Blizzard has backups upon backups, that’s part of the way they managed to even bring Classic to fruition to begin with.
It is insane to think that they just threw away all the raw data.

You are an employee with the developers, and do you have clear evidence that it has been deleted? Enough absurdity. Please, your comments are very negative. In every topic related to this, you write and oppose and stand up to those who demand that.

So? It’s the truth people won’t accept.

What Happens if I Don’t Make a Choice?
If you haven’t made a choice for any of your characters since the last time you logged in to either WoW Classic or Burning Crusade Classic, those characters will be moved to Burning Crusade Classic. The Classic Era version of the character will be permanently deleted and unavailable for cloning.
This is what Blizz wrote – I might split hairs or count dots on fly legs, but I see only the one not activted VERSION of the character being deleted, not the data behind.
I know as in I’m positively certain that deleted data and deleted in game is not same.
In game you can not restore character below level 10, level over 10 for longer and longer perod of time. But GMs can restore your character longer than this even though character deleted in game.
So let’s go on pestering Blizz

The data is the character, I’m not quite sure what you mean by the data behind.
Actually they can’t, they used to be able to quite a few years ago but now it’s not possible. I think the automation has taken over after you delete a low level character which is only there until the next back up, and I’m not sure how often Blizzard back up the data but going by my experience when they messed up a long time ago it may be every couple of days. They might keep a few back ups stored but not all of them.
They had to use a back up when the servers character data became corrupted and they had to use the back up which set my character back 2 days. This was a long time ago.
I think the only real way to pester them is to use the suggestion ingame or possibly a ticket. I’ve opened a ticket and asked about cloning coming back and got a reply which quoted the support article but gave no definitive answer. But then again Blizzard have an aversion to saying no.

You think of “consolidation” mess - sure disproves at least somewhat my theory. I also lose Character there 
But not long ago I had child delete a toon. I had this one back - only noticed after period of restore was over, because on a realm I not often play - I might have had luck that it was not overwrote 
We still need clones back, please.

Hello everyone,
I’m a longtime WoW player (bought the game back in 2005). Naturally, I played classic when it came out, but could only continue playing until the AQ patch.
My problem is that I missed the boat on character cloning so I’m stuck with my characters on WOTLK servers (where I don’t intend to play them). I’ve opened a few GM tickets, but the GM’s response was to explain that they lack the option to do so.
While I understand this issue was explained back then and a clear time limit to clone your character was given, I can’t help but feel sad knowing I can’t play my sweetass lvl 60 bald gnome warlock and to wonder if there is a solution to manually reconstruct my character from the logs or do it by giving the gear and the contents of it’s inventory to a new character made on an Era server from the Firemaw group.
Please help out an OG vanilla player who would very much like to continue playing wow and be a subscriber to Blizzard games.
Starting a new “dynasty” on Era would require too much of a time investment I can’t afford. I would very much like to do a raid now and then on my warlock.

You really should start a new char because even if you get it back, there is no barber shop or race change available in classic.

missed the oportunity to clone since i wasnt playing from end of classic to only recently returning to the game.

What? Era has no progression race. You can level at any pace you want, even 1quest per day! Besides rerolling is curing baldness you know

Bring the clonings back! want my freaking 60 rog back …its still lvl 60 
but i went on the bandwagon to move all to tbc realms…and they do have the data . they are not stupid, rmbred when vanilla first talked happend and what they said then and poff 2019 vanilla is alive xD i support this bring it back:D
