Ive been thinking about Baine’s secret mission in 8.1.5 and it’s pretty flawed.
Baine meets with Valeera in Port Fogtide, which is crewed by both horde and horde loyal pirates (a blatant and obviously threat to the secret mission), Baine then goes to the forsaken ship docked around the corner which is holding Derek. The crew are said to be viciously loyal to Sylvanas and attack just by going near them.
Baine wants to keep casualties low so the sailors you fight run off when at low health. (But you kill the dark rangers and ship leaders) Baine then takes the ship to the ruins of Theramore to deliver Derek to Jaina.
Baine then has you assist Zelling in disposing of the ship by making it look like Ashvane pirates stole it so you, Zelling and Baine are innocent in the situation.
Baine appears to have forgotten that the forsaken crew must directly report to Sylvanas or Nathanos if they hold Derek (who obviously would have ordered Derek to be transported onto the ship) and by letting them go free the crew no doubt told Sylvanas and/or Nathanos everything, hence Baine getting arrested and if the Player isn’t a Sylvanas loyalist and didn’t inform Nathanos of Baine’s secret mission, the crew will most likely confirm the player as a traitor (with Sylvanas presumably not taking action on the player just yet.)
Baine is quite the moron when it comes to planning, isn’t he.

How is it honorable to slay people doing their duty vs following your orders and ultimately doing more good than evil.
Putting something else inside it of course. Something else Old God related perhaps. Something that is freeing itself.
I’m throwing in my 5 cents and making the prediction that during the inevitable N’zoth fight Sylvanas pops in during the last phase to slurp up his tasty God of the Deep essence into Xal’atath and then immediately goes on a nice stroll through Stormwind while also setting it on fire (again).

Wow is written by Tumblr writers. There are so many similarities with the current story and a fanfiction. Timeline makes no sense, power levels are bent over backwards, former restrictions and limitations are entirely ignored (Malfurion incapable of just ousting a bunch of bumbling corpses from his lands and Jaina goes from Arcane cannons to incapable of shielding her father’s flag ship.)
Sylvanas getting a Kerrigan ending will be the final nail in the coffin of “Hopes for a better story”. At the very least go all the way down in the ubber dubber evulz Banshee who turns herself into a vessel for the Void lords so we can get our next Horde Warchief Loot pinata.

I will probably legit just quit the game if they do a Kerrigan on Sylvannas.

It makes me laugh how every time a new character is introduced in the Horde War Campaign they devote a box of exposition to defensively justifying themselves and their reasons for fighting.
Because it makes no natural sense for most of the characters to suddenly be there, so they have to make a half-arsed excuse for it. See: Garona, Voss, etc.
I can handle: Sylvanas going full evil and getting killed, Sylvanas getting kicked out of the Horde (perhaps for refusing to help with the Old Gods or even being responsible for their return).
I could even accept, reluctantly, Sylvanas sacrificing herself in some way to deal with the threat, so long as it meant she didn’t YET AGAIN use a ‘Get out of death free’ card (Seriously how many 1-ups does she have now?) and so long as everyone responds to it with a sombre “So there was a tiny bit of good in her after all” ala Darth Vader, rather than “ZOMG SHE SACRIFICED EVERYTHING FOR US WHAT A HERO NOW BUILD A STATUE IN HER HONOR”.
But her doing a 180 and suddenly being unironically the good guy and surviving, bonus points if she remained Warchief through all of it, that would grind whatever hopes I have left into dust.

You sure you want Sylvanas becoming not-undead somehow, reuniting with her sisters and suddenly holding hands with Anduin and skipping through meadows together with all her past deeds utterly forgotten? Looking forward to Sylvanas dying and the forums being a civil war between the “Garrosh did nothing wrong” and “Sylvanas did nothing wrong” crowds until Baine dies and rolls dice Ji Firepaw becomes an evil warchief.
Except that Garrosh did nothing wrong is more of a meme than anything. Plus he really did nothing wrong all the way in cataclysm either.
It’s only when the novel tides of war that Golden literally on the Garrosh that was a fine Warchief. Aggressive but honorable, very similar to Varian and just like him could have become a better character.
