I don’t really agree there, there’s plenty of game that allow some expression of creativity, is it as limitless as you can do with a piece of paper and a pencil? probably not, because games are inherently confined by what is possible inside of them.
Now if you want to talk about full unbound creativity, you’re right. A game cannot give you that, but argueably neither can life, because even in life, we are confined to the tools we use to create, the functions of our body to create with, the capacity of our minds to create new tools with to further our creation.
And its fine, I don’t need blizzard to be vissionary, I need them to put down a good piece of content to chew on.
RTS and RPG’s were neither new and unknown concepts but man did Blizzard make a banger with WC3 there, for my RTS I’m a huge AOE2 andy but WC3 can easily and proudly stand next to that giant, maybe even a little above it if I’m being objective.
I’m convinced if I just keep trying to convey what part of my post was the meat of the post eventually people will catch on, lord knows I’ve focussed on the wrong parts in others in the past as well.
