Welcome to every single parent body type 1 or 2 - life.

I dont see it as sad. WoW has some great things worth logging in and doing. Just not the story.

i approached wow 20 years ago for the story. this is why for me is sad. I had chills while watchin some cutscenes. now is nothin.

You approached wow because of the story of WC1 , 2 and 3. And RTS games are a good medium to tell a story.

WoW though… you should have realized this 20 years ago with your brand new toon. I realized…

true but some storyline were “epic” like illidan legion or the good old wrathgate. I admit i liked a lot zandalar back in BFA.
I stopped caring with SL. DF erased all my interest and TWW put a stone on the grave.

Midnight will probably run bulldozer over grave of lore and not leave any trace .

For sure. But it could have been much more epic if it was a SP game for example.

i feel blessed to be unable to play the first 2 months of midnight

I feel blessed to be skipping midnight completely as blizzard accepted my refund request for midnight epic edition .

I have tried healing in midnight beta and it’s just not possible with what we have currently in beta .I just love the healing role so I would rather play classic version where I can heal .rather then this band aid of midnight ui .

So no retail for me till blizzard ui is either giving me the tools to heal well or they just make addons accessible .

You mean healbot and vuhdo are gone ?

Yeah those don’t work in dungeons and raids .gives lua error and a big box saying these addons will not work in midnight for said content.

Did your macho varian not smash enough skulls? Awe

I don’t mind main characters being male or female (or, for Blizzard’s sake, Body 1 or Body 2). However, it feels to me that they either go for a tokenism approach (let’s ensure they’re female AND ethnic minority AND physically disabled all at once for a single character!) like Faerin Lothar, or they go for an over-sexualised approach like scantily-clad Valeera Sanguinar, barefooted Xal’atath, or the ever-faithful fallback option of Sylvanas.

Overall, the writing quality of WoW in recent years has been woeful that they have to resort to the above just to try and appease a player-base.

What is your Problem? You´re part of the Problem why we can´t have respectful discussions about these things.

If you have a different PoV, which is fine, then articulate yourself instead of talking down to people or to ridicule their posts, this is not a healthy way of engaging other People.

Varian is no Andrew Tate, so calm down. You´re as out of touch as the guy earlier whose view of Women is stuck in the 50´s.

btw World of "WAR"craft the Skullsmashing is kinda part of the whole War part or would you still play the game if it had no combat?

True.

Agreed. However some posts are worth nothing more than ridicule. Like the one I replied to

It’s ok, it didn’t bother me. Since you’re the rare kind (maybe the only person tbh) who came here and genuinely made this sort of topic in what appears to be good faith, I’ll elaborate.

I stopped caring about WoW story because I really loved Wrath and it was peak WoW for me. I was disappointed with the changes Cata brought in general and it was underwhelming to me in comparison, but still played it as it was still Warcraft. Then they introduced MoP and it was so far from what my expectations for this game were setting-wise and vibe-wise. Blizzard has never stopped being disappointing since then, including their movie. WoW’s writing has been meh for a looong while now. Dragonflight was peak meh story-wise, I can’t blame people for comparing it to Disney.

Now onto the female/woke/whatever note… Since I stopped caring, I’m not paying enough attention for it to bother me. I notice when things seem obviously forced for sure, it’s cringe, but I’m so not emotionally invested in this side of the game anymore. The world itself cannot keep me playing anymore, I luckily for Blizz simply still like playing the game. There are bright moments and characters I liked since Wrath ofc, it’s just not enough. Definitely not enough when gaming companies come out with something like Arcane. So much potential in that world and the show managed their diverse characters brilliantly, I didn’t see anyone arguing about any wokeness despite their plethora of strong female characters and the main romance in it being a lesbian one. Compare that to the latest Witcher season on the same streaming platform…

All in all, I believe many people feel this way. They either left or nostalgia and/or the gameplay itself holds them here.

I know what you mean, but tbh, anything Blizz could´ve thrown out after Wotlk would´ve had it rough. Wotlk wrapped up the “original” Story of WC3. I still enjoyed Cata, not particularly for the Story but for leveling my Army of Toons, the revamped Old Zones (allthough contentious) were kinda good for leveling flow imo.

Regarding MoP, jeah i remember the fuzz in the Community. Accusations of only doing that to crack the Chinese Market and stuff like that. Still i felt like it´s a good thing for the long haul, expanding on Azeroth´s Geography. Always felt better for me to keep things on Azeroth instead of timetraveling or venturing someplace else. I get your point though, MoP was the first X-Pack where i too took a longer break from the game for the first time. In Hindsight though i would,ve loved Throne of Thunder i think, from what i heard that Raid was really good.

Coming back to Topic, one thing i see repeat itself in the Comments so far is somewhat of a consensus about bad written Characters overall regardless of Gender and since i am through the Initial DF Story now (the first 4 Zones) i can totally see that.

As a Side Note, that Caravan Quest with the Centaurs was the worst thing ever! A 10 Minute Loredump with nothing for the Player to do seriously?! 0/10

Regarding Males in DF the 2 most prominent ones in the Story so far Kalecgos and Wrathion are terrible and unlikeable, at least for me. Kaelcgos comes off as depressed and whiney meanwhile Wrathion is selfindulgend, condescending, arrogant and snarky. He´d make a great Villain imo.

Regarding the “Damsel” narrative, which i´ve seen a few comments about, allthough true for Media from back in the day in general. I don´t think Warcraft had that as a mainplot device, like ever. Even back in WC3 Characters like Jaina and Sylvanas weren´t some Princesses in distress, in need of a shining Knight to rescue them, they were Strong Characters with vital Roles in the Plot. So i´d like to ask to keep it confined to Warcraft instead of expanding in a general Discussion of Media and to an extent Society as a whole.

So the whole story of The Primus - the guy who is actually running the show on our side in SL - went over your head? And what about Pelagos?

Again, Pelagos. I’d be very happy if my young male relatives aspired to be like him.

I’m gonna respectfully say that the story is a mess. If you play WoW mainly for the story, save your money.
