They did, and it was up for 1½ year. You just ignored it.
I understood the “data is gone” but there are also ways of regaining them, unless completely deleted from every possible place. You can also revert things, my character is not deleted, it is only transferred. They could for example “move” it back in time.
What amazes me the most is that many people do not want to see any clone service returning. Yes, i get it! We didnt use it when we could. But what is the problem if it returned?
They only keep backups for a few months. Backing up a complete version of the game often and keeping them would take up a huge amount of space, a lot more than people think it does. It’s not just the actual items the characters has but all their chat, movement, quest history and rewards, drops and may other things people don’t think about.
And those back ups would be about a year and a half old, not just for Era but for Wrath too.
Believe it or not, I would like it back too but I can see it’s not coming back. That’s all I’m trying to tell people.
I do think Blizzard should have kept the last backup of Era characters before the purge and kept the service alive but at the time, and that bit is important, hardly anyone was playing Era and storing data is not free even if it’s done internally.
No matter how difficult it could be, if there is a large number of people asking for it, they might do it.
It has been confirmed numerous times that the data is gone. It’s not about who wants it and who doesn’t. It’s all about the data that doesn’t exist anymore.
They can’t do it as they don’t have the data, which they have said is gone.
People can want it all they want but if there is nothing to recover it isn’t coming back.
It’s like you getting younger, you want it but it can’t happen.
This would be amazing
@blizzard
Please return clone Service
Not everyone could afford it at a time and i thought its gonna be forever available whenever i feel like coming back to Classic
You need to read the thread.
You need to leave the thread
Thanks for bump though
Why? Anyway, it’s not coming back the data is gone forever.
Well, since the data has been deleted, there are many solutions to solve this problem that satisfy all players, and I believe that Blizzard will do this.
yes i believe this too!
Of course data isnt gone in a multibillion company
If the data is gone, which it 100% is, how can they satisfy all players?
They have said it’s “permanently deleted”, sounds like it’s gone to me.
So this is where you say “Big companies never delete data”
Then I give you an example of it happening and mention because it’s not account data they can do what they like and the storage was huge.
Then you repeat “Big companies never delete data”
I say something else, maybe about Ubisoft.
And you say “Big companies never delete data” and this becomes your mantra.
Thanks for bump
1 solution could be to look at the characters that got transfered to TBC or WOTLK when they arrived to the new server (new expansion) before the first login, there you can see their gear this should be in the logs.
I’m sure Blizz will figure this out, many people want to come back after a year or two since they left seeing dead servers on multiple login attempts and now that it’s back, it would be very smart to increase population before it’s too late again when hype is over.
Deleting this data was a very unwise decision and I hope blizzard wasn’t serious cause seriously, it was probably like 100GB of data XD.
Class->variables->item names->spec, could be a txt file.
Can’t blame players that didn’t clone on time, me personally I thought I will always be able to come back and I never knew when it was finished until last week when I wanted to join a friend who’s in similar situation like thousands of other players.
Not gonna lie, I wasn’t in the best financial moment of my life to spend another 30 bucks on service that should be free and it was very selfish of blizzard to cash out on us as always in such way. I have 2 characters that I abandoned on some wotlk server, I just was sure if anything happens I’ll be able to get my char back!
Erasing player progress for unknown reasons and giving them no way back after literally 100s of played days is very unique, probably could have been done only by a very greedy company that could make you pay for such after years of milking you.
Me, personally, I easily spent couple of grand on blizzard in my life. Could easily get a convertible for that haha and here I fkin go again, but I’m not alone.
Imagine working on something, a program, a movie, a book, music album, whatever! for couple of years, leaving it as it was and come back in different circumstances that there is nothing that you literally worked on for hundreds of actual days… because let’s be honest people spend /played months.
I felt same way like when my hard drive from uni times burnt, I was so mad.
Long story short, we are waiting for Xmas sale blizzard, hopefully we won’t be disappointed cause ok, tbc was 5/10, wotlk was 6/10 but I’m not going to play cataclysm as it sucks hard
Class->variables->item names->spec, could be a txt file.
Quests, bag items, and loads of other things too. It will be far bigger than you think and don’t forget it’s a huge amount of characters and that’s just a single backup, they used to do it at least once a day.
Can’t blame players that didn’t clone on time
Well, you can.
I wasn’t in the best financial moment of my life to spend another 30 bucks on service that should be free
It dropped in price at the end to 5€ or £4.
Copying back from Wrath even if the character is untouched is something that Blizzard cannot do.
Lets see what they will come Up with, thx for bump
