[spoilers] 8.1.5 discussion thread

Warchief selection will be done using a wheel of fortune from now on.

Honestly I ponder if there’ll be a Horde ‘council’ instead. The position of ‘Warchief’ I could see being abolished, as it’s a role that has single-handedly led the Horde down a dark path twice in recent history, and more in the past. I can’t really see Baine or Saurfang being the sole leaders of the Horde.

A council would allow the Horde to…

A) Be different from the Alliance

B) Not need to kill of Sylvanas as she steps down from leader and into the rule of councillor for sneaky stuff.

I doubt any of them would want to take on that mantle now that it has been covered in darkness. It is likely that the council shall happen. Or should at least. Blizz like us having warchiefs…

“For our first order of business, the Lich Queen is to be loaded into a catapult and shot over the horizon”

EDIT: I only just now realise how great that clip is.

Lor’themar: “But what’s going to happen to you?”
Sylv: “Ah I’m sure I’ll just get a slap on the wrist”

No chance. Warchief position is too iconic.

Thing is… Other than Sylvanas what characters do they have that can keep the War in Warcraft?

You’ve got Saurfang the traitor who ran crying to the alliance for help.

You’ve got Baine whom is such besties with Anduin he’ll do anything he’s told by the alliance.

You’ve got Gallywix whom could be a cool character, but will be written as a Trump parody.

There is no need for a faction war anymore. BfA has proven that. Best that they just wrap it up in this expansion.

“Times change”

This is why I theorise BfA is the ‘last hurrah’ for the faction war. The possible means of instigating war are drying up, and possible avenues of peace are growing.

If Sylvanas goes, Calia the Light-Undead can slip in and lead the forsaken into a time of peace. Horde leadership isn’t a war monger in any sense. And Hell will freeze over before the Alliance is actually the dubious aggressor for once, especially with Lawful Good incarnate in charge.

Worst case: Anduin + openly condemn further hostilities, but to keep BGs a thing they’re kept as minor skirmishes between a vengeful Alliance and a stubborn Horde, all in subfactions that have no official support or recognition. Either side could even tell the PCs to investigate, then give said PCs the choice to tattle on these groups or join them.

Getting to the point where they should wrap up the game to be honest, but they keep on treading water and circling back to older plot points.

Everything is fine the war is over then… Cataclysm… Wars over everything is fine… Mist of Pandaria… wars over everything is fine… Beta For Azeroth!

I agree. As great of a journey this was, I think they should wrap up the WoW story in the next expansion which will likely be about the void if we are to believe all the spoilers. Just let the franchise end on a good note instead of trampling all over it for that extra cash…

WoW 2: Azeroth reborn.

Now on Playstation 4! Yet somehow having 3x the complexity in class rotations in spite of being designed for a game pad.

Honestly as time passes I could see a group of WoW nerds who’d make a single player driven story set in the WoW universe and actually write a good story with it…

Obviously only after years once the game is sorta irrelevant or doesn’t have the same audience as before. Then again passion projects like that will get shut down rather quickly… Japan doesn’t joke with their titles already, the last fan made Pokemon game was shut down pretty fast, so I doubt the greedy Americans are any better. Wow already hates Nostalrius like stuff… They won’t need much.

Unironically at this stage the game is so bloated it would benefit from a universal reset and rebuilt with new tech.

TFW Warcraft 4 reveals that WoW’s timeline was but an experiment of Nozdormu, trying to figure out how to avoid the Hour of Twilight and falling to corruption himself.

Lor’themar isn’t really on board the Sylvanas train anymore, leaving Nathanos (and even he’s shown to be hesitant and skeptical in novels and short stories) the only main Horde cast member left on loyalist side.

You mean mobile game because we all have phones right? Ha ha
