This is everything wrong with this addon. Without it I would have had no idea there was a warlock nearby. He didn’t use any abilities he simply just existed. I could target him from the Spy window, see by my target frame when I was in range of him, and use the target of target to see where he was exactly. I can even put a marker on the NPC and see it through walls if I didn’t know where it was.(I did this against a mob earlier today through a hill to find a priest)

This is not fun, it is not fair, and it is not in any way in the spirit of vanilla.

Spy would be ok if blizz somewhat limited the ability to target players through it. If it was just an alert it would be ok but this targeting thing is what makes it OP.

that is literally the equivalent of reading the combat log and and typing /target name_of_player.

totally agree you shouldn’t be able to target people through it, it makes it too easy for them.

what i’m trying to say is that the addon doesn’t do anything impressive to accomplish this thus disabling it is equivalent of disabling the macro /target.

Don’t talk about things you don’t understand. Spy uses far more than the combat log. That’s an extremely minor part of how it scans npcs

As a software developer i’m pretty sure i can open the .lua files and tell you exactly what it does but i ain’t got time for that so yeah (hence why i’m still lvl 44 on my main).

Big brain you. As a software developer why haven’t you realised that an alliance flying to TP isnt doing anything on the combat log as they physically cant?

Cause that simply ain’t true.
Maybe the one got in range from Aura X or Y, which tadaaa pop ups in the combatlog.

I don’t even use the addon. LOL.
And about embarassing. it’s clearly you. You don’t know how the addon works, don’t know how the API works, let alone how LUA works. Yet you say:

“It does way more then only scanning the combatlog”
“It’s impossible for ppl to show up on the list, without them doing anything”

Saying such things is embarassing idd, and just shows you have no clue how it works.
