So basically I struggle to farm gold in open world. I got mining and herbalism and I am sitting at 150-170g. Because I don’t have 100% mount I can’t really compete with people who do have it for ores / herbs. Can anyone give me an idea of how should I farm my gold? I tried farming mushrooms in the Hinterlands and Mara but I feel like it’s way to slow, it’s like 12g / hour. Unfortunately can’t do jump runs cause I don’t have a warrior friend and pugs usually reserve the veins. What else can I try other than leveling a farming alt?
Thanks in advance.
What? Reserved thorium veins in DM? Might be the stupidest thing yet
Yet It’s happening, at least on Shazzrah. And it’s not one group per hour or something, it’s every group going there
Jump runs are still a lot of gold, even with reserved veins just by vendoring blues/greens from bosses. Since every boss drops atleast 1 weapon you can easily get 30g/h just by vendoring if you run a 2man and round-robin the bossdrops
Which dungeon is this? Surely not DM East
Ok, my bad “can” drop 1 weapon out of like 4 items which is rather high
vanilla is not friendly towards those who can’t make friends sry mate
I farmed my epic mount gold with dungeon spaming and selling stuff mostly to vendor and if something was worth put it on AH.You can get 100+ g for dungeon spam each day just from vendoring stuff.Plus people still keep buying runecloth 1.5g each stack. It all adds up quickly.
Thats good because it creates DM activity for whoever might need an item. Obviously the people reserving thorium veins are basically giving a free loot spot since they just greed on items. What is wrong with that?
Thank you guys for all the information, I appreciate that.
Drop mining, you can track two things at the same time. I got my epic mount no more then 3 weeks after I hit level 60. I got most of my gold from herb/alchemy.
Make a friend (your guild might be a good place to start) and start doing jump runs
This a thousand times
We tried me and a warrior, unfortunately we were not able to kill hydraspawn
You can farm lashers in DMe. Pretty nice gold with herbalism. Normal resto and any gear works fine, just use a shield and pull 1 or 2 packs at a time until you have good gear and you can pull 3 packs. There are 9 easy to farm packs.
I pull 3+2+2+1. What is great with this is that you can do a run or 5 or 10 whenever you want and dont need to bother with anyone else. Relaxing and always available. If you there are 100 enemies camping Dire Maul, when you are in, you are safe.
Jump runs with a warrior is probably best though.
If you have mining you can run loops in EPL mining rich thorium veins. Thorium is low, will likely get even lower unless you are on a realm with horde being minority and low population - then with time amount of “workers” will be so low prices will be good. I have mining on my mage, did a lot lot EPL RTV farm to get some crystals before I drop it (if you get a crystal or two then on Nethergarde Keep it’s 35-40g each, stack of thorium bars is less than 10g).
As for herbalism - best paired with alchemy or with a friend that has it and doesn’t mind crafting 20 different pots in various quantities every day or two If mining won’t be your thing just drop it and get alchemy. The advantage is that you can just farm swamp of sorrows, ruins of alterac and other mid to max level zones where aside of max level zones competition will be low if any. Then you craft modest amounts of multiple potion and sell them. Depending on time some will sell better than others so you can adjust. Like levelers will buy 1 frost oil for quest turn in. PvP and future raiding will use a lot of free action potions. Plus raid specific protection potions, mana/HP pots, +str pot, mongoose pot and so on.
Also as a healer you can just run instances. You should get few or more gold per run. Then do all remaining quests (it can be harder as rsham, but like elite EPL quests require groups anyway). At 60 quests give way more gold - I got at least few hundred gold from WPL/EPL questing at max level. Plus leftover BRM quests.
Alt is a large time and gold expense. It then has to earn way more to pay for itself. Option for level 35 alt with maxed professions can sometimes be a thing.
Thanks a lot for the information, it is very usefull! Although for the mining suggestion you didn’t get my point.I just can’t compete for ores with ppl who have epic mount, that’s just insane.
Speed shouldn’t be a problems as those nodes respawn slower than you can move between them. And often they spawn in not so accessible areas and not everyone visits them. If zones are so heavily populated then just drop mining, but if not then try to get some experience with it.
In EPL my circle is:
- The Noxius Glade (up the hill): it will spawn in one of few spots around the hill ring, sometimes near entrance. If there is none I just kill undead around the ring and then mount up and ride around the ring. Often miners come, don’t find anything and leave but at this spot I wait for respawn every circle
- Then I go to Northpass Tower close to Northdale lake (there is a camp of undead - I pass them from the northern side, as the node can be on their edge or side)
- Then when I reach the road I go to Infectis scar and ride along the edges skipping city. Node can be somewhere on the wall of the hole
- Then to Pestilence scar and similar loop around edges
- Then back to Noxious Glade
In WPL there is Weeping cave where skipping oozes you can farm the plant mobs (drop recipe for greater nature prot potion, will be selling before AQ40), essence of life etc. Plus there is one spawn point for RTV
In Winterspring you can check the lake for spawns, then go to the bridge to the demons sought - RTV can spawn somewhere below.
Un’Goro can have RTV around the vulcano or around elite Stegodons (Terror Run) plus smaller nodes around the place.
Do like I did in vanilla and also now. Roll a hunter alt where you can do the farming
Is pretty common. Maybe not just now but later on, the motivation for tanks to do dungeons will mostly be resources
