Short clip on Spy

What did I learn?

I’ve got a question though. Does it count the application of an aura even when it isn’t actually applied through a manual activation?
For example, if the game loads the player of the opposite faction, and then with the process of loading the player it then loads things on the player, including the auras which the player already had applied beforehand? (Such as buffs, like if I would have 10 minutes left on a power word: fortitude for example)

Because then it would still scan players without players doing anything, as long as there’s an active aura the combat log can pick up.

Pretty good question, I would say no. Alltho I have to test it, and check the combatlogs.

But then again, when you get loaded in, don’t your buffs (underwater) always apply again? I’m really not sure, I could test it out this evening.

But, if loading in with multiple ppl, it’s kinda impossible to time the loadin, with having the aura’s up 100%. And some tiny moment, it will be re-applied, and will get noted in the combatlog.

Really bad at feigning to understand addons

I’m not entirely sure I got the gist of what you said, but I think we’re talking about two different events. I mean when you’re on your mount, a player from the opposite faction gets loaded into my “range” so to speak, and if the addon would react to the player not doing anything at all just by the player having a buff that was applied a long time ago and is soon to expire for example?

Your clip is a bit of a joke Compo.

Whilst you did select a targeting marker, it certainly was not clear from the vid that you could see them, let alone find the target player.

If its so game breaking why didn’t you show it leading you direct to your target, instead of cutting off almost as soon as you started?

Ahh yea true.
No, it won’t as far I know.
BUT, on wear off, when in range, that will be logged. And you will become a target.

The whole Spy defender crew is joining the party

A person, which was doing NOTHING at all got on the spylist of another person.
He’s wondering why, and my log shows he has some aura applied from someone else. Since that gets logged in combatlog, he became a target.

I think this logs proves two things.

One, you are probably right it only uses these (advanced) combat logs to base all its info on, and this is info available for every player if they know how to find these.

Two, by the time any “normal” person would have read this kind of log and made any sense of it and put it to actual use and advantage, they would probably need to ignore their regular gameplay and just stare at the logs full time.

SPY takes a lot of info from a lot of logs real time and with the info gives you an advantage that you could never have in regular gameplay.

Maybe you understand these logs by just scanning them and are also really fast with taking out the needed info and typing commands to target and whatever (I still doubt that) but these actions, even if the information is available, provided by SPY are just not doable by a player while also actually playing the game.

That’s pretty straightforward, makes sense that someone gaining an aura would show up in the combat log.

Maybe… for the ‘normal’ player yes.
Alltho, all these functions are built into the UI. You could make a 2nd Combatlog chat, Make certain things red in it, bold, and some mouseover macro.

In Vanilla there was also an addon like this, but could even do more:

  • CombatSentryGizmo
  • Iseeyou (Alltho not sure if this was was only TBC)

Fact is, all these options were possible since the very start of Vanilla BETA.

Yet here you are, on your 70th+ post about how spy is fine

Because I knew the NPC he was targetting and knew where it was. If you could read you could see that I did the same thing in EPL this morning but DID use the skull marker to see the mob through the hill, I just didn’t need it in this case.

I’m flattered that you’re so interested in me that you’re not only counting my posts, but going through them to count specific posts, but the feeling isn’t mutual, sunshine.
