Skinning Devilsaur cause griefing and bad behavior

i know Devilsaure are the most farmed thing in World Of Warcraft Classic.

Because it’s 100% drop rate and it can sell for high price in auction house.

I love the PvP that came from Devilsaure hunting, when people try to kill you or taunt the Devilsaure to reset him, it’s totaly fair to do that. We are not in the same faction, we are in a PvP server, we fight for ressource. Fair enough.

Devilsaure Mafia are another problem, but it doesn’t exist in Classic. It’s a “private server problem”.

The real problem is where bad behavior + abuse / griefing come from your own faction.

In Classic, you can skin any body that is looted, even if you doesn’t have done any single damage to the mob or if you are not in the same party. I don’t know if you can skin cross-faction, it’s probably “Yes”.

If the mob is not looted, you can’t skin it.

Now, some players from your own faction try to do this :

  1. They find a Devilsaure that is already engaged by you.
  2. They don’t go away, they sit on the Devilsaure corpse before he die.
  3. When he die, he wait you to loot the mob.
  4. He spam right-click and try to get the skin before you because anybody in the game can skin a mob that is looted.
  5. If you don’t loot the mob and you wait this guy to get out, whisp him, call it to get out, it stay on the Devilsaure corpse untill he despawn and you will not get your leather.

This behavior should be fixed by Blizzard. I reported 6 guys tonight who do that on Shazzrah.

It’s just unbelievable how human can be ridiculous sometimes, how can you try to “f***” your own faction ? How can you be so pitty that you want to steal something that you should not get ? How can you be proud of that ? Is it to hard for you ? Do you know there’s more efficient way to make golds that sitting on a corpse and spamming right-click and praying star + planet align to get the skin before the original killer ?

Someone will say “After all, it’s the game. You can contact the Guild Leader and ask him to do something”, but 95% of the time, Guild Leader just don’t care, we are not in 2004, reputation does NOT matter anymore on a game and they know that, so they don’t care.

No, it’s not the game to grief your own faction. Trying to grief your faction in Vanilla ? It was a 1-week ban if you try to fail a World Boss from your own faction by running on Mushroom to kill all guys on dragon.

So the ultimate response by Blizzard should be simple : disable any skin capacity if you are not in the same group as the guy who killed the mob. Only your group + the other factions can skin something that is looted, but if the other faction want to do that, they have to fight at least. We don’t want you to “ban” theses guys, they are dumb and we already ignore them and let the corpse disappear, but for the sake of the game, just DISABLE the skin capacity for the same faction.

Pretty much free on Nethergarde Keep, still no actual market for it

Yes, that can be a problem. They could add extra rules for elite mobs.

#nochange

If it was like this in Vanilla, it should stay the same now. If is not, well , then that’s a bug and should be fixed.

Clever use of skinning knife?

Those …knife masters

But yea, it sucks, I know! However, it should stay the same.

Someone tried to do this to me as well, fortunately I was faster to click on it. Annoying as it may sometimes be, this is how skinning has always worked, for better or worse. If they haven’t added any protection mechanism even in retail, they will never do so in Classic.

If you find a guy trying to do that, do not loot the corpse.
Just let him stand there wasting his time. Skin when he finally leaves.
Make sure to /shoo him away to make the point. Spam it until he shoves off.

Just sit on your kills and don’t even give them a chance, they’ll learn that there’s nothing to get from you.

I even had people doing this to me in the barrens.
Some people are just selfish beyond their own control.

It’s time to start the classic blacklist mate

I would call a warlock buddy and eye of kilrogg pull tons of mobs onto this kind of person and destroy him once bazillion mobs aggro on him. I’m pretty sure it’s possible to get proximity aggro from being close to mobs which are pulled with eye of kilrogg, since eye of kilrogg does not tag a mob or cause threat. Or some kind of other way to mob train these kind of guys.

Don’t give an inch to ninjas on this game.

Doesn’t that only work on people that are already in combat.
Some tried to do this when I was just standing half afk. But it didn’t work.
It does happen frequently when someone is running away whilst I’m fighting. And he runs through me or something. They’ll aggro on me after he’s gone.

Personally I’d just leave it unlooted, purely to frustrate them.

That’s a pretty long post for something that has always existed in the game.

Yes, trying to steal devilsaur leather (even from your own faction) is something completely normal and has always existed. I’m sorry but I don’t think this will ever get changed, as there is no good reason for it.

(and no, I’ve never done it; in fact, I’ve never even skinned a devilsaur in my entire life)

I’ve had alliance hunters feign death next to me and lock buddy with 2 mobs on em and the mobs reset… but eye seems to behave kinda differently, idk. Might test this and then come back.

Would be interesting and definitely a way to troll people

It’s a great way to duo aoe farm, that’s for sure. We used eye of kilrogg to pull dustwallow murlock camps lol. Mage and Lock is underrated duo pair. Just mild coordination and everything in level range melts in 2 blizzard duration outside elites ofc.

This. I do that to, i will never try to skin something if a guy sit on the corpse.

But after all, when this guy follow you and do that more than one time, it’s harassements and it should be punished by game master.

Tonight i saw literally 3 guys, 3 guys that waiting my friends to loot the mob to skin it. We didn’t loot and get out of this place, just trolling theses monkeys, and then after 2mn we came back. And we saw 1 of theses guys, sitting in the middle of the Devilsaur corpse, thinking he was “invisible” LMAO. We get the skin, and we f*** him  .

Factions are just made up, you know. Griefing your own faction is pmuch the same as griefing the enemy faction. And yes, you are allowed to do both. In fact, it is even RP-viable for some race-class choices.

Again, I’m not saying it’s okay, but I am saying this is something that has always been part of the game and to remove it would be just next-level PC and snowflake-catering.

And yes, some people really are that selfish. In fact, many people in MMORPGs act like that because no one can see the person behind the screen.

Use auto loot and learn how to spam right click on your mob. Nothing else that can be done really

Harassment is not punishable, except in extreme cases, which this is not.
