So you picked totally awful players

You better have an alt with that name!

We have no idea who all the council members are and they may well create new characters to stay anonymous, or they are from other regions.

Honestly though, I’m kind of glad I wasn’t selected. Because I wouldn’t be able to post since my account is filled with EU accounts (from back when I was doing my RaF thing). And for some weird unexplainable reason you can’t delete WoW accounts from your BattleNet account; just the WHOLE thing. So yeah
With their choice to make it US forums only; I’d be screwed, period.

The underlying issue is that Blizzard is not willing to shift again towards that, since they went into the opposite direction since Legion, for whatever random reason.

That is something I’d support. But I just don’t trust Blizzard to make it that way.

Being part of the council is like drawing a massive target onto yourself.

By Acherus, thanks !

As long as they’re not changing course, I don’t trust them.

Fair enough. But that’s what the council is actually hoping to rectify.

I mean that shouldn’t be a problem for you, you get blamed all the time anyway xD

You know, you might actually be right. I went through that list and did not recognize a single one of them. Not sure if they are awful players but probably not that good either. Was expecting some actually skilled veteran WoW players on that list.

I’m stuck with a wow 2 account they won’t remove. I really don’t understand why.

Yeah it’s completely silly. I’ve got a WoW2-7, none of which I’m using. Waste of space.

Maybe they’re scared of getting too many ‘please restore my account, I made a mistake’ requests if they opened it up.

You mispelt ‘We’, I think you meant ‘I’.

Never confuse your own opinion with fact

That would defeat the entire point. Plus they tried that before, with rather predictable results when you have a lot of people beating their breasts and Bellowing "This is what is wrong with PvP! " “No! This is what is wrong with PvP!” “Pah, you’re both wrong, I got killed by a Rogue today in WPvP, they sure needs balancing and nerfing” “You losers, that isn’t PvP, it’s all about Arena, nothing else in the game matters!”

Didn’t last too long

Which is why it somewhat dismaying to see that they are only really catering to the standard PvP, Top End raiding types.

Given the amount of options on the drop down list for the application for it, it seems they only really gave a damn about Raiders and PvP anyway, so what was the bloody point trying to make it look like all aspects of the game are going to be discussed?

Needs a broader scale of player involvement than I saw on most of the ‘Introduce Yourself’ posts on the US forums. I was just going down the list going “Right, you’ve ignored that aspect, and that aspect, and those aspects, why not just be honest and say you don’t actually think anything else in the game matters?”

Hopefully some of these people who say they RP and care about the story, actually will, even more hopefully they will be listened to so that Blizzard actually still have a game left, as opposed to some reasonless insipid faux E-Sport. Because that really would kill the game, off

Never understood that, RP’ers are one of the three playstyles that because they create their own content (As in actually doing so, not the way Streamers do) They’re the ones that don’t likely unsub just because game mechanics are not going their way. Which is a polite way of saying “One of the most loyal of the demographics”

So I might be wondering just so, why they’re often kicked to the curb.

Good Will doesn’t last for ever.

Who cares?

Dungeons and Dragon’s character of course! That’s how you mark levelling up. It couldn’t possibly be arena rating, I mean that would be a juvenile approach to take. Besides, with what they are trying to achieve with this initiative then who cares about XP?

This may come as a shock, but not everyone has the slightest interests in those aspects of the game. In fact they’re probably a small demographic. what would be the point in purposefully catering to a very small demographic and ignoring other insights?

I mean I guarantee you not one of those people you mention sprang from the womb fully expert, so they have to encompass that fact.

Take the PvP aspects you cite, people would have to work towards that, now how are they going to do that if Blizz solely concentrate on the top end stuff? It would actually have a negative impact on that aspect of the game if no one was being listened to who was trying to get better at it, but the system was so skewed that there was a glass ceiling!

People would just get disenfranchised with it, do something more rewarding with their time (or dare I say -fun-) and that demographic would shrink even more, all the while the ‘top end’ people would be complaining about Blizz, despite it being because Blizz was only listening to the people above that glass ceiling.

If you don’t listen to the people just getting fresh into PvP, but only the top end then it is never going to improve now is it?

That’s not really the job of a Council though is it? On a forum or in real life, because if it was it means you’d -just- get their ideas and it would turn into an echo chamber. They’re people either elected or in this case appointed, to represent the interests of people. You don’t want them -making- the rules, because that would defy the point.

We don’t know that yet. We know they have underrepresented or ignored some aspects. But we simply do not know yet.

Do you actually know what a Council is for?

Based on their extensive tenure in the position you mean
of less than a week?

In fairness Tah, when they said “Then do what I said” was actually the correct answer, given that what he said was essentially "Tell me what you want to see doing and I’ll see if I can represent it “So you have zero ideas?” “I might do, but do what I said and tell me yours”.

I mean that is how Councils are supposed to work.

You’re giving an awful good example as to why they should not listen to people like you, that is, sadly to say, for sure.

I actually did, because I wanted RP’ers and lore nerds to get representation. I did not expect great things, but then at least if we want RP’ers to be heard, we’ve got Kretias on these forums, and he/she (I don’t know which) can be pointed to exactly the thread on here where RP’ers have come up with ideas and what they would love to see in game, for them to then represent those ideas on the Council. Which is like, Y’know, what a Councillor is supposed to be doing.

As long as we can go “Ey, check out this thread, this is what the Third playstyle would like to see” then I don’t care if they are a dedicated RP’er or not .

No, that is terrible news. If you make it all about elitist top end stuff then it is an exercise doomed to failure that will disenfranchise more players than it pleases. It’s either about the game as a whole, or just don’t bother.

Either way, it’s been less than a week, let’s not expect too much in the way of tangible results too Soon!

You are such a nerd.

You knows it man!

I know, I just couldn’t resist a poke. :innocent:

I did later on make some positive remarks. I hope the council works out (for everyone).

I see you’re feeling all back in shape.

I asked this in another post, but did anyone from the EU region get chosen or is it all US players?

There’s several EU people in there so far. Check this thread:

EU players are also part of it. Including among the thread creators.

Disagreements are bound to happen of course, but discussions with disagreements is still better than Blizzard hitting stuff with a baseball bat with a blindfold on.

I’ve always thought piñatas seemed kind of fun tbh.
