enters thread looking for ways to cheese Razorgore the Untamed and Spine of Deathwing…leaves disappointed
Sorry pal, the closest there is to cheesing Razorgore is to use a Paladin, pop Divine Shield, and oneshot the boss. Divine Shield will mitigate the otherwise lethal raid wipe mechanic, but Razorgore won’t be lootable and will reset.
Or just use the Hearth of Azeroth heal… can’t remember the name of the power.
Oh, well I’ve been doing 25HC each week trying to get the mount invincible and the bandages has worked for me each time. Must be lucky I guess.
Yeah I used to do that! Until one time I was in ICC the neck didn’t do anything. It was like it had reset and I had yet to select any powers for it, which meant a trip back to Silithus to set it up mid raid. No idea why it happened.
Regarding farming the Black Temple, there’s a quest chain associated with it that gives you the Blessed Medallion of Karabor which lets you teleport to the black temple (saves travel time every week).
I think it starts with Tablets of Baa’ri (either Aldor or Scryers).
Also BTW we used that chain skip in the TW run that I got my glaives mog in. Other classes just have to be more precise without the double jump and glide, but the point was to get a warlock+2 up there so we can summon those who didn’t manage the climb.
Concentrated Flame. The first Essence you get with the Heart of Azeroth,
A couple quick tips for Naxxramas:
Gothik the Harvester can be AFKed by highlevel chars. Throw something at him for starting the combat, park your char by the gate dividing the room, and you can go do something else while the phases goes on. Gothik will jump down and be killable in some minutes.
If you stand too close to the eastern wall and the trash spawn starts attacking you, they might delay the later phases and will have to be killed.
The Four Horsemen should not be nuked if you’re capable to oneshot the bosses. Carefully pull them and let them run into formation (to each their corner) before you kill them, otherwise they will easily reset.
Kel’Thuzad can be AFKed as easily as Gothik the Harvester for highlevel characters. Just park your char in the middle of the room and let the sluggish phase go on for the minutes it takes until he becomes attackable.
I’ve seen some arguments on who is really deserving of the nickname KT, but this is an interesting amalgamation.
That’s a typo indeed. Kel it is.
Don’t mind me, just posting here as some else but really myself just to allow me to post another post here. Apparently simply deleting the above post only clears it’s content, and that doesn’t do anything for the anti-monologue restrictions blizzard insists on having here.
Anyway, where was I?
Yes, coming next up…
A quick timesaver for The Oculus - Band of variance (bottom tier) trash:
When you enter the instance, mount up and circle around towards the Nexus Portal on southwest end. Since you can’t use the portal while in combat, the easiest way to get rid of combat is to jump up on a ledge the mobs can’t get to.
This specific ledge is at nine-o’clock, at the very west section of the tier, and the ledge is on the left side (inwards) wall.
You might still have to kill a couple of dragonkin whelps as they still have you in their line of sight, but this is far quicker than having to kill everything on this tier.
Also in general after acquiring the respective dragon Essence, allowing you to mount a flying vehicle: If you fall off a platform, you can summon the dragon vehicle mid-air if you react fast enough, saving you from falling to death.
Can’t let this topic die yet.
Oh well, if you revived the thread, might as well add a few that come to mind…
So in Firelands, you get the feathers from Alysrazor which lets you fly. If you kill the boss, you can still use the wings for the rest of its duration, allowing you to fly into the spider boss’ area, saving some time.
Temple of Ahn’Qiraj has Viscidus who can only be killed if struck with ice damage, frozen and then shattered with melee damage. For this, just get an old low item level weapon (recommended a fast 1-handed one, or even dual wield for classes that can), enchant is with Elemental Force and auto-attack the boss. Sooner of later some ice hits will proc.
And finally, Tomb of Sargeras has along backtrack after the Desolate Host that can be skipped by simply dying (you can unequip your stuff to avoid repair cost), since you respawn right at the beginning of the raid.
Somehow I forgot to share this one:
If you ever plan to farm Blackwing Lair for non-BoP stuff like rare profession recipes, reagents, and BoE gear drop, do it with a Shaman. The Ghost Wolf form suppresses the suppression of the suppression rooms ( ) as it ignores the movement reduction debuff given by the traps.
The same also applies for Rogues, Mages and Hunters as long as they are invincible/in stealth, but these abilities are time- and/or combat sensitive making it potentially far more annoying compared to the Shaman that have none of these issues.
Which pieces for anima have the option to get speed?
Also to add on the Skaden’s post above, in BWL as Warlock you can use Burning Rush talent to run fast through supresion room.
Every slot has probably, i got it on every slot but neck, idk if neck has it or not, maybe i was just unlucky but spent 50k anima and didn’t get on neck so i just gave up on that.
Invest in the heavy pieces first that give the most speed due to stat allocation, so the order is:
Weapon
Helm, Chest and Pants
Boots, belt and probably rings and trinkets
Back and bracers if i remember right have the least
Now some words about the instances in the Storm Peaks:
Halls of Stone - the encounter Tribunal of Ages can bug and leave you without being able to loot the chest that contains the loot. Personally I have found that it will reliably bug when I take my Paladins and only spam Consecration, so be sure to use direct spells/attacks in addition when on this class. For other classes, I have yet to be able to bug the encounter, so it should be somewhat safe to just do the usual spammy attacks.
Ulduar is a raid that have a conditional hardmode that gives you the chance to be rewarded additional loot from respective bosses. Each boss with hard mode available requires you to do something specific to that boss to enable their respective hard mode for that boss.
