Sharding on AD: Its active and getting worse

Following a suggestion within the thread (I suspect many of you have seen this already mind!) Take a look here and give it some feedback, report instances you’ve had to deal with it (Outside of TWW zones) and get our voices heard on the upcoming content and how we don’t want it spoiled by sharding!

A bump!

Give the original post (linked above) some love, fellow RP’ers!

bumping this, the more voices on the thread the more chance we have for blizzard actually looking at it. Make them see this is not just a handful of players annoyed but the community.

But hey, atleast we got Dastardly Duos, right guys?

Please do something about this, Blizzard. It’s a problem worth solving for us!

Thus far we’ve had confirmation the server is broken:

As quote “Only applied to Stormwind and Orgrimmar” instead of everywhere except major content zones.

Reminder we are expecting and were promised: “By default, sharding is always disabled on RP realms, except where needed for server stability”

Please, make it clear this isn’t right on the attached thread and that our lack of bug report forum doesn’t mean it isn’t a bug!

So this was the last thing before the thread was locked - is there any way for us to do this? I doubt that WoW devs read the Argent Dawn EU forums, or probably the forums at all, and other social media probably isn’t something the devs involve themselves in either considering that’d mean conversing with very angry PVP/PVE players.

Crazy how they can’t just do that themselves? Isn’t that their job???

Surely customer service has easier access and their message will carry more weight/urgency.

At this point, using any line available to make sure you make it clear this Is a bug, is wise. Because the internal response to this is wrong.

There is a Send Feedback/Suggestion option available in-game through the Support/Help function of the main menu, but there’s nothing to suggest feedback isn’t simply forwarded to a spam folder and then deleted periodically when it gets too full :person_shrugging: Other than that… Direct contact on social media, I guess? Any means of getting feedback and suggestions to be read is inherently a long shot.

This feels rather annoying. I love to joke (and not without a reason) that nobody at blizzard reads eu forums etc. But this is a legitimate issue that is someones job to take care of without needing to be reminded or after a first nudge, because everybody can forget. I am glad CS on eu remains a meme, since they cant even forward the issue to someone across the ocean.

But since I dont have twitter to bully the devs, am I just screwed and dont have the option to report issues? I guess I can use the ingame bug report when I get home, but is there anything else I can do?

I really do not understand the thought behind that response. If it’s not intended to work this way and was meant to simply be a temporary thing (which as you said is now 9+ months), then surely its a bug?

How can the blue poster claim its not working as intended, yet it’s also not a bug at the same time?

Woo yeah let’s go to the General section of the forums that not even the community managers bother to moderate so all the yahtzees and bigots can run wild! The GD section totally hasn’t been awful towards RPers anyway haha !!!

Are they implying that a developer directly reads and responds to the forums in the General section?? Or that there the community managers bother to convey our suggestions to the devs and vice versa, but in the customer support (!!!) they don’t??

What an insane response I’ll be honest.

Out of curiosity just because I haven’t experienced any sharding in Stromgarde or Stormwind recently: where is the sharding affecting? The devs say its the capitals only but I’ve seen no sharding whatsoever. Am I just getting lucky or something?

No, its only not going to affect capitals according to the response.

Its affecting Pandaria, Legion Dalaran, and a couple of other spots every so often since TWW prepatch:

Yesterday I had personal issues with it in Jade Forest, as did multiple people. As it impacted the market event at Dawn’s Blossom. The only way to have it solved was to find someone who wasn’t sharded and have them invite people, which sort of forced it to work.

Strange, but I suppose that does explain it. I’ve not really RPed outside of Kalimdor/Eastern Kingdoms for almost a year and none of those zones seem to be affected by it currently. What a strange incident, I wonder what’s causing it to only half-affect some specific places. These aren’t high-traffic areas either, not compared to the likes of Stromgarde or etc. which sees way more than Pandaria or Legion Dalaran I must imagine.

Yes and no. Pandaria gets comparative weekly traffic to Stromgarde’s busy days. Around 100 or so average people come across on a Tuesday evening. Legion Dalaran, absolutely not anymore.

They enabled sharding for regions that were involved in recent content (Legion Dalaran during the TWW prologue and launch patch, Pandaria during Remix) but arbitarily don’t disable them afterwards.

It’s something ActiBlizzard has been very weird with handling, given how the Radiant Memory events were completely unplayable on AD (due to sharding being disabled in Wotlk, Kalimdor and EK) until the weekly reset where sharding got enabled in the zones themselves. They keep toggling sharding for SW and Org back and forth for the Greedy Emissary event (takes them over two weeks after the event to disable it in the capitals as if they forgot thats the default behavior on RP realms) while for absolutely no discernible reason they kept sharding active in Legion Dalaran and Pandaria.

I’m not sure Arathi will be affected like this as well given the entire questchain takes place in its own instance but I wouldn’t put it above Blizzard to also shard the uninstanced zone out of negligence.

And this is borderline spiteful from the Community Mod, but it’s worth pointing out that the last time this fix was communicated via Twitter. (with a 1-2 day delay on AD compared to NA iirc)

Maybe it’s better to try and poke Zorbrix on Twitter rather than the forum janitors on the official forums.
