Request for GM Action: PvP Rank Loss Due to Malicious Summoning Exploit

Dear Blizzard team,

I’m writing on behalf of several players from Thunderstrike server who have recently fallen victim to a malicious exploit during the current Rank 14 PvP grind on WoW Classic: Anniversary.

Some players have been advertising extremely cheap summon services, only to lure unsuspecting players into zones where NPCs are then killed — resulting in the summoned players being flagged and losing their PvP rank progress. This is not only deeply unfair but also undermines one of the most grueling and significant achievements in the game.

While we’ve heard that some of these bad actors have been banned, the damage remains: the affected players have not had their PvP ranks restored, and weeks of dedicated effort have been erased due to actions beyond their control.

Given the time-sensitive and competitive nature of the Rank 14 grind, we urgently ask the Game Masters and support team to review this situation. These players were clearly tricked and exploited through no fault of their own, and they deserve to have their progress reinstated.

Please take this seriously. This exploit damages the integrity of the game and punishes those who are genuinely committed to the challenge.

Thank you for your attention.

Sincerely,

The ‘affected players’ have paid for this (obviously a kind of grandparent scam). And now they got what they have paid for.

Thank you for sharing your point of view — it perfectly represents the mindset that’s driving new and mid-level players away from WoW, straight into the arms of other games.

Keep mocking legitimate concerns, supporting exploiters, and calling solidarity “idiocy” — and we’ll all be left wondering why the game population drops to 300 hardcore trolls wondering where everyone went.

Bravo. You’re not just watching the game die — you’re helping it.

I don’t support exploiters. But if someone pays for a ‘service’, for ‘boosting’ or other ridiculous things, he must not wonder if he gets betrayed. This is what I mean. So open up your eyes who you trust or who you give your money/gold. Nothing is for free.

Warlock summons are a legitimate part of the game, just like mage food or portals. That’s why people trust those offers. It’s not “boosting” or some shady underground deal — it’s a normal, everyday service in WoW.

Which is what makes this kind of bait-and-trap tactic even worse: it exploits the trust built around regular gameplay features and weaponizes them against players. That’s not clever. That’s griefing, plain and simple.

Just like when mages create portals in front of the AV starting gate to trick people into leaving the battleground and getting deserter — they get banned for that. Because it’s abuse, even if it uses a legitimate spell.

So let’s not confuse the tool with the intent. Summons aren’t the problem — exploiting them to sabotage others is.

But isn’t a there a text where the destination for the summoning will be?

Creating a portal by a malicious mage within a battleground is something I did not see in a long time. And I didn’t know that the mage can be banned for this behaviour.

When I see someone spamming in /1 or /2 for some dubious service, I usually report him. But I never got feedback from Blizzard if there were any actions taken.

No new player will do the rank 14 grind. It´s a farce anyway, compared to what it was prior to the removal of decay.

DHKs were always restricting group play. Now it is much more extreme with griefers trying to come up with all kinds of methods to deliver players DHK’s to let them farm 500K honor extra and then brag about it on Discord. The reality is that the DHK system at this point only serves bullies and inflicts quite large damage to random bystanders.

I gues you lost your ability to read when you parents dropped you on your head. The OP clearly states that he is buying a SUMMONING SERVICE. This has in no means any relations with boosting or what ever you insist. Next to that it goes way further then only summoners griefing with DK’s.

Currently if you join a DMF group there is a high chance youll get people deliberately kill civillian NPC’s. And next to that you have priests of the opposite faction mind controlling you and forcing DK’s up on players.

This has now got so far that a majority of the people will not play the game or enter any zone where there are civillian npc stationed that will result in a DK. This is a major issue and needs to be adressed asap.

No need for hard feelings, buddy.

What’s a DMF group? And why should be there a group that is ‘deliberately’ killing civilians? For what purpose? This group, if it exists before your summoning, will suffer the same penalties on their honor.

And now there are not only warlocks but priests too? This seems to be a sophisticated conspiracy, only to make you have dishonorable kills.

You can only be summoned if you are in a group. And if you’re in a group, you always see if the other group members are PVP flagged or infight and what debuffs they have. So when you see something is going on there, why let you them summon you?

You must be 40 year old living under a rock, if you weren’t familliar with DMF groups let me break it down for you; On PvP servers Darmoonfaire always gets camped by the opposite faction. So what do you do? You form a group that can fight them to overtake the area and you can safely take the DMF buff from Sage.

And with the lvl of sarcarsm you are answering on this post I can clearly tell you are not even playing classic atm.

Yes you can clearly see that people are pvp flagged and or in combat, but thats usually the case on a pvp server in a opposite factions zone. You will automatically get PvP flagged.

Idk if your just a sarcastic troll or blatantly clueless and giga dented in the head.

So DMF means Darkmoon Faire, okay. I don’t do Darkmoon Faire, in my point of view this is for people who don’t have a RL where they can go with friends and relatives to the next real life funfair. But if you go to DMF and you let you be summoned by some unknown people, and you get involved in some brawl, this is no surprise. In RL it would be similar, you go somewhere, you go there while knowing there will be a fight and then you wonder if civilians are affected. In RL you even would go to jail after this. But here in the game, you call for the big daddy Blizzard? You are obviously on a PVP realm, you are summoned by some PVPers, you are intended to do PVP and you go deliberately to a clash and then wonder if your honor is downrated? Fo’ sho’, bro??

My man please just stop commenting on this post, you are so out of touch its unreal.

Same thing happened to me earlier today. Being a newbie, I did not know that there are some no-life grievers who would form a group for the DMF buff only to present the players invited with a few dishonorable kills. My performance depends on the r14 weapons and I had to use vacation time for the grind. Blizzard representatives do not reply in time (the reset will be in a day and the approx. reply time is 2 days) and there is no proper informing as to these exploits. That is deeply frustrating and player unfriendly. Unsure how to ‘summon’ a GM, but that is an issue that needs immediate address. Hopefully, I won’t have to grind 60 hours for 3% honor. That is just unfair and ridiculous.

Unless this gets on Blizzards agenda asap, you have to do another week. The GM’s wont do anything about this, I can assure you that. The best way to get it on the agenda if enough players raise this malfunctioned mechanic.

It’s not significant at all, you just have too much free time. That’s all.

Stop it, ChatGPT.

My god, bots in game, bots on the forums. Is this real life?

You know I’m right. It’s your fault if you get summoned to a PVP brawl where civilian NPCs are being killed accidentally. Or, as the Englishmen say, cling together, swing together.

This is an example how people can be evil , it is scary sometimes…In my book there are no excuses for this behaviour, they are doing this just to feed their inner demons.

Their are dozens of videos out there of griefers promoting their success. In most of them there arent any civilian NPCs even near them. The NPCs get kited their by grievers, often crossing large distances. They go through all this trouble because for them the payout is so high, namely inflicting insane damage / grief to another player.
