I was able to reserve my preferred names on a low and medium population servers (Ten Storms, Dreadmist). However, the number of players is expected to drop significantly in the coming weeks.
I am having doubts about continuing on a low pop server, I would like to see a healthy server population and good faction balance later in a couple of months.
I am still hoping that some sensible (less hardcore?) people will migrate to low pop rather than deal with long queues everyday.
Think about it like this. Let’s say for arguments sake that a high pop server has 40k players, and a low pop has at the least 5k players. That is still a lot.
I play on HW RP and ZT RP-PvP, which is low-medium pop. There are a LOT of people.
Blizz have said that they have the stuff ready on the back end to facilitate transfers and in another statement said they understand the importance of community in classic, they arent going to let ghost servers exist so if it happens there will be options.
OMG I don’t have a queue and can actually see the ground on Wednesday morning, this server is DEAD!!! Better to go back to Shazzrah 6-hour queue and complain about it on forums.
Well so far since launch I have played with zero ques in zones full of people and life, I have been disconnected multiple times and logged back in with zero stress, if this server dies in 2 weeks and I have to pay for a server transfer I will gladly take the hit. Much better than being someone whos spent 10 hours in a que this week only to get d/c after 5mins.
Exactly the same with Stonespine, if I have to transfer in a few weeks, at least my experience up to that point has been high pop, it takes 2mins to get a group standing outside RFC.
Really don’t understand why people are enduring 20k ques.
If anything, it should get more players at least for now, people get sick of queue times and move to play on less populated realms with no queues.
In the distant distant future maybe it will die but it wont be anytime soon, especially not while people are levelling.
If it’s a pve server it has more chance of dying imo. But as of now we have an excess of players and a finite number of servers and the big servers have big ol queues that people do not want to sit in.