Also Ulduar was previously available as both N10 and N25, but is now merged together to N10 for timewalking compatibility, and all old N25 loot is available among with the old N10 loot in the current N10 version. This doesn’t matter in regards to hardmode anyway, just FYI.
There is an ongoing rumoured issue that some bosses doesn’t drop some items from their hard mode loot table. Blizzard have yet to respond to this, and I have yet to personally confirm this issue.
That said, here is an overview of the bosses and how to enable their individual hard mode:
Flame Leviathan - speak with the titan guardian at the start of the raid and opt in for activating the Secondary Defence System. Once the NPCs are reacting to your action, you can mount up (yes, DO NOT enter any vehicles as the vehicles scales you down to raid level!) and move inwards to the gate where the boss comes through.
The hardmode is here determined by how many defensive towers are left active, so just ignore them completely.
Razorscale - does not have a hardmode.
Ignis the Furnase Master - does not have a hardmode.
XT-002 Deconstructor - this is the most difficult ones for highlevel characters and [Whole-Body Shrinka] is recommended, and remove any gear and talents that procs passive damage! Engage XT-002 with a non-covenant spell/attack, and get them down to about 70% health. Then they will become unattackable and spawn a hearth. Kill the hearth. Doing so will give XT-002 100% health again, and the boss can now be killed.
Some Covenants spells and effects DOES NOT scale down with [Whole-Body Shrinka], so better be safe than sorry.
The Assembly of Iron - consists of three mobs in a pack. Again, make sure not to have any passive damage procs or anything like that, and only use single target spells without AoE. Steelbreaker MUST be the last mob alive. It doesn’t matter in which order you kill the two other mobs.
Algalon the Observer - is a hardmode boss by default, no actions needed. Just DO NOT nuke him whenever he becomes attackable as he will then instantly nuke you to zero health. Engage him with a dot or an auto-attack or something else that doesn’t do too much damage, and then blast him down if he already haven’t withdrawn from combat (aka “dead”, but technically he does not die.)
Kologarn - does not have a hardmode.
Auriaya - does not have a hardmode.
Hodir - simply nuke him. The hardmode challenge is to kill him before he destroys the chest on the right side of the room.
Thorim - also simple, just nuke him. It can indeed be annoying to get to him as you need to kill everything in the arena at once before you can interact with the handle that opens up the way upstairs to reach him. The hardmode challenge here is a combat event timer which is no problem for highlevel characters. Just remember that when upstairs and fronting the hall with Thorim at the end, walk around the big circles on the floor and dodge the stun hammer being thrown at you.
Freya - another easy one. Don’t clear the area, we need the big tree mobs alive. Head straight to Freya and nuke her. That’s it. Afterwards perhaps even take the opportunity and pick some flowers if you are a Herbalist as the area is full of herb nodes.
Mimiron - work your way in and enjoy the tram ride. When entering his workshop, DO NOT attack him. There is a huge red “Do not click”-button on the wall behind Mimiron. Walk around the room and click that button. doing so will automatically start the combat event. Now you can just nuke through the phases as normal.
General Vezax - is almost as sensitive as XT-002, but this time you don’t need to do any damage to the boss. Make sure you have no gear, trinkets, talents or anything at all that does passive damage. Then you can go ahead and bodypull General Vezax, and you should position yourself towards a corner in the wall behind him so you don’t get kicked around the room. Hold your position and go AFK for some minutes until the boss spawns a Saronite Animus - which only happens if you ignore the spawning Saronite Vapors. Animus reduces General Vezax’s taken damage by 99%, and you can now kill the spawn and then the boss himself.
Yogg-Saron - whenever you freed the titan keepers from the influence of Yogg Saron, they will stand around the central room and offer a buff as their way of helping you take down this last boss. Normally this is promptly ignored as highlevel characters doesn’t need the buff to down Yogg-Saron.
This is relevant to the hardmode, as it’s legacy difficulty and following chance for hardmode loot scales with the amount of titan keepers that helps you with their buffs during the encounter. Since we highlevel characters don’t have to care about getting helped by them, we get the hardest hardmode and best chances for hardmode loot automatically without having to do anything.
If someone think I have misunderstood how to enable hardmode on some bosses, please let me know. I am after all focused on Ulduar in my weekly raid clear at the moment.
Edit: added additional hardmode details for Flame Leviathan and General Vezax.
Seems like I forgot to mention how to actually kill Yogg-Saron as this is the kind of boss that can’t be nuked in one phase, and one actually have to be aware of the raid mechanics, which can be intimidating for players who haven’t done this boss before.
Step one:
Walk into the pit and give the NPC named Sara a hug. You don’t need to actually hug her, but you need to be this close to her. 1-3 enemy mobs will spawn. Let them come close up to you and Sara before killing them. You only need to kill two, and it will drain Sara’s health down to 1 hp.
For the [Kiss and Make Up]-achievement, be ready with a /kiss and have Sara targeted. Submit the /kiss when Yogg-Saron appears and grabs you with a tentacle.
Step two:
Kill the tentacle that hugs you, and kill other tentacles surrounding Yogg-Saron until he spawns portals around himself. Enter a portal ASAP, and make sure you have speed cooldowns available for convenience.
You will now spawn in an area that replicates an ingame location during a lore event. Don’t get hung up on that, because you now have to run in a circle around the room and kill about 9 neutral mobs (which is everyone in the respective locations) and return to where you spawned. You don’t have all day because of a stacking debuff that will kill you, and you will often get stunned and slowed down.
Behind where you spawned is an opening to something called Yogg-Saron’s brain. Nuke it, and you return to the main boss room.
Step three:
And now at last you can nuke Yogg-Saron.
