sellers keep to themselves.
Overall it isn’t worth the average player’s time to farm gold at this inefficient rate, and they know that, since it is much easier “farming” irl currency and purchasing gold instead. That is exactly what those goldsellers rely on.
Professions as they currently are only favor this kind of gameplay loop, further feeding the rmt mafia.
Dont forget there are many post communistic countries in europe, where they have like 1/3 of normal western salary, so this argument doesnt apply to a lot of ppl.
For me, I dont have issue with money, but I refuse to support all these anti customer tactics blizzard uses in the past decade. I just wont do it, Id rather burn the money.
