Sexism, ANTI-LGBTQ+ and Skin-Based Racism has no place in RP in 2021

Knaak moment. (I can only assume, anyway)

Aaron Rosenberg, actually, and the Warcraft 2 writing team. Chronicles confirmed it all to still be canon, too.

Knaak is actually free of this taint!

They were into it enough in cataclysm to reference it in the Grim Batol dungeon.

Cataclysm also had another dragon sex monster moment in Deathwing’s “consort”.

Edit: Knaaks thing is more sticking the story he fancied writing into the IP he’s writing for whether or not it fits and not really any sex weird stuff. He’s not a great writer but as naff licensed fantasy authors go he’s one of the more benign ones.

Bro u forgot ary*n lordaeronian rpers.

Cuz I don care about game of thrones like rp and if they wanna have low fantasy aesthetic but still accept that they live in a high fantasy setting I think they are fine in my book

Saving this lore for the next time that Sinestra or Alextrasza and the Dragonmaw come up.

Mmmm
 Having ye ol’ argument rn.

“But it’s RP and it’s fine to RP a homophobe”

I think what Kelthulus is saying is that you should not forget that your sexuality/gender/skin colour is NOT a charakter story like some Medias cough Netflixcough seem to believe. There is more to a well writen/played charakter then beeing part of a certain group. Those are nice details but should not define who your charakter is. As example if i play my Mage during RP i’m not RPing a cis white straight women i’m Rping my Mage with all her personality traits, flaws (yes charakters have those),problems and goals.

Coming to terms with one’s sexuality, gender identification, or skin colour (particularly in a situation where it is looked down upon) are absolutely valid character stories to be explored.

That’s cool, but that more or less has never happened. Care to mention which medias/movies/series (from Netflix?) seems to believe that?

And even that is IMO sort of a wrong stance - a coming out story can totally be a reason alone for a LGBTQ+ movie and we need more of those. Rom-coms literally are around people’s sexuality straight or not.

It somehow only becomes an argument when people are talking about LGBTQ+ topics, though, as if somehow they are held to higher standards.

i was totally first >:(

I saw you typing and then decided to beat you to it :))

But yeah, you’re absolutely right – the ‘don’t make this a defining character trait!!!’ crowd only come out when it relates to minority groups. Curious, that, huh.

dont bother responding -phobe @dalefug

And minority groups usually have a better reason too than majority groups, even though the latter have become so normalised no one even bats an eye

Whenever I see promiscuous heterosexual characters from now on, I’m going to start yelling at them to stop making their orientation their defining character trait.

I would disagree. It can again be PART of the bigger picture but should not be its only purpose. If your charakter creation and ideas for your charakter stop at “I’m gonna play a gay black person.” then sorry thats poor story writing. And yes those groups only come then out cause minority groups tend to make that mistake and then play victim if nobody likes there charakter.

For example the New Star Wars trilogy was realy realy bad. The story was poorly written, the charakters lacked depth, irrational behaivor was a permanent thing and the main charakter is a mary sue charakter.

And despite the fanbase talking about all those flaws the only thing the producers seemed to have heared “She is a women and there for sexist star wars community doesnt like her.”

What they did not realise is that the entire problem was what came out of the fact that the only idea for Rey seems to have been “Lets create a powerfull female charakter in star wars” despite there beeing multiple such charakters already that where better written and are loved by the fans.

oh no no no no

Why is it that when people show up on the forums from the 2004 version of the game they also bring all the sexuality biases of the time along with them?

When I made Nerathion his character idea was literally a ‘smiling novice druid’, his sexuality was not really something on my mind, but I built on it as I roleplayed. Nothing wrong with such character traits and build on them, in WoW universe you can just add one more general profession to it and you’re good. A gay black tailorer, maybe?

Somehow homophobes always come out and ignore the story and only point out the sexuality/gender of the character, though.

Haven’t seen Star Wars, but wasn’t the new trilogy where they promoted it with a LGBTQ+ kiss, but it was just a background character that nobody knew and got edited out in some countries?

I’ve heard a lot of problems with it, however the producers or writers are also correct that many heavy complaints have been the prOgrEsSivE iDeAs shown e.g. powerful women/lgbtq+ stuff. Curiously, those complaints were more frequent on gaming sites.

People ranted about Star Wars because one character had purple hair & one was an asian woman+that tiny kiss.

Its weird.
