Indeed boosts have always existed but they weren’t as repeatable as Mythic Plus is, you can endlessly run them. Content that was boosted in the past wasn’t quite so repeatable. There is a constant demand for M+ or there wouldn’t be constant boost groups available.
Don’t think i’ve paid much attention to it in years by now and just grab things from the AH if i need it, which mostly comes down to buying a few enchants. If i sell on my bank alt then i don’t bother with trade chat either since i just want to list items and log off again.
Haven’t raids been made so you only are on a loot lockout outside of mythic, making it easy to sell boost there as well in a repeatable manner?
only solution is to have item lvl limit for raid and mythic so that should reduce number of selling boost in wow. for example, BOD mythic you can join if you have average item lvl of 410
What is your issue with boosting /someone selling something/service ?
Like having issue with someone selling stuff on AH beyond ridiculous.
I try to be self sufficient as far as the AH goes so I rarely need to even look at trade. It was always just full of spam and spoilers.
Of course boosting wouldn’t immediately stop by removing tokens, but it would show Blizzard wants to save WoW from the micro transaction cesspit. Blizzard proclaiming something is not against the rules while making money directly out of it is hypocritical.
The demand and supply argument is invalid here. The same could be said for international weapons, drugs, and slave trade. The government says it’s not illegal as long as they get their share.
My issue with people buying boosts it that it spoils the game and the community.
How ? That is your opinion not mine only who is spoiled are you and fanatics against something.
Then pretty much run them with known people, guilds, friends, what ever.
If you join or create a pug group. There is always a risk of your scenario happening.
Raider is simply a filter. But like any other filter. Nothing is ever 100% and some particles can get trough. Same here. Does raider io help filter out them players? Yes. Is it 100% foolproof? No.
Have to ask. Do you honestly think that if Blizzard would do as you say and ban all boosting adds. Would /2 trade becoming a lot more lively? Basing on my experience on Silvermoon(alliance). The trade chat was pretty much either empty or a some a*** jokes(mostly on fridays :D) . Maybe once…in a month I saw a genuine trade offer. Thats it.
So why cant you just do like other people do leave the trade channel?
Because honestly?
Banned boosters = silence
Left the /2 channel = silence
Why not simply save Blizzard the trouble? Cause either way. The result is the same?
They added the WoW Token trying to fight the gold sellers, that was a problem, then they added the Token.
can we having discussion about topic not people’s problems ?
Defeats the object of the game IMO. You can just buy some gold then buy a boost? I know it can be tedious trying to regear an alt… What’s wrong with building community and making some friends to run some dungeons with?
Yes good point, that change helped boosters too, people who go and buy their AotC, it’s always more popular if there is a mount involved too. Like at the end of WoD we had the moose dropped from Archimonde in HFC and the bird dropped from Argus. In the past Heroic could only be run once, now we can go endlessly too. Though if you want drops from the boosters I guess you need them not to be locked.
The huge costs will always be CE and gear/mount etc. I don’t even know how people amass that much gold. I never care about gold myself so never have any .
This whole thread is YOU PEOPLE HAVING problem with something what majority uses and does not hurts anyone like having issue with someone selling stuff on AH just … you are just envy.
Yes the majority of people use boosting. But it’s a fact that it’s killing the game. It’s destroying the community. I couldn’t care less what people want to do… Just no one makes friends in this game anymore. No one talks to anyone… Community is being ripped apart and so is the game and its pretty sad.
That is your statement based on your personal experience only without data based/experience of everyplayer in wow your arguments is just nonsensical as this whole thread.
Yes by your logic since 2004 just … you are envy and few of you are trying to make PROBLEM OUT OF noTHING .
Although I would be interested to see statistics on boost usage, I find it hard to believe it’s the majority or how that would impact people mixing with others.
I also don’t see how buying a boost is killing the game or the community. How is that linked? People will still play with their friends or guild mates regardless of whether or not they buy a boost.

The demand and supply argument is invalid here. The same could be said for international weapons, drugs, and slave trade. The government says it’s not illegal as long as they get their share.
You are comparing apples with oranges.
In that analogy I would also say.
Selling apples from your garden is as much as dangerous as arming a terrorist group to attack your government.
Instead of buying a boost, they could gear with other likewise players and gear together? And because how is being able to basically buy your gear with IRL money not killing the game?
some people do not have time to gear up hero lvl 320 to 415 or 425 in order to play with their real friends. Sometimes, guild needs healer for next weak raiding and they just buy boost to get lvl 425 healer. Myself had very hard time to get the lvl 415 as tank, it took me three months
