Trading could be available, but restricted to only work on items, and only between characters close in level. And no trading between lvl 60s and lower levels at all.
Gold should never be possible to use between characters in trade.
Mailing items between your own characters only possible between lvl 60 toons. No mail to others containing items. Only face to face trading.
In my world AH shouldn’t be there at all.
And remove the damn Flask of Petrification
I know people might not like what my ruleset looks like. But I feel it would be detrimental to the game if AH and gold trading was a thing.
thats not true.
if the sole reason would be to prevent interactions with non HC’s then trading and spamming dungeons with other verified HC players wouldnt be restricted.
Yeah but then you would need to program the addon which takes too much time and effort. Therefore it is easier to just not allow it at all.
Why?
I don’t get all the rage on Flask of Petrification.
Was something in the game, is something in the game.
Just another survival mechanism that allows players to avoid death under some conditions, as the Light of Elune.
Let’s imagine this:
You spent 2 large hours building up a team to rock out Stratholme, because, well, there is no tanks. You prepare yourself: food, enchants, elixirs, potions, etc. You are geared with you new flame and fashion t2 helm item you obtained yesterday’s Onyxia raid.
Hell dam, you’re gonna break the DPS meter.
The team reaches the dungeon and start killing all those f…ing skeletons.
Half way, suddenly, the healer DC’d. IRL there’s been an blackout and he/her is doing his/her best to get back ASAP. No way. You’re in the middle of a pull without healer. You’re gonna die.
Unless, unless you can HS someway, but to use HS you must be out of combat. Big F!
What now?
Without the use of ungroup + flask combo, 4 peps will be dead because someone has DC’d unintentionally …
Yeah tough luck. You fail, you die. Be in comms, ready check before pulls etc. There are workarounds for sudden DCs. Petri + leave group is just lame. It removes ANY risk of HC mode. And without the risk, there is no reward.
All of that mechanism are pre-pull. Nothing that saves you once you had entered the combat.
So it sums up into: “pay for a good PC and internet connection to play HC”.
Kind of … elitist, isn’t it?
What I think it can be done is to make Petri to share CD with HS.
So, If you use Petri flask you can’t either use HS as it would be in CD or be auto-teleported.
And if you’d used HD, your flask is in CD.
Trading will be available, the only rule is one life on Blizzard’s HC realms.
Luckily it’s not your world but Blizzard’s.

So basically you want a get out of jail free-card if you suck at the game. No punishment to push people to improve.
I’m not expecting anything I wrote. But if you have the beans regarding HC realms, you can spill them. You seem to have a good source.
The only source I have is the official posts, and all they have said is one life. I assume there will be no exceptions, you get fooled at a flight point and you have to start again, no appeals, no exceptions.
We all know some current HC players cheese the addon.

And I don’t really care what they do, they can cheese all they want. I never appealed and I never will, my first HC char, mage lvl 54, blinked into a log in Ashenvale when going to felwood. Fell through the world and died. I just went again, and again, and again.
A heroic death if ever I heard of one, hah.
Can you describe to us how being under external circumstances you don’t have control over them make you a bad player? Because maybe you’re PRO player and you break down the parsers and meters in each raid/dungeon, but you don’t have any control at all over what other players can or cannot do or happen to them.
I don’t want a “jail free-card”, but there should be a mechanism to protect your game from scenarios you are going to death, being none’s fault. And as long as Blizzard won’t allow us to appeal for DC’d deaths (or that is what it seems today) what do you propose?
i don’t see the point of not using the auction house.
it’s blocked in the classic challenge because you can’t tell who is “hc” and who is not, but trading of some sort is literally required for professions and reagents, it’s ingrained in the game core mechanics.
once everybody on the server is hc, then it doesn’t really matters: every single thing posted in the ah will be posted by some hc people who risked their lives to get it, and the spirit of hc will be safe.

DC deaths should not be appealable, people will alt-F4 when near death and claim that they disconnected or the game crashed. The only death you can appeal, if any, should be is when you fall through the world or something similar.
As soon as people realise they can’t cheat like they do with the addon they will stop playing.
Yeah. I once took a taxi Hippogryph to Exodar … only it continued throug wall of Exodar into sunset. Of course eventually killnig me somehow, maybe fatigue, maybe just hitng the invisible wall around the world. And no, HS do not work while on taxi-gryphon. I have still screenies looking strange
I think the mainpoint of all the unofficial HC rules it to try to force fairness and fight cheats, goldseller, and spam. Its not easy, but i think that the addon got it as far as possible, while trying to keep HC hard and unforgiving with as few shortcuts as possible. Dungeonsspamming, Ah twinking, player trading all detracts from that and makes it unfair and impossible to control. And with loss of control and authenticity is quickly lose all appeal.
Blizzard have a great new opportunity to make a new official gamemode. They could do a ton of clever stuff without having to ressurect the whole original wow dev team. So just removing ressurection? I think well see more, especiellt since there is a PTR coming soon.
Yes there will always be some ppl who edit the files or cheat in other ways. I wont ever expect 100% but atleast an official server with no appeals at all is a step in the right directions. If i fall through the world…so what? It happens and since its the journey and leveling that matters most…i go agane. Thats where the most fun is. We WANT it to be hard, unforgiving and a bit random. The uncertainty is whats creating emotions, sense of danger and ultimately fulfillness. And playing without goldspam and channel ads? Its pure bliss.

Agreed man. Haven’t had this much fun in WoW classic as I have had the last year or so. Cheating makes no sense to me, so it is hard for me to see what makes people do it, it removes all the fun.

I agree but after all these years we know what will happen if trade is allowed: bots, bots and more bots. And we know that Blizz doesn’t care about them. I would take a third profession over free trade because of this.
That could be rectified with trade brackets. What’s available on the AH will depend on your lvl. F.eks, you are lvl 13, so you are in the lvl 10-19 bracket. You can only bid on things put there from people lvl 10-19. Once you hit lvl 20, you can no longer bid or put up Auction on the lvl 10-19 bracket as you now belong to the lvl 20-29 bracket. Any bids/ auctions already in progress will continue, but no new once.
You can also not send mail to someone outside of your bracket and not trade with directly if they are not in your bracket. This way it’s impossible to funnel gold downwards. The only place it could be a possible market for gold selling is the lvl 60ties. And frankly I don’t see many goldseller, and not player either hit 60. And if you do hit 60 on a HC realm, are you really going to risk that account to a possible ban for a few gold?
