Slow download speed

Same issue here. Was stuck on initializing download for 2 days. Tried every solution. Now suddenly i’m able to update…at 16KB/s…

The same problem here.
Edit: any VPN works. Connected to Norway, update done in 30 sec, problem solved.

Same problem.

I’m desperately concerned about using a VPN as a workaround for this problem though. I’ve had guild mates using VPNs for work related purposes when working remotely and ending up with bans for “account sharing”.

Will try the Scan & Repair and see if that bears fruit.

It’s nice to get solution (VPN) but that’s stu*id that Blizzard don’t see any problems! It should be temporarily not normal! It’s paid game per month! And they just don’t care!

This is still ongoing. I have 1Gbit duplex and am getting download speed of 70kB/s. You need to fix this, it takes an hour to download the latest Vanguard patch that is only a few hundred MB.

Interestingly enough, I just switched Region from Europe to Americas and I instantly got 30MB/s download speed… I am located in Northern Europe.

It’s the same for other Blizzard launcher games. I just had a Call of Duty update, and had to do the VPN trick again to get it to download.

I have the same problem 1000/1000 line, max 100kb download speed.

I too am experiencing this problem. I change region using my VPN and it drops down to 100 kb after a min. Please fix.

Same issue as described over. I have followed the guide to delete all game data and temporary data, to reinstall both the battle net client and to reinstall the game itself.

Now stuck at 14KBs on a 20/750 line.

Hello everyone,

If not done yet, please follow the steps of this following article :

Else, some others solutions you can try :

  • Logout from the Battle.net app then relog, selecting a different region
  • In the app settings, instead of setting a download speed limit to 0, put a large number instead

Typicall copy past answer from Blizzard. Of course blame our connections instead fixing the app you broke with the 13747 update. Support is unacceptable these days.

Damn stop sending us those guides. At least most of ppl here already tried everything. And no. VPN can’t be a solution! Do something with this finally!

With so many reports in this post, the issue seems to be on YOUR end Blizzard. It’s a problem you need to fix. We shouldn’t have to use third-party apps to be able to download stuff from YOUR launcher.

The issue must be somewhere in the EU region with your database for downloads/patches to cause this issue, which is why a VPN fixes it. But once again, we should NOT be having to use VPNs to download and update our games.

Please find a proper solution for this problem.

Not to put too fine a point to it, but if the issue was truly with the download servers/CDN on our end then it would affect every single player within the entire region equally.

Given that is demonstrably not the case it seems more likely that there is some form of conflict (quite possibly indeed on the peering level, as was mentioned by some in this thread) involving one of the major data carriers that handle international data traffic, which a lot (but not all) of ISPs go through on their path towards the battle.net servers.

Such issues tend to be resolved by the related companies rather quickly, and we have every expectation that this will also prove true here, but for the time being using a VPN to bypass the problematic routing path is a pretty reasonable work-around. We’ll let everyone know if we learn any more detail on this.

I’m also trying to grab a minor update in retail (45,68 mb), I have a 1000/1000 connection, everything works fine - but this little update get stuck on 19 mb of 45 mb, and nothing speeds it up. Restarting the launcher just resets it, and then it gets stuck on 19 mb again, after waiting for 15 minutes for it to even get back to that point.
I’ve done all the troubleshooters, I’ve pinged servers, I’ve reset my router, checked the settings in the launcher, looked at package loss (just in case) - and nothing improves it.

Edit: restarted it again - it reset the progress and now I’ve been stuck on 6,18 mb / 45,68 mb (on initialising by the way) for the last 20 or so minutes.

I am in the same boat, on a 1000/1000 connection and tried installing Wow from all diffrent regions and max speed i get is around 30 - 148 KB´s, done around 2% in 3 hours now.

Downloading games from Steam or other clients gives the normal speed i usally get.

I got on speedtest 587 mbit down, and I get 200 KB/s in download right now…

EDIT: Changed from EU-account to US and download went to 60MB/second, what the heck.

I get ~70MB/second on Steam with my connection and 18,46KB/s on battle.net right now…

EDIT: When I changed from EU-account to US1-account the speed raised to 60MB/second, clearly something wrong with EU-download…

Can confirm it also is slow for cod mw2 Beta! Seems like the servers cant handle this sht with WOTLK + cod beta… At 110kb/s the last 2/3 days…

Also from Norway!

Edit: Finally worked! Switch to US/ASIA Download, EU is broken

I’m having exactly the same problems with the download speed through the battle.net client, just a few days ago it was absolutely fine!.
